Yi

I normally and habitually root for the team in these things -- wish that Eli Manning's career had been intentionally scuttled by the Chargers.....

Then afterwards I will go back to rooting for the teams victimized by this kind of crap. ;)

You've used the Eli Manning issue a couple times, but don't cry any tears for my Bolts - we weren't victimized but rather got the best of it by far. There is such a thing as playing your cards right - and the Chargers got three Pro Bowlers: Phillip Rivers, Shawne Merriman, and Nate Kaeding. In spite of the horrid choke against the Pats last year they are the consensus best young team in football - courtesy of Eli Manning refusing to don the powder blue. It's lucky the Chargers didn't try to teach Manning a lesson :D

its not even chinese food... its what a lot of americans THINK chinese food is. that said, that orange chicken is pretty good :p

im hoping against hope that yi comes here, but i see no way that it would work, unless we give up martin, which i will not do.

Speak for yourself bro.

What's up with all these go back to your own country statements? Feels like the 60s of white people and colored people. NBA players nowadays make all sorts of demands. It's normal. Kobe got what he wanted, team leader, now he wants out. Tsk Tsk. Also, Brick pointed out many things I was going to, Francis cried when he got drafted...Webber cried when he got traded to Sacramento and only a max contract got him to stay. We got to understand it wasn't his decision to come made me take off my Webber jersey. Jim Jackson wouldn't show for the Hornets when he was traded there by the Rockets and people cheered his action. Love or hate the situation, I'll be glad if Yi comes to Sacramento.

I don't think anyone was saying it in that context.

It is NOT like that in any way, shape or form. What some are saying - and it's NOT about race or color - is that if an individual wants to play in the NBA, he (or his handlers in the case of those who do not come from countries where their lives are really their own) has to be willing to accept that he might not get his first choice of team/city.

NBA players nowadays make all sorts of demands. It's normal.

No, it's not normal. And it's not the point. There's a tremendous difference between an established NBA star trying to flex his professional muscle and a draftee attempting to do the same thing.

1. Kobe has since backed way off the "demands".

2. Totally irrelevant, IMHO.

3. Webber didn't cry when he got traded to Sacramento. He was going to refuse to report, until his dad reminded him that as a contracted player in the NBA he should remember how lucky he was in the first place. Once he got here, he rapidly came to love it. The reports that he seriously considered going elsewhere as a free agent have NEVER been substantiated by any other GM, club owner, etc. In fact, the exact opposite is more factual.

4. Jim Jackson has bounced around 2/3 of the league. His actions as a long-term veteran looking for one last decent position within the league as a role-player are entirely different than a #5 draft pick.

So quickly forgotten, nice point VF.
