SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The newest addition to the Sacramento Kings was presented at a press conference Thursday afternoon.
Shooting guard Bonzi Wells, who was a part of the trade that sent Bobby Jackson to the Memphis Grizzlies, brings both baggage and talent to the team.
Sacramento will be Wells' third stop in eight years. Drafted by the Portland Trailblazers, Wells was traded shortly after he flashed an obscene hand gesture to a Portland fan. He spent last season with the Grizzlies; however, he was benched during the playoffs after some high-profile run-ins with coach Mike Fratello and team President Jerry West.
Wells now says he's ready to show Sacramento that he's grown as a person and a player.
"It's been documented that I've been through a lot, even my days in Portland and Memphis," Wells said. "I've seen the wild side of the NBA. Now, I want to be back to the fun side of the NBA. Every time I came to Arco Arena, these fans around here have been ridiculously crazy. You can't even hear the coach talk, and you're right in his face. So, I want to be a part of that love again, and this is where the love is at."
