The Cal Expo board voted against moving the state fair.
Yes, but their consultant suggested they sell/lease a chunk of the Cal Expo site to developers and use the money raised to take care of deferred capital needs and other improvements to Cal Expo. I'm sure that's what his plan was intending to do.

Here is some interesting information just in case you want to know what Ric Bucher had to say today.. I mentioned this before.. Look around 3:11 but it is good if you want to start from the beginning. Sounds like Seattle has no chance to get the Kings. NONE!

They obviously don't know that its been reported that the Maloofs have already received an offer to buy the team that was over the estimated value. That was from a buyer that wants to keep the Kings in Sacramento. Acxtually, tyhey've received more than one offer and Burkle would be happy to buy and keep the Kings in Sacramento. Maloofs just won't let go.

But that plan had the arena going downtown and the state fair moving to Natomas. Biscuit is talking about the original Cal Expo plan that Stern's guy hatched.

The board voted against moving the state fair as part of the convergence plan but would've been perfectly fine with the original Cal Expo plan. That was the one where a private developer would clean up the fair AND build a new arena. That was Stern's original plan. In fact, the NBA negotiated that one whereas they just backed the convergence plan. Problem is, no developer was touching that with a ten foot pole. The recession pretty much put the final nail in the coffin.

Exactly. They seem to think that IF the team was for sale, then they would most likely be bought by Hanson. Nope. Do they not realize that, when plenty of locals would be paying top dollar for the team, the NBA wouldn't approve a sale to a Seattle investor who wants to take them out of the market?
