I was high on Sasha and I had said after Brown got fired that we should look at Sasha's tenure as a possibility in a schism between Monte and Brown's roster goals and not leap to the conclusion that Monte is committed to small ball just because he bet on 3 guards in the draft (out of 5 drafts, and ignores the second round as well as Isaac Jones discovery and guys he picks up on value deals) - I think he truly is BPA and unfortunately in this league right now that skilset is guard dominant unless a unicorn is available and those usually go in the top 5 if not first overall. He was very happy to trade a highly skilled guard for a big with skills when the opportunity presented and many clubs were confused why he didn't field their offers, which I assume has something to do with him thinking he can sell the guards for size when the right opportunity presents.
I think it's clear that Brown was slow to integrate Sasha, didn't give him much of a chance early, and when he finally started to put it together he got injured and lost his spot for the remainder of the year. I don't know where Neemi would fit on this roster but that's another guy that Brown just didn't see a point in developing. Most of the guys that get frozen have been bigger players with the exception of Javale McGee who lord knows why was on the team to begin with.
THAT SAID... Sasha proved himself not an NBA player mentally and physically and his decision to demand a buy out for nothing and walk didn't hurt him at all but will cost future euro-NBA transfers dearly until one comes in and makes a star level impact. So best of luck but who cares.
