Simply impossible to tell this early. Not even 100% its not Muss at this point. Could still be kept for purposes of money or stubbornness/pride. And then who knows who gets to pick the next one. Geoff? The Boys Maloof? Mommy Maloof? Glamour pick? Young pick? Cherap pick? Who knows?

The magic touch of this Organization has been dead. Geoff who once was a good GM looks completely dumb. the Maloofs who once were smart business people are now more concerned about the arena then the fact that we suck.

A lot of Kings fans screwed up when they wanted Adleman out. (I was one of them). Now I will not make that same mistake in regards to Petrie....

Howland or Donovan. I used to be down on Donovan as a slickster Pitino disciple, but the more I hear the more I like him. I'm still a little wary of the way that his Florida have "flipped the switch".

Iavaroni would be a great choice as well, but we would need a more fluid PG to run that Phoenix system, who could be acquired if we can pick up a mid-late first for Bibby/Artest.

I think that Muss' days are very numbered, but I can't guess who the replacement will be, or even who it is that will be choosing him. All I dare let myself hope for at this point is that they don't interview anyone who hasn't proven their potential. The vets on our roster can't be coached by a loser or a clueless noob.

Takes a man/woman with guts and integrity to admit a mistake like that. Kudos.

Who cares, we have to go out and get him ourselves. He's an assistant for the suns right now.

Don't have to tell me twice, I'd be all for the guy. If collangelo likes him, we should be all over it, but if he's buddies with BC then I don't know what we could do to get him to come here.

Adelman will return from involuntary retirement.

Word is he's going to be Portland's new president.

Also V4GM, I agree with you about getting him. But Sac isn't too far away from PHX where he probably has family and a home. Also Toronto is probably really far away from family.

Then again if we draft Hibbert and we want to go slower/half court I might rather hire Elie anyway like we should've last year.

So should we get a new coach before or after the draft?

I always thought that the Maloofs would give him at least two years. I voted "too soon", but I almost voted Muss because I think that the Maloofs like that they have a puppet. I am surprised that so many think that he will be gone.

Of course, I know that people want him gone. But that was not the question.

I don't think it matters. History has decided our roster, and the GM is supposed to envision the team's future. Those things should determine the draft pick, and if the coach really shares the GM's vision, the GM will pick the same as the coach would anyway. Plus, coaches come and go, with only a fraction of the difficulty or expense of significant roster changes, so you can't ever count on their being more than the coach-du-jour. Not a basis for major, long-term decisions.

The only advantage to waiting that I can think of would be that if we got a great draft pick, it might help in hiring a good coach. But some coaches might get hired in the interim, so it's probably a gamble either way.
