Anybody seen Avatar yet? Curious to see opinions. I'm going to check it out in 3D, hopefully tomorrow.

Go see it. NOW. I don't care how late it is or if you will skip a meal. Just go! Slightly cliche and predictable? A little. Doesn't matter in the least.....
I plan to see Avatar in 3D but all the trailers and everything I see it just seems really stupid. I don't know what I'm missing but I'm willing to give it a chance, just because I want to see a good 3D movie and think I have a buddy to go to this one with.

The trailers promise cheese, and it's there in spades. Without question. Fern Gully meets Pocahontas.
That being said, I prepared myself to hate this one going in and didn't. At all. It felt a tad long, which probably had a lot to do with the absolutely horrible chatterboxes sitting next to me, but was ultimately entertaining and I got sucked in to the (admittedly cliche) story. Considering the concerns I had about a script in which the hard-to-find mineral they're looking for is ACTUALLY called "unobtainium," I was pleasantly surprised.
Also, it looked amazing. I've actually seen several films in 3D since its recent resurgence and this was the first time I had to consciously stop myself from shooing nonexistent flies out of my face.
For some reason I just can't get over the blue people.
Doesn't matter. Go see it. It is cliche, but then again so are most movies in some way. This movie is so beautiful and engrossing you forget they are "blue" pretty quickly.

I thouroughly enjoyed Avatar. I almost want to cast a retrospective vote for Bozzwell's film in the Make Your Own Movie Draft. Great movie. It feels like flying through a glowing, underwater paradise!

Avatar is pretty good, word to mother. I totally didnt realize i was sitting in the theatre for 3 hours. It makes me want to go join an Indian tribe in the amazons.
I don't care for Cameron, I'm seeing it because WETA Digital.
Pretty much the same reaction. Throw in a healthy dose of The Matrix, and that's Avatar.
I'm kinda bummed about the 3D thing. I have to go back and see it again, because me and the wife tried to catch the 8:30 last night, but the theatre was packed and the next 3D showing wasn't until midnight. So we saw the "normal" version at 9:30, and it was still one of the most visually stunning movies I've ever seen. I couldn't be more glad that Cameron waited until he had the technology he needed to make this one, because the graphics make the movie. Kinda like the Clone battle in Episode II, which was definitely borrowed from in Avatar.
Zoe Saldana did a great job, though. Her character -- cliched as it was -- was perfectly executed, if you ask me.
Last note: The Na'vi are HUUUUGE. At least 12 feet tall. (Edit: Wikipedia says 9 feet. I'm calling BS.)
I watched the Hangover again last night. Unrated this time, I couldn't really pick out what was new, think there may have been an extra boobie or two but it felt more like extended cuts with an extra joke than extra scenes. Still makes me laugh out loud sitting alone in the basement.
Probably watch Inglourious Basterds tonight and District 9 tomorrow.

I'll be watching it in Imax on Christmas.
Watched Paranormal Activity with my wife, and it was a truly firghtening experience. One of the few movies that had kept me wide awake at night, looking at shadows.
If you haven't watched it, don't watch it alone, turn the lights off, and clear your schedule for the next day because you will be staying up late.

I know I wasn't asked, but I think I'd rather watch that movie about old people <ahem> reconnecting. Which is to say you probably won't find me anywhere near the theater on Christmas.

Anyway, i'll be watching it(sherlock) on New year's day.
Oh yeah, I watched "The Ref" again the other night. I still really like that one. Denis Leary and Kevin Spacey are pretty good here. So many great lines......

Avatar is the best movie I watched this year. I watched in IMAX 3D. I would watch it in IMAX 3D if you have a choice.

I plan to watch this soon, although I admit that it's only to see Holly Weber, one of my selections in the infamous babe draft
Saw Avatar today with my son, while the rest of my family went to see Alvin & the Chipmunks. I'm confident we came out ahead. I'm not actually a movie guy, so I wasn't blown away, but it was okay. Kind of like Dances with Wolves... IN SPAAAACE!

Beyond a reasonable doubt. It was just ok.
Watched the Blu-Ray restoration of Wizard of Oz which we got for Christmas. Probably at least 25 years since I've seen it, pretty funny what you don't pick up on as a kid. The munchkin singing is a whole lot more annoying to adult ears too. But this is rightfully a classic and am glad to have it in my collection.
