lol. I get an enormous kick out of this Larry Sanders superstar stuff that has sprung up around the net.
Larry Sanders has half a season of good basketball under his belt, and off of it they signed him to a stupid contract. At which point he fell on his face and them went and hurt himself in a barroom brawl. right now he's a guy averaging 2.7pts 3.7reb on a $12mil contract. I wouldn't be surprised if they'd have a hard time moving for anything right now until he gets back and proves he's not a flash in the pan contract year warrior. You gamble and are wrong on a $12mil contract, you trash your team's future. Make the Biedrins signing look like nothing.
I don't see them moving him just months after dropping the big contract on him as their latest great hope, but if they were going to, I guarantee nobody over these is delusional enough to be demanding a superstar in return. For a team with no backcourt, an IT/Ben combo would be quite the haul in return.
I won't argue the not worth a superstar part, which is obviously insane, but Sanders is good, real good, and has always been, when he's been able to stay on the court. foul trouble and head casedness have been the two things keeping him from achieving what he did last season and that was basically work as a top3 big defender and a legitimate game changer on that end. it seems more likely that his play was the result of a young player figuring things out than it being a contract year push, he is only in his fourth season, after all. his struggles so far have come in alll of 52 minutes spread over three games, while he's fallen back into bad habits, struggling to find his way under a new coach, in a new system and with a lot of turnover on the roster around him. the offcourt stuff is more troubling, but I'm fairly confident that he'll be worth his money and calling that contract stupid is fairly premature.
all that being said, of course he's not getting traded. aside from the fact that it's unpractical to do with all that poison pill stuff going on, no team would be so insane as to trade a guy they've just pretty much committed to roughly four months ago. even Milwaukee, who are into some real crazy stuff lately.
