Can you believe that the Monarchs just went 3-0 on this road trip? How about that they beat the Western Conf leader on the road??

I know I'm liking how this team is beginning to gel! :D

Great road trip!!! Love when everybody is stepping up and playing well!! If only we hadn't blown the leads in the 2 games our record would be pretty much flawless! :D

I'm starting to believe it now 6th...that was awesome!Major props to Crystal kelly & the bench for the outstanding hustle.I'm just so proud how the coaching staff sticks with the game plan. They know that it's gonna take time for the pieces to fit, this road trip should really boost the teams confidence. Congrats to the team for working so hard & bringing the fans back a winning record!

On the one hand, I'm happy for this awesome team! This is what we needed to jump-start our season. Looks like we've found a real gem in Crystal Kelly. Thank you, Karleen, for cutting her! She's our spark off the bench, and she's someone who eases the pain of not having DeMya.

On the other hand, I expected us to go at least 2-1. I thought we might struggle winning at New York, but I figured we'd beat the other two teams since those teams are struggling (in Minnesota's case, their struggles are recent).

Job well done, Monarchs!

I am very pleased with this road trip. Especially to knock off the #1 team in the West, on the second night of a back-to-back... at the end of a road trip! Not bad at all.

Great production from the rookies tonight! They picked a perfect game to step up, cause the starters sure had a rough night. Crystal Kelly continues to make Karleen Thompson look like a fool. I think she has definitely earned herself some more minutes. I kept waiting for Boucek to put her back in during crunch time, I thought she was on the bench a little too long.

Nice to see them hold on to the victory. For a few minutes it sure seemed like they were gonna give the game back to Minny. I'm glad they're on their way back home, it should be a great atmosphere on Saturday for LA!

The end of this one got pretty hairy, but i am really pleased with the trip and the progress this team seems to be making in learning to play together. (Thank you Whisnant for snapping up Crystal Kelly :D)

The Monarchs sweep a road trip, and the lakers choke a huge lead on national television...It gets better than that, but not much...

You think Harper could be starting by the All-Star break? Williams-Strong just doesn't have it anymore.

boo yeah ...

i listened to the whole game, most of the first half from the bathtub ... and the M's still hung in there to win ... a good game by Crystal Kelly - the rookie/free agent acquisition so many pined for in the off season ???

i felt that Ticha was heroinic as well ...

Man...they really wanted to not win that game today but stole that game from themselves anyway..:)

2-1 was definitely the best case scenario I saw just because of the stupid travel and playing an early game against NY and then the back to back at the end.

Coach Mo said onSunday, they might just now be starting to understand how when they do the stuff they have been drilling in practice, it perhaps works and she figured maybe they can trust it and build on it. Maybe it is starting to click for them....

They gotta get the win on Saturday or they almost give the win today back. And well...because it is LA....

Yes...thank you Karleen Thompson...and Whiz for window shopping ;)

I could sorta see them doing that, if Harper's growth is such that they would give her minutes equal to or greater than AWS' by late July. The reason that I could see them not doing that is because if they make that move because AWS' production has gone down, they will have hurt their bench. I would also think that Brunson's production would have to improve too. Another reason I would think they wouldn't do it is because Boucek won't let AWS fall that far off the table that she has to yank her.

Having said all that...Adrian may actually not be healthy, which may be what's behind her dropoff.

I think our depth wore down the Minnesota players. Their coach was forced to play some players who don't normally see the floor early because he wanted to keep his regulars fresh for the end, but it didn't work. It didn't throw them off per se, but it just wasn't enough to counter our depth. Our substitutions were natural. Theirs, at the beginning of the game, weren't. We were able to play a lot of players because that's what we do. The early-season losses were frustrating because of those crazy rotations, but now I see why Jenny did what she did.

Crystal Kelly is awesome! I just wanted to bring attention to her once again. ;)

Now we get a chance to hand "the greatest team ever assembled" another loss on Saturday night. With the confidence we gained on this road trip, we should have a good shot at winning the game. That would put us at 6-4 and LA at 6-3 (with a win tomorrow night) or 5-4 (with a loss tomorrow night). Minnesota will likely lose at New York on Saturday, so that would leave them at 6-4. If Seattle splits their road games, they'll be 8-4. If they lose both, they'll be 7-5. We could be 6-4 and in the thick of things in the West by Father's Day. That is wonderful and kinda beyond my expectations at this point.

Is it cool to hope Seattle loses both?....because that's at the top of my revised hope list even if it's not...;)
I have been hoping for them to lose since their "mega roster" was announced, so it's fine by me! :D I was actually "rooting" for Phoenix last night. Yeah, I know.

Don't want to jinx us, but this is shaping up to be a fun ride.

Nice Job Ladies

I am thinking the same thing.
I am gonna try and say this without serving up poo poo platters.
So let me begin with Congrats to our Rookies handling their Business. Crystal Kelly is (in the words of my favorite comedian) is A Gift from Baby Jesus.

Or a GM with little foresight. Either way, I love her and I would like to go on record and remind folks... I wanted this kid long before she was the "in thing". I think we very well may have gotten the steal of the draft.

And Laura Harper is a soldier who I believe will be in the starting line-up sooner than later. A-Dub may at one time may have been a good starter, but she is at best a bench player who is filling a spot til Demya gets back. I never thought she had "It" to lose. Harper is looking like a more consistant option than A-Dub. And Harper's productivity along with Kelly's is increasing by the day.

I have to admit, Adrian has given some nice efforts in her time with us. But I think we are asking more of her than she can deliever. With all things being equal, Harper would be starting soon. And Harper and Kelly's minutes should definately increase. Moving A-Dub back to the Support Player she was meant to be.

Third... I believe I have given Ticha her props for the stepped up season she is having thus far. Good for her. But I got to tell you, I am super glad Nicole finally caught that flight back from Russia. I have no idea who the girl was that has been impersonation her up til this road trip. But hey we can sent that girl on vacation now.

I am a tad bit more optimistic about this team and where we are headed. Cause this was a BIG BIG Roadtrip, Way to get it done ladies.

It looks as though the Rotations are still a little whacked out but as long as Kara and Nicole are on the floor A LOT we should continue to see this type of play.

#20
Why wouldn't they? They had an All-Star Game in 2004, right?
Sorta. It was actually a group of selected WNBA players against the U.S. National Team. The game took place at the Radio City Music Hall in New York, and it was kinda like a sendoff before the Olympics.

So far, I have heard no word if something similar will happen again this season.

I think it's just one of those situations where it doesn't really matter who starts and who comes off the bench. Just like with Chelsea and Kara, Chelsea got the starts, but Kara was out on the court at the end most times. I like Laura (and Crystal) being sparks off the bench. I don't really seeing Adrian being that spark and bringing that energy. I would take what I can get out of her starting in hopes that she can at least neutralize the opposing center. Then bring in the rookies.

I would also like to see Jenny give Charel an opportunity to get off the inactive list, even though we are already guard heavy. Maybe sit Kim a couple games on the inactive list?

Great Road Trip!!!

I am absolutely thrilled and surprised by the abrupt turnaround of this young team.:D Although the Monarchs have a grizzled veteran in Ticha, I am starting to realize that the rest of this team is really young, including Powell (25 years old 5th year), Brunson (26, 5th year) and Lawson (27, 6th year).

Now that "my girl" Nicole has gotten it going, they need to find a way to get Rebekkah going. She is not playing up to where she should be. Maybe tomorrow night against Parker, she can let her know as Flava Flav would say, "What Time it is".

BEAT LA, BEAT LA!!!!
