What about BJax this year?

He is dynamite off the bench, is a super presence in the locker room, has been there done that, and he lives full time in Sacramento/Granite Bay. Who else thinks he may be brought on for the Veteran minimum (around $1.4M) to provide just that leadership and experience with our bunch of "kids"? I sure hope they can fit him in.

I think they may well keep him around. He's said he'll work for the vet's minimum and he might be great as a player with the ultimate goal of transitioning into an assistant coaching position since he's made the comment numerous times he's interested in staying on the bench once his playing days are over.

I have many fond memories of Bobby from the first time around, but I actually wasn't too impressed with his shooting or hazing or (what I saw of) his leadership last year. He might fair better on a veteran team, but it might just be time to hang 'em up.

Bobby will not be here. 3 pgs. 5 wing player 3 bigs and need 2 more bigs. that will be 13 overall. no need for 4 pgs. UNLESS Beno is gone then you can be assured that Jackson will be back.

I have this feeling Beno will be traded. Not sure what junk we take back but, I don't think he will be here.

For the vets minnimum I think he could be pretty good to keep around. I know him and Tyreke are in different situations to where as Bobby was a combo gaurd but he was pretty much a SG in PG's body. And Tyreke who is just a flat out combo guard who could play both positions effectivly, I think Bobby could really help Tyreke's development.

I love Bobby Jackson. I have his jersey from way back. But he's clearly at the end of his career. He just can't play anymore. It's time for him to move on and it's time for the Kings to move on.

I think the key here is that there is a lot of time between now and the start of the season. As the team stands now, I agree that BJax wouldn't be back (even at the vet's min.). However, I think there will be some changes made over the next couple months that may change that logjam at the point.

I think that Bobby Jackson should not be re-signed. I thought he was too old 2 years ago when the Rockets were in the playoffs.

With three point guards on the roster now, what is the point of paying him?

Agree if that's what he wants. If he wants many minutes or to play for a win now team, then this is a bad fit. If he's ok, being a player-mentor-coach, he would be a welcome addition. Although he may try to teach Evans that passing is overrated and scoring is all a PG needs to do ;)

I personally think Bobby should be resigned. He might be old, but he still played better than Beno. We might have a bunch of PGs right now, but let's be honest, Tyreke hasn't proven himself, Beno and Sergio may play poorly. We know Bobby will always play a solid 20 minutes a night on a small salary.

We might as well. It'd be nice to have him retire a King too.

I think we should keep Bjax around and I have no problem giving him the vets minimum. He would be a greay tutor for Tyreke. I really would like to have a vet pg around to help with the developmnt of Tyreke at the point. I can't think of a better person to do the job than Bjax, esecially for such a low price.

I say re-sign him.

Garcia
Thompson
Hawes
Martin
Evans
Green
Nocioni
Rodriguez
Bjax

Not the greatest 9-man rotation, but it will do.

But, given Beno's ridiculous contract, he will squeeze in there and either force the Kings to let Bobby go, or just keep him on the injured list all year

I'm not one who gets all mushy all the time over old Sacramento Kings getting older and older. Yes, Bjax was at one time a great 6th man, a super sub, a decent mentor last season for some younger Kings players. But his silly escapade with Donte Greene was not one of his finest moments - although relatively harmless. Towards end of the season he was dragging with all his minutes played (and he mentioned how hard it was on the old legs) plus his production was WAY below par. Nice guy, fun guy, prideful guy, but he won't get a new contract from the Kings - IMO.

Resign him 100%, make him a coach when were going for the big time. Keep him around his presence is highly necessary

I would guess it's up to Bobby. He has said he'd like to play another 2-3 seasons, which surprised me. I'd think he'd want to play for a contender, though.

Good guys who are fan favorites such as Bobby don't come along often enough. If you get one who is loyal to your team (especially if your team is short on legacy such as ours) you do what you can to keep them within your franchise.

I say tell Bobby he can have 1 or 2 years at vet min, then coach, or he can help coach now. Give him an open door.

i agree, i think bjaxx should coach the pg's like brian shaw and reef did, help him help us by letting him contribute by being a coach.

Eighteen replies later, I can now sit squarely on the fence. As a great team influence and mentor he likely would play for the Vet minimum and bring some real experience for the load of youngsters. But OTOH, an assistant coach could be a lot cheaper than the Vet min on a very tight Kings payroll.

But I still favor his role as a player-coach, vet min. and all. We know he is fearless. So it seems are the rookies but to turn that into productive play is a big step and that's where I see BJax and a big help.
