For the record I think Manu is a dirty player, too. I still fully believe the fat lip he gave Artest in the playoffs was deliberate. And his flops are of drama queen quality.

piksi, since I am assuming that you are counting Rakocevic among the good players, could you please tell me when was the least time he won anything? The decay of the national team pretty much started with him getting significant role on the team, and he was the only active participant in all of our national team's recent debacles.
A team that has him (experienced with losing mentality) and Darko (inexperienced with losing mentality) as the two key players has no chance of doing anything. Like we couldn't use someone like Milojevic instead of Nikolic.

While I do agree that Rakocevic is not exactly a player we should be counting on, fact is that only Darko and Rakocevic can play a bit. Askrabic was a solid contributor before he did his ankle but apart from that, we really are struggling. Not one single player after than that can offer anything. Just a bunch of wanna bes that were thrown together.
I think Darko is proving that he can be a HUGE assett for us, for many years to come. He is simply too much to handle on international level. Surround him with Krstic, Pedja and Vujanic (if he comes back to anything resembling his old self) and you have a pretty solid core.
I expect us to get killed by Spain. I do look forward to Darko Vs Pau duel. That would be worth watching.

Fact is, we can't win unless someone else other than Darko or Rakocevic can contribute something. We played a 2 man game against Argentina. That can't happen again. We need everyone contributing.

what about the future? will Serbia and Montenegro play split? I dont know why Kosta Perovic and Ilic havent played as C and Milicic as PF, because the rest PFs arent simply good enough. I have seen Rakocevic playing in Spain for 2 seasons, and his teams played better when he was in the bench, however, he is great.I think, darko still needs some development, but I start thinking he is not going to be the great player he was suposed to be. Good luck for the future. See you in Beijing 2008?
