Who's to blame?...

If you take away the massive blown leads, we really should only have maybe two losses. Who should most of the blame fall on with so many 2nd half meltdowns. Are the players themselves struggling to keep up for a full 48? Or is it opposing teams making the right adjustments at the half while our coaching staff completely drops the ball?

(Also, how ****ing amazing is it that we are even competitive this year!?)

Yeah, I'm not sure when you are a surprise team battling with the West powers that anybody is really "to blame" for much. We haven't been good in a decade, there are certain mistakes/learning experiences/growing pains that young (we're not that young actually, but inexperienced) teams go through. It happens. Probably more remarkable is the fact that we came out and hit those teams so hard in the mouth to being with.

Lack of bench hurts though. Boogie's fouls hurt. But there again lack of a bench makes that more dramatic. In any case, we can't keep pressure on teams for a full 48 because unless we play our starters a full 48, which the refs won't allow with Cuz anyway, we inevitably have lulls just due to roster construction. And good teams on their home floor will take advantage of those lulls.

The team is clearly better, but this was a 28 win team last year, dont forget that. You arent going to go from 28 wins to being world beaters overnight. Lets see where we are at atthe end of December and we will pretty much see the state of the team this year. Brutal schedule through all of November and an easier schedule in December. Just gotts keep working and bring it every night.

The losses we have had have been a result of lack of attention to detail e.g understanding other players strengths (see Ryan Anderson) and our players not understanding there personal foul situation they are in (Cuz/JT). 6-5 is not bad but at worst on the way we have played we should be 7-4/8-3.

If Malone learns from his early mistakes, this team will be in due time contending for the the playoffs. We already saw what the roster is capable of doing. We are pound for pound able to match some of the best in the WC. The coaching staff needs to do a better job planning for match-up strategies before games and make sure do timely adjustments in actual games. We've seen too many times how those horribly timed substitutions or strange substitution patterns turn early big leads/win into losses.

Oh well, I guess we cannot blame Malone. He is after all not a proven coach and his inexperienced will always show just like every coach just starting their coaching career in the NBA.

Only prob I had with Malone vs pelicans was having Landry on Anderson and maybe collison should of been in earlier in the 4th

That was not the issue, the issue was Landry played completely terrible basketball for a veteran player, there are no physical limitations for Landry to not be able to play against Anderson. That's not on Malone that's on Landry for having a complete lack of understanding of what he should be doing, I mean seriously the guy is a 10 year vet he should not have to be told to stay on Anderson and not give him open 3's.

Blame for the Kings winning record?

You all are on your own here.

Kings have had the toughest schedule so far (and it doesn't relent for a bit either). A plus .500 is impressive.

The only team the Kings have played in the bottom 1/3 of the league is the nuggets. That's it.

Even jordan had bad games. Stop the blame game after loses or at least judge based on a larger sample size than 10 games.

I don't know that there's blame, really. I think we've figured out that:

We have a pretty good starting 5.
So far, they've shown that they can hold their own against a tough western slate. McLemore, for all his shortcomings, is at least making a difference on the defensive end. Collison really makes this unit hum.

Our roster still needs an upgrade.
JT should have probably spent the most time on the floor vs. the Pelicans, because he seems to be the only one who knows how to play Anthony Davis. That said, there are times when he's relatively ineffective. We need to bring in someone who moves JT to the bench and trust me, that person is not on our roster right now. I think we get stuck on thinking that we need to bring in a better bench, but bringing in a better starter would also strengthen our bench. I think Landry and Evans are fine against the general morass, but when you start to play against good opponents, they can't hack it when our starters need a blow.

Malone is still growing as a coach.
As much as he deserves all the credit in the world for getting this unit to gel, he also deserves to be questioned for his in-game subs from time to time. Kudos to him, first of all, for what seems to be regular rotations. Kudos also, for shaking things up when they didn't work. It didn't take him long to figure out that Williams needs to ride the pine and Casspi needs the bulk of the backup minutes. Also, I give him credit for trying out Ray Mc instead of Sessions. He hasn't really frozen anyone to Smartian levels, but he does need to tighten up his rotation a bit (and he may be heading that way). I think he needs to get a little more clever with how he works that second unit - I'd rather we never went 10 deep, but it is what it is until it isn't.

So blame? Nah. Players are playing up, coach is still learning. Add one or two more good pieces and let it percolate.

There is no need for blame at this stage of the season yet...however, players do need to hold each other accountable when they are not playing how they are supposed to be and missing defensive assignments, that's the biggest issue to me.

its not about blame and it shouldnt be at this state. We're young and learning. We have to hold ourselves to a high standard to maintain positive traction however blame does not come into it

Blame is probably the wrong word. I'm just curious as to who or what people here think has been the biggest culprit has been in our laughable losses so far.

I honestly don't think we've had any laughable losses. Memphis and Dallas are arguably Top 5 (10 at the outside) teams in this league, and both were on the road. Id' rather have won, but in the larger picture, they aren't as bad as people make them out to be. I mean, both are legit title contenders.

If you can blame anything, it's inexperience. And there's only one way I know of to get experience.

1. We have a strong schedule. We play teams that will come back. Denver did not come back on the Kings because Denver is miserable.
2. Lack of consistent bench play from anyone but Landry and Casspi. The lack of a third guard has hurt keep things consistent once the starters go out.
3. Everyone on the team but Gay and Collison are used to losing. They don't have experience playing a winning style and securing wins. Young teams lose focus and lose leads.
4. Cousins foul trouble. Demarcus is vital to what much of the Kings do. It's amazing and yet scary as a fan. The offense isn't the same without him and the defense is not the same.

Sessions needs to really step up. The biggest weakness on our team isn't PF.. like a lot of people have been suggesting, but it's a third guard.

No, we just have a poor bench. If we could just leave our starters in 48min of every game we might be 10-1.

Errrrrr, there might be an issue of stamina but maybe even a tired Boogie, Collison, and Rudy might be better than a bench player.
