I think that he should guard Stephen Jackson for half of the game and Peja for the other half. The main problem is that Peja is 6' 10" which would be a mismatch against Kevin/Bonzi but if Ron guards Peja, then Stephen could go for 30.

That might be a legitimate concern if Stojakovic hasn't proven throughout his career that he can be shut down by smaller defenders... If Martin gets up in his jersey and stays there, it's not inconceivable that he could be a non-factor for the entire game.

I'm not overly concerned about Jackson, either; he's not somebody that Wells can't defend, so if Adelman's worried about Martin being able to defend Jackson, and wants to keep Artest on Stojakovic, then he'll probably just play Wells more.

bingo...

of course im a pacers fan....so im hoping the kings put martin on jackson.....because despite my disdain for jackson, he will eat martin alive.....

the kings would be better off with martin trying to defend fred jones...ron would totally shut jackson down....and that would go a long way in wrecking the pacers attack....

ok ok ok ok... Mike bibby could shut down peja... Peja shuts himself down. If he isnt open... hes most likly going to miss... Jackson is our concern. but i wanna see ron rip pejas groin into 2 peices... so i want ron on him. Just to say "ahahhahahaa this my team now B****"

everyone knows peja is soft and weak... we all on this board better know it... what did he ever do in sac? he got hopes up and then let us all down. Big pre seasons games... ralry a good post season one. 1 rember 1 time in 2004 when he hit some big shots vs minesota... but he missed the and 1 free throw... so he takes himself out of the game. i wanna see ron own... and ithink i will get my wish

absolutely nothing:rolleyes:

I guess - same goes for Webber, Vlade, Doug, Bobby etc

Artest should guard Peja since they are closer to height than Bonzi. Bonzi is similar to Jackson and he can handle him. PLus it would be cool to se Peja vs. Ron since those are the people that got traded for each other.

I voted Jackson. Peja is very much a known quantity by the Kings. Put a decent defender on him, who knows his game, and Kings can limit him. But it doesn't have to be Artest.

Okay, tone it down.

This website has never been about taking potshots at players like Peja. Show some respect for what he DID for us and the franchise, please.

There is absolutely NO NEED in my humble opinion to dump on him for a game in 2004 when ... blah, blah, blah. We had the thrills of our lives when he was a big part of those championship-caliber teams. There is no reason now to decide he was never any good.

Times change, things change, people change. Peja is happy in Indiana, apparently, and Ron is happy here. It could well be that this trade is talked about for a long time as the ONE standout trade that actually made both teams better.

Yes, indeed VF. I echo your sentiments on this one.

Good question....I like Martin and Bonzi on Peja and Artest on Stephen Jackson.

Peja has trouble taking advanteage of smaller players. Jackson seems to have a bit of a post-up game which should cause Kevin trouble.

i agreewith yoda Peja is not one to take advantage just because he is taller. Marting would have little trouble keeping up with Peja all night. But it doesn't really matter. We will do what has to be done at the time. i know Ron is great but, its not like Martin is a slouch on defense. Kings win by 18.

The question is who will the Pacers put on Ron. Most likely Jax, and maybe Granger at times

I would think Granger whenever possible. Strength on strength and the two apparently had some great practice wars.

LOL Piksi :D

I agree with what Slim said the most. Now I think that Ron should guard Peja when Bonzi is in and Stephen when K-Mart is in.

On another note, Bonzi has been getting more minutes each game. It seems as though Rick is working him back into starting position. I've noticed how Ron has been taking more 3's lately because he and Bibby will be our main deep threats (for the starters), with the occasional deposit by Brad. And when K-Mart checks in off the bench, he can work Ron down low. Hopefully K-Mart will adjust to his temporary bench role appropriately.

I'm interested to see what type of minutes we will see for everyone once Cisco comes back too. My guess would be 42 min avg. for Ron, 30 min for Bonzi, 15 min for Kevin and 9 min for Cisco, between the two positions. I think he will go towards experience leading into and during the playoffs. But I also think Rick understands that Kevin and Cisco need to gain playoff experience. It is going to be as interesting as it will be exciting!

Bonzi will have a bit more than 26 if he's back as a starter.

Also have to remember Garcia can and has played the point a bunch too.

I say we put him on Peja, and complety just take him out of the game, it will be easier for Ron and im more than fine with Jackson tossing up shots.

Sorry I miscalculated...96 min for 2 positions and 4 players. Ron gets 42 avg. right off the bat, hands down. Bonzi gets 30. If Bonzi gets more than 30 then Kevin and Cisco suffer. And I think that Kevin is a better scorer than Bonzi, so I would think he's gonna get some good minutes. And Cisco is too much of an energy player to not give him some minutes.

I would think that Rick would not want Cisco to run the point in the playoffs. Too much of a liability. But bringing it up the court and dumping it to Ron could get him 6 more minutes a game putting him up to 15 which seems about right.

If Garcia is back I would expect to see him gaurd Peja some. He was said to give Peja plenty of problems in practice. This Pacers team is good even without JO. That team is deep! This will be a very very tough game.

Jackson shot 6-21 tonight. maybe we shouldn't guard him at all

actually the best defense for jackson is have the ref make a questionable call or 2....he will then be focused on bitching at the ref versus actually playing the game....

I have noticed that too. He doesn't even go back on D because he has to complain. Beats me.

ill go ahead and confess now...remember how nearly every trade thread I discussed involving the pacers had jackson in it????

in the history of the franchise, theres not a player that i have been more disappointed to see wearing a pacers uniform than stephen jackson....

i want rid of jackson as badly as i would want rid of an ingrown toenail....

they both are incredibly painful and u cant get rid of either one soon enuff...
