This should already be resolved. Dangit! Bonzi, you got a decent offer. Stop stalling around. Heck, we may not even have a team after next year, so let's get on with things.

I sure as heck hope that GP is working on other matters. If this keeps up and we lose all opportunities to plug the other gaping holes on the Kings......Grrrrrrrrrr!!

Like back-up center and another defensive big? I'd be surprised if all the canidates (3-5 of them) from FA for back-up C get snatched up. Trading KT would be the way to get the other big (Magloire or Etan Thomas).

PG I'm not sure we go after anyone (I like Delk/Lue/Banks), mainly because one of Price or Douby could easily be the back-up to Mike as much as a guy with experience. Question mark, but will take care of itself, just a matter of determining. Which I think should be answered by late Sept.

So, really, it's only 3 moves:

- Deal with Bonzi

- Defensive big

- Defensive big

it is becoming rather perplexing as to why this is taking so long. obviously, there's another 11-12 weeks before training camp, but i've never heard of a big name free agent not making a decision within the first couple of weeks of free agency. there can't be that much more to discuss. by now, there can only be a few viable options, as most teams aren't waiting around on bonzi. they're gettin' **** done. his agent may be trying to squeeze every last penny out of the maloofs, but still, some agreement should have surely been come to by now. and if they haven't yet agreed on anything, then they better not be playing stalemate, but should certainly be working out a sign and trade. i'm normally the proponent of patience when regarding moves such as these, but i have to admit i'm getting a little antsy over this one. the future of the franchise doesn't rest on bonzi's shoulders, but he was an important piece last season. and when there are so few options available, the length of time for a transaction to be executed is a bit bothersome.

I feel ya pain 6th...and if Joe and Gavin and the rest of the Maloof family move MY team, I will curse them until the day the world comes to an end. I'll get a sinking feeling everytime I go to Vegas on business, too.(and no, the Kings wont be THERE when I go, either)

You know, if it goes down that way, I'm not sure how much the anger should be toward the Maloofs -- Sacramento will have been made its choice. This one is on the hometown, Maloofs have been working on a new arena for 7 years now. Gotten beyond ridiculous.

The more I think about this the more I think the Bonzi issue will turn out to be like the Webb contract situation. We make an early offer. His agent look around. The media will report several false alarms. The other rumored potential suitors--ironically the Knicks, Pistons, and Pacers in both cases--will move on and do other moves precluding them from making more signings. And Bonzi will eventually realize the Kings have the only good deal for him, and will return saying he never wanted to leave. Which is of course true, I just hope we don't overpay this time ;)

Pistons have been out of it since they signed Mohammed, and now definitely are with them signing Flip Murray.

Pacers? I'd say they're chasing Harrington more, and already have Daniels to start, along with James White to back-up.

Pacers' fan here. I think that everyone is waiting on Billy King to s&t Al, and then the Bonzi and Wilcox situations will resolve themselves. I think that Bonzi will end up back with the Kings and Wilcox will end up on the loser of the Al sweepstakes.

BTW, you have a really great message board that reflects the passion that the city of Sacramento has for the Kings. It would be real shame if the Kings move!

with the nuggets trading for JR Smith, they will probably be out of the bonzi market... it looks like bonzi may be running out of options... pretty sure the indiana rumors are false, since they already traded for marquise daniels and jeff foster is their only true center on their roster...

it may get to the point that GP gives bonzi an expiration date on the offer, to take it or leave it... otherwise the kings have to use their money elsewhere, before the FA market dries up...

i think something's going to go down in the next 24-48 hours. ;)

As much as I'd love for that to be true because this process is killing me too...all of us including Grant Napear have been saying this for a while, and nothing has come of it. Hopefully, for the sanity of me and many other Kings fans...you're right!!! ;)

I think Bonzi comes back, but they are just trying to find anything to put a little upward pressure on GP's offer.

Just stinks that it is taking so long. I'd like to get it resolved and move on to other deals. And that won't happen until we find out what happens with Bonzi.

Im wit Bricklayer on this one ... if the Kings bail out to be the Vegas Kings(sounds kinda tight actually) my anger will be directed at Sacramento... the city does sound torn on just how much it should have to pay for it but... its Sacramento ! ! The Kings are not just a big draw for the locals but they attract businesses, and would help to continue Sacramentos growth from small town whatever to a respectful up and coming place... just dont see downtown growing with out the Kings and a new building... OH YEAH AND TO STAY ON THE SUBJECT ... I dont think the Kings want him... Martin is ready NOW ! and signing Wells to a four year deal is just too much money and too much time... wells played tough during the playoffs and might be able to do that again ... he is a stud... but hes getting older and if he were to have injury issues next year... that would make it 3 straight years and would make him very hard to move... which the Kings would do after a year or two at the very most... cause I have no doubt Martin is ready to step in and be a stud... who knows where the ceiling is for him... HUGE PLUS although these are not the Kings of old... with Artest demanding a double team already in the paint the Kings need the 2 guard to have range to make other teams pay for trying to stop Artest... Bonzi hit some big 3's in the playoffs but thats not his game... and luckly I thought that it just worked out that Artest and Wells were good enough to get through the double teams... but no reason to have to work that hard on every basket... Artest and Wells wore down...it also forces other teams to not only have to worry about Bibby being the only 3pt. threat... Losing Wells for Martin would help Bibby as well...SO new Kings or not i think the Kings are ready to bring back some 3pt. range ... its to risky to keep wells with Martin just right there ready to be a star... and the paint is to crowed with SAR, Wells, Artest,Thomas, everyone minus Bibby, Miller

BY THE WAY THIS IS MY FIRST POST ... WHAT UP KINGS FANS... CANT WAIT FOR NEXT YEAR ! FIRST TRADING WEBBER THEN PEJA... WOW GEOFF IS A GENIUS... CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT HE DOES... ARTEST FOR PEJA?? WOW IT WOULD HAVE SUCKED TO HAVE WATCHED PEJA LEAVE FOR THE HORNETS ! ! PEACE OUT MOST UN-CLUTCH SHOOTER IN THE NBA...

Wow, I can't believe we are still waiting. I guess there's not a whole lot left as far as big FA's so what's the rush, right. Work on the Bonzi deal or a S & T or some other trade.. *cough* KT.

Well, we could definitely use a decent back-up C at least... Wright (can play the 4 and 5 because of his mobility and size)/Cato/Kandi. Then after that you have Voshkul/Aaron Williams/Pollard.

I'd take any of those guys over Potapenko, especially any of the first three.

This is unbelievable... If Bonzi really meant what he said at the end of the season
"Like I told them when I got here, I don't want to move anymore," said Wells after he scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in Friday night's 105-83 series-ending loss to the Spurs

"If I am not here next year it's totally up to them. I want to be here, I want to do everything it takes to be a King for the rest of my career but if they want to go in a different direction I understand."
Then he would be signed already. It really makes me question if he should even be here anymore, given his past and this whole debacle. The Kings made a good offer, if he really wanted to be here like he said, he would be here...

Bonzi hasn't been a bad guy since his Portland days. The crap with Fratello and not playing him many minutes and off the bench, was all Fratello. Bonzi didn't deserve that. Understandably, after being a starter and good minute guy befoe that, you'd think Bonzi's gonna be like "what the hell is going on?".

Just ask Bobby Jackson who had a similar problem with Fratello and utilization, and didn't like the way he coached. Thus it drove him not going back to Memphis.

This is kind of a cop-out. Fratello has been an above-average coach for a long time. He must be doing something right. This is not to say he's blameless in either situation, but saying he gets all the blame or even most of the blame isn't right either.

BTW - Fratello played B-Jax the 3rd highest mpg of his career, so I don't know what Bobby's beef would be there. Maybe just bad personality match.

Fratello is an *** when it comes to player/coach relationships. Why he's in and out of the league despite being a good coach -- everyone he coaches wants to go Sprewell on him. That whole stupid/goofy TV announcer persona does NOT transer over to the sidelines.

In any case, for "negotiations" to have stretched out this far, SOMEBODY pretty much has had to be unreasonable or be working with a different agenda. Two reasonable sides, working with a common "let's get him signed" mentality would have wrapped this up some time ago. So you figure there are a number of possibilities. Could be a) we made more of a pose than a real pass at him, slightly lowballed him and have refused to budge a single $ to show interest -- not a negotiation but a take it or leave it, b) in combination with a) we told him that if he wanted more he was free to dig up a sign and trade that would be acceptable to us; c) he (or his agent) have been asking for a delusional amount of $$ -- let's say $10 mil/season so its too high to even negotiate; d) there really is a problem with the Muss replacing Adelman scenario for him, and so if there's anything close from somebody else he is outta here; e) ditto the potential minutes crunch with Kevin; f) we've got some big super-secret deal in the hopper that nobody has heard of but that will impact Bonzi and get him his money; or...

In any case, this is clearly not an everybody-on-the-same-page negotiation. And yes, if we get back a reluctant Bonzi unhappy about a deal he was forced to sign, that's not really great news, although perhaps winning would sooth some of that. Its why I continue to believe that we have to/should have moved our number from the intial offer. Not far, but far enough that everybody saves face and any arm twisting is well concealed. Of course we may have already done that. Indeed, if our interest is anything more than show, I would think we have to, although maybe saved as a closing touch after things have dragged on long enough -- then we white knight in with a better offer and say "ok, its time to resolve this -- come on home".
