Well it appears that the writing is on the wall.... money and the fact that Rambis is in the Finals, seems to be the only reason he hasn't been announced officially.

Since I'd expect him to be announced the moment the finals end. What does everyone think?

I personally think this is pathetic and unbelievable that this is the best we could do... GO LAKERS!!! I guess.... what a joke... oh well... I'll support him, he seems like a nice guy...

Maybe its secretly Rambis that has been the key to the Lakers success! Maybe it turns out Kobe and Shaq/Pau/Odom aren't really that good, and Its all because of Rambis's coaching that they are so skilled now??? maybe he's also the reason Phil Jackson's won so many championships? Maybe when phil was in chi. Rambis would call Phil and tell him what to do. Maybe Rambis was also responsible for Michael Jordan being the best ever???

I guess this is looking like a real steal for the Kings... Rambis is God!!!

at least until halfway through next year... when it turns out he had nothing to do with any of the Lakers success and he just road wave of being blessed with Kobe/Shaq/Pau/Phil/Odom.

IF that's who is selected, I'll be okay with that. I certainly don't think either Westphal or Thibodeau is head and shoulders better, which is obviously the only other choices, at this point.

My only problem may be if he brings in Robert Horry as an assistant coach. That would be hard to take. I might need a barf bag to use between cheers for the team. :p

I would rather not have a coach that has been a very large part of the Lakers, but we need a coach and you don't pass one up because of what team he is currently working for. I am not as sure as you that they are definitely picking Rambis though. They could just be mulling over the 3 likely candidates and haven't picked a coach yet.

I was never a big fan of Kurt Rambis, the coach. If you guys want him...take him, but I don't get the feeling he's going to Sacto.

I loved him as a player though. :)

Oh good grief.

This is just getting ridiculous. Are we going to let ridiculous blind homerism taint any kind of objective discussion about Kurt Rambis or anyone else who has ever flown over or visited LA? What about people who have the letters LA in their name? Is that next? Say goodbye to bLAke Griffin then...

1. We do NOT know who the Kings will pick.

2. If Kurt Rambis is indeed the selection for the vacant coaching spot I'm pretty sure most Kings fans will welcome him as we do pretty much everyone who comes to the Kings.

3. Your sarcasm has gotten beyond old, IMHO, sactownfan. We could - AND HAVE - done a lot worse than Kurt Rambis.

I'm sorry if you're not happy but do you need to continually find a reason to start another worthless thread about it?

A deal hasn't been finalized yet. And if it is in the near future which I think it will be, shouldn't he be given a fresh slate to see what he can accomplish? Don't know why you want to run the next coach out of town before he even agrees to a deal.

Yes.

But you'd expect that answer from me. Ughh...

I just don't really care anymore, get a damn coach in here at least 2 weeks before the draft. (Closes eyes, downs the worm).

Never trust a Laker....ever. Never have. Never will. Especially where the Kings are concerned. just my opinion.

There's nothing wrong with Kurt Rambis if that's the guy. Kind of a nerdy folk hero back in the day, and ex-Sacramento King before that is forgot, his Lakers playing days predate the Shaq/Kobe years, and he's generally known as a nice guy. As long as he does not bring along Horry (agree on that one) the biggest concerns with him are the same as any other new coach, i.e. can he get it done.

This hyper dramatic stuff is just ridiculous.

I have been lurking on the site for a long time now and I have to post. If we do end up with Rambis as coach I won't be happy but I will give him a chance. Vlade Divac played for the Lakers before he helped us become one of the best teams in the league. All of those many years ago, and I think he turned out OK for us. Keep an open mind.

Remember NBA is a business, and yeah I feel terrible now not remembering that Christie was the heart of our D in those best years was also a Laker at one time. Of course seeing Hedo and Orlando beat the Lakers would make me happier than you can imagine.

I'd like to set the record straight...

Not a big fan of any of the coaches really... It was a terrible time to try and find a solid coach... being that there weren't many if any to chose from...

I will be on the Kurt Rambis bandwagon when he gets here and will most certainly be a fan and hoping for the best... He does seem like a great guy... I will welcome him and be excited about the future...

However it looks like my time to complain about him is running out and my hatred for the Lakers is at a boil thanks to the Nuggets and now Magic... also I really am worried that he's just ridding the success of others and talent...

But maybe he can do this and maybe he'll be a great teacher for our kids... I'll be down with him... I just wanted to get it all out before its official...

the thing here is that you cant expect to get a great and contending coach... not with the salary we can offer.. and not with that roster.. most of the good and great coaches are getting up there in age and im pretty sure some of them would want to gun for a ring or another one rather than spend some time rebuilding a franchise..

our best bet is to find the best brain out there a fresh young brain.. mmmmm braiiiiiiinssssss
