Your Dream Scenerio For the Offseason

Lets talk about our dream situation for this offseason (Nothing like trading Kenny Thomas for Lebron James where we get cheated, everything has to be possible) It could Include Draft Picks, FA, resigns, and Coach.

4th Pick-Brandon Jennings

23rd Pick-BJ Mullens

31st Pick-Jodie Meeks

Coach-Tom Thibodeau/Eddie Jordan

Resign-Diogu, Jackson(Vet Minnimum)

Roster

Jennings/Udrih/Jackson
Martin/Meeks
Nocioni/Garcia/Greene
Thompson/Diogu
Hawes/Mullens

Any kind of "dream" offseason went out the window a few hours ago for me..

If we can get Sessions it wouldn't be too bad though...and Thibodeau

Assuming no trade up is possible:

4th pick: Thabeet/ Jennings

23rd pick: Jrue Holiday/ Jeff Teague

31st pick: Patrick Mills/ DaJaun Summers

Resign- Diogu

Coach- Avery Johnson

Lets try to be optimistic, you never no. Heck when I was watching the lottery and saw we got the 4th I literally screamed NOOOOOO!!!! at the top of my lungs. But now I just think of the positives. As few as their are their still is a couple.

Yeah, the dream is that Thabeet falls to #4, Teague falls to #23, and BPA #31. Avery Johnson as coach.

However, we all saw what happens to dreams today.

I'll take Curry or Evans at the 4 spot, or Sign Sessions.....
And hope we sign a real NBA coach.

Damn this sucks........

every dream depends on sessions now really. We needed a star, griffin was our best shot as was rubio, now its sessions

Draft Tyreke Evans/Hasheem Thabeet/Jeff Teague/Jrue Holiday

Hire Paul Westphal/Avery Johnson

Make an offseason trade that actually adds a quality player, hopefully a SF.

If we are still short a starting PG at this point sign Sessions.

Picks

#4 jennings
#23 Holiday
#31 traded
trade

jennings
31st pick
Nocioni
Udrih

for Memphis

Rubio
Jaric
Milicic

sign Fesenko
resign Mccants
resign jackson

kings line up

Rubio/Holiday/jackson
Martin/Mccants
Greene/Garcia
Thompson/Milicic
Hawes/Fesenko

Hmm, my dream scenario...

Memphis takes Thabeet, we trade Kmart to OKC for #4.

Draft Rubio and Harden or Derozan, get Mullens at #23. (Yes I don't mind still taking heat for trading KMart for a prospect like Rubio, have to gamble once in awhile). We get better defensively and tougher in our backcourt taking Harden... If we take Derozan its for his pure athletic upside and hoping he reaches the potential many think he has.

Rubio/Udrih
Garcia/(Harden/Derozan)
Noci/Donte
JT/Diogu
hawes/mullen

I'd feel pretty happy with that core in the upcoming years. Tougher defense, bigs growing together with a great ball distrubuter, and I feel pretty confident in our ability to score with those players.... Thats just my opinion flame away!

Washington's pick is probably for sale also at a cheaper price

I'm also really pissed about getting the 4th pick, but here what I think would be good moving forward.
Trades
SAC-MIN
#4 FOR #6, #18, #28
SAC-BOS
Nocioni for Scalabrine, T. Allen

Draft
#6- Hill
#18- Maynor
#23- Mullens
#28- T. Williams
#31- Casspi (Stash him overseas for a few years so he can develop/ saves $$$ against cap)

Kings:
PG: Udrih, Maynor
SG: Martin, T.Williams, T. Allen
SF: Garcia, Greene
PF: Thompson, Hill, Scalabrine, Thomas
C: Hawes, Mullens

2010 expiring: Thomas, T. Allen, Scalabrine

ugh.... damn. its hard to look at this with any real optimisim... if you trade the #4 you miss out on a potential good player, possibly jennings...

in a ideal situation where jennings is a deron williams to rubios chris paul i would be down with trading thompson for amare.... its really do or die time now. we cant fall back on the draft and we just learned first hand that having the worst record doesnt guarantee anything. i say we pull a boston and blow the team up.

with the clippers having the #1 pick i wonder if we could swing a 3 team trade that would send amare to the kings, randolph/thompson to phx and thomas/change to the clippers. how on earth will the clippers play griffin/randolph/camby/kaman in 48 minutes of bball? they have to trade one or two of their bigs. thomas would save them a lot of headaches among their bigs.

whats not bad??

i was visiting the other forums.. and number 4 pick might be a little safer griffin is gone by that time.. the others are crap shoot lets see

btw

why are there so many clipper fans all of a sudden in other sports forums i visit?

All sucky things taken into consideration, if we stay as we are, I'd be relatively happy with some combination of:

#4 - Jennings/Thabeet
#23 - Maynor/Flynn/Collison
#31 - Williams/Casspi/Collison

Now, if we are living in absolute fantasy world, I'd be intrigued by something like this:

Trade Martin to Memphis for #2 (big risk, big reward. We are in a position to gamble). Unfortunately, this is not gonna happen as the Grizz are set at the 2 and could do with Rubio since Conley isn't looking too good. For arguments sake, though, let's say it goes down. Then we could go:

#2 - Rubio
#4 - Harden
#23 - Flynn
#31 - Williams

Most likely they wouldn't all be available, but remember, this is just fantasy.

Then we'd have something like:

Rubio/Flynn
Harden/Williams/McCants?
Noc/Cisco
Thompson/Diogu?
Hawes/ ?

Pure fantasy, but alot of young talent. Would certainly be an exciting team for the future.

If I were going to trade Thompson and pick or picks for a big man it would Bosh and not Amare. The Kings need defense and Amare is not a good defender. Bosh is a better defender and a better rebounder. I wouldn't hold my breath on either one of these deals.

Okay, sifting through the mess that that lottery yesterday created, I finally came upon a semi-plausible scenario that might be possible. Risky, but with a decided upside if things work out. Here are the components:

1) OKC has been looking for an OG
2) OKC has a bunch of big expirings
3) both teams are under the cap, allowing for flexibility in any trade
3) we have a proven OG

So:

1) Memphis picks at #2. Rumors are they are very high on Thabeet. So let's say they take him. That leaves Rubio there for OKC.
2) OKC just found their PG last season. What they need is either a SG or a C.
3) so, we trade:
Kevin Martin
for
#3 pick + expiring contracts + ?
4) we keep the #4 pick in this scenario
5) at #3 we take Rubio, at #4 we take Harden to replace Kevin
6) because we traded Kevin's $11mil contract for a pick who will earn about $4mil + a bunch of expirings, next summer when all of the expirings come off the books we can go be a major player in the big bounty free agent market.

so basically its OUT: Kevin, IN: Rubio, Harden + $6-7mil in caproom for 09-10 (or expirings to join with KT in a big midseason deal).

Why for OKC?: Fill their OG hole, and put a potent Westbrook, Martin, Durant, Green quartet out on the floor. Also, Scott Brooks has coached Kevin.

For us:
Cons: the normal proven player for unproven player stuff; and a marvelously unathletic backcourt
Pros: unathletic maybe, but a young saavy backcourt, to go with our young bigs -- 4 of our 5 starters in the 19-23yr range. And the expirings, joined with KTs, either allow us to grab a big $$ player mid year, or be a major player in FA next year.

Note: you could do the same thing if Memphis took Rubio and OKC was looking at Thabeet. In that case we get Thabeet and Hardin, but the PG position remains unfilled. Note however that one of the expirings OKC has is Earl Watson, so you could take him back and plug him into a platoon with Beno for the year while waiting for the John Wall draft and all that caproom.

I'm just not really sold enough on Rubio or Harden to do something like that. Maybe in another draft, but not this one.

If the Kings really want Rubio I think Thompson to the Grizzlies plus the #23 for #2 is the better bet. The Grizzlies badly need a good young PF, and that still leaves the Kings the #4 to take Hill. Plus Chris Wallace is an idiot.

I personally wouldn't want do that trade if I were Petrie, but I think it's preferable to trying to trade Martin and plug the gap with somone like Harden.

You have to take into account all the exprings too however -- potentially you could get a major player right back with Kevin's money. We'd have about $15mil in expirings (the ones we took back + KT) for use to scoop up a major guy midseason, or go join the Lebron free agency madness.

Its obviously a risk, however.

My fream scenario for the draft night would be this:

Pick 1: Blake Griffin
Pick 2: Hasheem Thabeet
Pick 3: James Harden
Pick 4: Ricky Rubio

Having said all that, we as Kings fans should know that dreams never come true. This was once again proven yesterday :(

Since we might be a little while away from getting news yet, thought I'd dredge an old threat up with a new idea. My proposal would combine youth and depth, and while being very green, has major potential down the road. Here (cough, spit) goes:

MY DREAM OFFSEASON:

Hire Messina or Westphal. Bring on Del Harris and Corliss as two of the assistants. Keep Coachie as consultant.

Draft Rubio with #4, trade #23 to UTH for Kostas Koufos and Ronnie Brewer (if he's extended June 15), draft Calathes with #31 (yes, I know he's overseas), and Cassipi in 2nd Round.

Trade Garcia, Hawes/Thompson, Thomas, and a future first to TOR for Bosh. (I said DREAM offseason)

Re-sign Diogu.

Re-sign Bobby Jackson.

TEAM:

C- Bosh
PF- Thompson
SF- Nocioni
PG- Rubio
SG- Martin
-----
6- Brewer, SG
7- Udrih, PG
8- Diogu, PF
9- Green, SF
10- Jackson, PG/SG
11- Cassipi, SF
12- Koufos, C

Okay. I subject myself to the hatred of the board.......

On the bright side, my dream of K9 being a valuable trade asset has finally come true.

Hmmmm... I suggest we resign him....max 5 year deal :p

Anyway I'm hearing that NO wants to sell their 21st pick. Just an idea, the Blazers would probably buy it though. Damn you Pitchard damn you.
