Elmore James - Dust My Broom and Shake Your Moneymaker

James deserves a lot more credit for the creation of Chicago Blues than he is normally given. In my mind, he ranks up on the scale with fellow Mississippians Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf.

Folsom Al - Are you a big ToP fan? The reason I ask is that I've always looked up to Francis Rocco Prestia as a bass player. I'd heard that he was very ill, but I didn't get any more info than that.

Right now I'm listening to Django Reinhardt's "Minor Swing"

Huge ToP Fan ..... saw them for 50-cents at the fair grounds in Antioch in the early 70's. I've probably seen ToP at least a dozen-and-a-half times.

Here's info regarding Rocco: http://www.bumpcity.com/roccofund/

What am I listening to .... middle of doing some work ... no music ... but, I can hear the AC-unit running thru the wall.

I love you.

I'm dubbing a Lakers/Bullets game from 97 onto a DVD at the same time. Multi-tasking. I'm realizing that I have about 300 games on tape. Anyone have a obsessive SactoKings recording problem?

Weezer - Freak Me Out

which then led to El Scorcho and Falling for You

and Only in Dreams and Say It Ain't So

I like the new album but I love the first two. I think I'll be going through a Weezer phase for a least the next couple days.

I like the new album and "E-Pro" is easily Beck's most catchy single since "Where It's At" but it does have a very different feel to it. I liked Mutations, and I think Sea Change was a landmark album for him, but I was a little worried that we wouldn't see the old Beck again. I like this album a lot better than Midnite Vultures.

Of course, I'm still listening to Weezer. My Name is Jonas is on at the moment.

I'm currently listening to Bjork's "Vespertine" album.

I've recently rediscovered this one - bought it when it first came out, listened to it, liked it, then forgot about it for a couple of years.

Considering how much CDs are, I should probably stop doing that so often.

The worst is shopping for CDs, finding an album you can't believe you don't already own, buying it, and then finding out that in fact you DO already own it.

I have done that THREE times now. Yet another sign that I spend way too much money on music.

Actually I just thought of another feeling that might be worse. Several times I have either had CDs stolen, or lent them out to people and never got them back. Having to go to the record store and buy another copy of an album you've heard a hundred times is very frustrating. I have never condoned burning a copy of a CD for someone else, but have made exceptions when I've already paid for the album once.

At least you found the CDs to purchase again.

A good number of CDs were stolen by various people in and out of my dorm room in college. I've replaced most of them, but some of my weird imports are gone forever. I've also not yet found another copy of "The Waitresses - Greatest Hits."

Honestly, who steals The Waitresses?

Currently listening to "All Mine" by Porstishead.

This is embarassing to admit, but recently I have found myself watching on Comcast the VH1 Country channel. I have always hated country music and made fun of it, but now I'm watching this channel almost every day now. A lot of it I still don't like, I am a fan of classic country and most of today's artists seem to of lost that edge and now sound too refined and boring. Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, those artists I have always liked. Dwight Yoakum is one modern country artist who still sounds very pure country, especially with the string instrumentation on his songs. I love his song, "Intentional Heartache" and the video-it cracks me up! That is another reason I like country music-the songs tell stories of scandal and such in a very funny, creative way.

Eric Clapton- Lay Down Sally
De La ft MF Doom- Rock CoKane flow
more depending on whatever strikes me

RoyalDiva- I know how you feel. Johnny Cash is one of my all time favs, and there are a lot of country artists out there who are really good. Neko Case of the New Pornographers has some great solo stuff. But I don't think I'll get to the point of listening to popular modern country stuff, it all just sounds like really bad pop sang with a southern accent to me. Doesn't stick to any sort of country sound, at least not in any significant way that I perceive.

Now: MF Grimm and MF Doom- WWIII
