With their injury troubles and big contracts, it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to shake things up by cutting salary. What do you think of getting Caron Butler for Salmons + Sheldon (expiring)? It might be a lateral move with Salmons producing about the same numbers with a far cheaper contract.

Would would the theory be as to why the Wizards would do that?

Doesn't really solve much for us either -- Butler is one of the main guys on one of the two teams in the league who have won fewer games than us. He's a talent, but obviously not a make you win talent.

There was a discussion on another board about Washington might wanting to make changes with Gil's injury and the money tied up in Jameson and Butler. Butler might be the most movable guy.

As for the Kings, Butler is better, but I don't know if he's 4 mil a year better than Salmons. If they could make this move and make another involving Miller's deal to go along with it, I think it might work out well. But this move alone doesn't make the Kings a lot better. If it's part of a plan involving more moves, then I would like to see it done.
 
Ive always liked Caron...i wouldn't mind mustering up a Salmons trade for him. As long as it doesn't ruin our chances for at least 1 star player in the FA
 
I'm a big fan of Caron's he is like an unselfish version of salmons. I would welcome a trade involving caron for salmons and another filler easily. I feel much better knowing wed have butler at the 3 for the forseeable future rather than cisco
 
The Bullets have nearly no expiring contracts this offseason making retaining draft picks and making team improvements very difficult. I could see them making some moves, but you would assume their priorities would be getting rid of some contracts or trading for a prospect.

I've never like Caron. It seems wherever he goes, the team can't wait to get rid of him..:eek:
 
Wow, Washington is not looking to move Butler for Salmons + expiring. If anything, the only thing that would interest them would be our pick or Kevin Martin. Can't see them trading him for anything else.

Because Kevin is a BYC player, trading him for a top 3 draft pick and young talent would be an option. But, I hope GP isn't considering it.

I didn't say they wanted Salmons. I said there were discussions about them making a move considering their situation, and I was throwing out ideas involving the Kings.

Are you kidding me? He was traded twice while he was on his rookie contract. Once to get Shaq, and once because the Lakers already had Odom at SF and wanted to take a chance on Kwame Brown (oops). I watch Washington every chance I get because of Caron. He's a top 10 player in the league. I wouldn't expect anyone to know that who reads box scores and watches highlights, but if you watch the games -- Caron Butler is a player you want on your team. He plays defense, he creates offense, he sets up his teammates, and he's got the best mid-range shot in the league. Watch a Wizards game sometime. He makes ridiculously hard pull up jumpshots with ease. He's Paul Pierce only 3 years younger. They'd be crazy to trade him. The guy they should be unloading is Jamison, good player but past his prime and they just signed him to a huge contract. Gilbert too with his injury problems and huge contract. Caron is actually a bargain.

Fully agree. Caron is a stud. If we could get him, I would be thrilled.
 
Guys, I've said this before and I'll say it again. Stop getting distracted by intriguing free agents and trades. They would help our team a lot now, but we don't want to be average right now, we want to be good in 3,4,5 years and on. By then Caron would be 32,33...
 
Caron's contract is only up to 2011, which is a safe thing.

He's a good fit as SF alongside Martin and probably a good veteran leader that this team needs.

I'd trade him for Salmons or Miller, whoever the Wizards want.

Top 10 players in this league don't play for 11-41 teams, and also get moved as much as he has.

Well... if you want to nitpick, Washington was a perennial playoff team that lost 2 out 5 from their starting lineup. It's not his fault they don't have the personnel to run their offense correctly. He's a lock for the All-Star game if his team didn't suck so much. Just like Kevin Durant should be in the All-Star game this year but his team's record is terrible so a lesser player from a better team goes instead.

And he was traded twice. Twice! Once for a former #1 overall pick and once for the most dominant player in the game. If anything, it speaks highly of his value that teams are willing to give up a lot to acquire him.

Actually, I don't care anyway. To each his own. Maybe it's better that he's underrated. I'll continue to enjoy watching his genius whether or not everyone else realizes what they're missing.

PS - Webber -- probably the greatest player in Sacramento history, the guy who's jersey just got retired in Arco -- was traded four times. Once for Penny Hardaway, once for Tom Gugliotta, once for Mitch Richmond, and once for Kenny Thomas and friends. What does that have to do with anything anyway?

If you feel Caron is top 10 and is capable of carrying a winning team. So be it. Continue to watch your 11-41 "genius".

LMFAO are you kidding? I very rarely post on here and im pretty drunk right now but your post made me LMFAO

1) That former #1 pick was Kwame Brown, nice go around not mentioning the player in hopes of making it sound better

2) He wasn't traded for Shaq, he was traded ALONG SIDE Lamar Odom(Main piece in the trade) for Shaq, again nice try in making it sound better

3) He is in no way a top 10 player in this league, he has Antawn Jamison who is more than anyone the Kings have as a second scoring option.

4) Yes the wizards were a playoff team, but they were led by Arenas and Caron was the #3 option.
 
Caron Butler is one of my fave players. I've been watching him since college. And while I think he is underrated, he is NOT a top 10 player in this league. Top 20 or 30? You can make a case for him probably, but another thing that goes against him is that he's not a leader. (I do disagree with the previous poster about him being the #3 option though)

LeBron, Kobe, Paul, Wade, Howard. That's 5 there already. Then you have Garnett, Pierce, Nowitzki, Duncan, Nash, Bosh, Melo, Granger, Johnson, Yao....I'm sure there's more, but I'd take those guys before I take Caron. I would love to have Butler on the Kings, but he is definitely not a top 10 player.
