Well's Agent, Kings Talking

Isn't it more the agent wanting to get more $$ than Bonzi? Sure Bonzi wants his fair due but with so many possibilities now gone he is loosing leverage. I think he wants to stay but I think Petri is working in his own way to see what is the best deal he can make.

Wow! The tone around Bonzi support seems to be changing around here. I get that some would rather lose him than wait any longer????

Is his fan support here in Sac going to suffer because of this? It has been said on this board that both parties feel that it is in their best interest to allow time to pass. LeBraun seriously lagged on signing his contract, I doubt that he lost any fan base over it.

My guess is that it will all come down to his playing. I just don't understand why everybody is all the sudden dissing his play and contract etc. just because of whatever weird contractual ploy his Agent is most likely engaging him in.

^^ I agree with most of those possibilities but I definitely don't think our offer was for show. 5/36 is not a lowball.
In this market, yes it is, but its a subtle one. Within the realm of reason to OPEN negotiations with. It only becomes a problem if its both the open and the closing bid.

I think what you're seeing primarily is frustration. There have been a LOT of free agent signings and Kings fans would love to see something about our team.

I don't think Bonzi's fan support here in Sacramento will suffer. This kind of stuff happens every TDOS. Don't read too much into it.

Recurring trait of Sacramento fans I have noted -- least hint of anything but unconditional love they will turn in a hurry, whether your name is Webber, Peja, Vlade...nobody is safe from a Kings fans feeling even a hint of being scorned.

I'm just tired of this entire thing... It's pretty evident that Bonzi isn't as into staying as he said he was.
Disagree. We have no feedback from Bonzi and can only assume, correctly, that his agent is in control. His only quote is he wants to stay and have this be his last stop in his career. I believe that. But not at any price.

If I had a good year and beat up on the spurs in the playoffs I would know my value is up. But up is only when compared to others of similar demonstrated ability. And there are not many 6-5 or 6-6 hard nosed rebounders that patrol the paint. The last one like that I can think of was Sir Charles. A lot of GM's think big not stats or think upside. Bonzi is a known and had a good 1/2 year. Yep only 1/2 a year with the Kings and only a bit more than Artest.

So I think Bonzi is looking out for Bonzi and his last quote, awhile ago, is he wants to stay here. So far, it all makes sense.

Well, at least some Kings fans on message boards.

I want Bonzi back. I really genuninely do. But the Kings made Bonzi a good offer, and more than any other team can offer. Bonzi said he wants to be here. The Maloofs have made the offer so they want him here. So where is the disconnect. Someone is full of (beep) here. I really don't know what's going on here, and I can only guess it's Bonzi (or his agent) holding this up because the Kings made an offer than I would like to see barely if any go above. So I am getting really frustrated with the fact that someone says something so blatant like that and then doesn't back it up. While this is all going on every free agent is off the shelf and the MLE is just sitting there... While it was admitted that Bonzi had been the number one priority. Well, this team will not be getting any better if we just bring Bonzi back. It has no doubt hurt this off-season.

the other thing is that 36m/5 years is putting us right at the luxury tax threshold, so anything more and the maloofs have to pay double on that, otherwise id think the maloofs would be more quick to resolve this.

BTW - Fratello played B-Jax the 3rd highest mpg of his career, so I don't know what Bobby's beef would be there. Maybe just bad personality match.
Bobby had a problem with how he was used in Fratello's O sets. He didn't feel that his skills were utilized to the fullest in the dump-it-into-Gasol-and-see-what-happens offense. Regardless of his minutes, he was very frustrated playing for Fratello. I also think that Bobby plain didn't like him either, but Bobby never said that.

I'm just tired of this entire thing... It's pretty evident that Bonzi isn't as into staying as he said he was.
Nothing's "evident" because nothing has been said.

Too much impatience with too many fans.

This is a guy coming off a great season, one of the top FAs at his position, and he's trying to maximize his payday for potentially the balance of his playing career. The press may say Petrie holds all the cards, but Bonzi can bolt for a smaller payday, if he feels disrespected. Leverage on both sides, actually, except we must all assume that Bonzi does indeed WANT a max payday.

This is merely a negotiation for something very, very important. Maybe it will work out, maybe not, and obviously there are some sticking points in the talks. That does not mean either side is negotiating in bad faith, or Bonzi doesn't want to come back, or the Maloofs/Petrie really don't want him back that bad.

Let's just sit back and see how it plays out.

Why don't we send Brad and Bonzi to the Pacers for JO & Foster and Jackson. B & B want to be in Indiana anyways. We will be the Sacramento Pacers. I;m sick of waiting, how happy is Bonzi to be a King with the waiting game we are seeing? He sure seems to be going back on his word that he wants to stay a King and it's in the organizations hands...blah blah blah...I don't care if his agent is an idiot which he obviously is...Bonzi needs to come out and sign or give a media statement or something. He had a full house chanting his name and we love him...why is he punking us? Enough is enough, I know this is his last contract and he wants it to be good, but get it done already 1 way or the other. We need to move on and fix the 4/5.

JO and Ron, a no no for obvious reasons.

Jackson and Foster I'd be okay with. Don't really buy the Artest/Jackson talk/worries, when they were only involved in the brawl together, sticking up and protecting his team-mate(s) along with Fred Jones/Anthony Johnson/Jamaal Tinsley. Jackson's faults are he's a chucker to a degree, get's a bit too harsh on the refs and in interviews sometimes.

Not too sure an Indy/Sac deal goes down though.

Because we have eyelids? I don't think agents do, and yet Petrie will probably still win.

;)
:D Funny.

I honestly don't mind playing wait game. I'm like a gazillion miles away and I'm not privvy to any news anyway. It's long off season, and there might be lost opportunities as this gets dragged out, but I see Petrie as a master of trades, so I'm sure he has something cooking.

LOUD NOISES ! ! ! man oh man.... this reminds me of the last week leading up to the trade deadline right before Webber got traded.... wow we are all losing our minds... Webber got traded in the end (wow last min. though)... everyones hearts skiped a beat for sure... thanks sixers! ! ! talk about someone who had no movement... Miller can walk circles around Webb ( or at least I hope he should ) ok so back to the point in this ... im just glad our GM is most likely working on something good... lets review... 1. Miller for Pollard = great move at the time...still could pay off .... 2. Webb for anything = great deal ..... 3. Doug Christie for Mobley... wow they got robed... worst trade in history? maybe... 4. Jackson for Wells... well we all know how this worked out great deal... 5. Peja for Artest ... wow the trade of them all ! ! ! Artest is all that Peja is not ... clutch... tough... plays in the fourth quarters of games... oh yeah i mean clutch... Peja is going down as the most un-clutch shooter in the history of the NBA... Larry Bird my *** wow PEJA is a mess duct tape couldn't hold him together at this point... although the Pacers did get alittle for him leaving to the hornets ... We would have hung him up if he did this with us...ok ok ok .... so to wrap it up ... Geoff is a genius... he will make it happen ... he just takes time to find the sucker or best deal for us.... Artest for President ! ! ! things are gonna turn around...
