Welcome JJ Hickson

Welcome JJ. LeBron left you at the altar with 11 other malnourished children. Are you gonna take that from him? You have actual talent around you now. Relish it, become an all-arounder, and we will love you, as stated above.

Welcome to the Sacramento Kings, JJ. I second the above advice about working hard, playing hard and being a good teammate. We'll love you, if you do. :)

Welcome, JJ.

I was a big supporter of drafting Tristan Thompson and since he was drafted by the Cavs, it opened the door for acquiring JJ Hickson. The basketball world works in strange ways.

Love the trade - it is so hard to acquire young bigs in the NBA, so good job Petrie. Hope it works out better than expected.

Welcome JJ!

At the beginning of 10-11 season one of my co-workers said that I should watch him. I didn't and am really glad he is part of the team!

Thats a large leap! I did it once, and I was still me on the other side.. Wasted effort!
haha that's one of the best kingsfans posts ever.
P.S. Welcome J.J. indeed dude has all the potential in the world and Sacramento is going to give him a chance.

On the one hand I'm excited about Hickson. Dude put up some beastly lines at the end of last season.

OTOH, curiosity has taken me to some Cavs message boards to see how they feel about the trade...Majority thinks (and this is with a realistic sense of Casspi as a player) that they won the trade. Supposedly J.J. is a pretty low IQ player, a bit of a black hole, terrible defender, net negative on the court AND has an overinflated sense of worth... (apparently) He wants a max contract (!!!).

Still a good prospect. But I dont like all the selfish/dumb players we're stockpiling. Is that the team identity GP is going for?

Trade is still low risk/high reward in my book. Westphail didnt know how to use Casspi... And swapping a SF for a good, young, PF is a win in my book. Doubtful that the Cavs get the heavily protected pick as well. And if they do get the pick, then we're a good enough team to not need another prospect.

So welcome JJ! Prove the doubters wrong, and learn to play a bit of defense while you're at it!

Might be hard to have the over inflated ego when you're on a team with young lottery picks and you're not considered to have more talent than them. If we sign Dalembert, he's probably not even going to start. So he'd be considered the 6th best player on our team? That's if you think he'll be better than Jimmer. I don't think I'm being a homer and overestimating the talent on our team.

I'm still happy to have Hickson and wouldn't be upset if he played like a max contract guy and proved the doubters wrong. Excited to see what he can do for us.

Yeah dont get me wrong... My first reaction to the trade was one of "YESSS!! AWESOME!!!"

...Just a bit disconcerting that Cavs folk were like; "Meh. Good riddence."

I think part of their dislike for JJ is that last season he was arguably their best player. That means he had to live up to impossible LeBron expectations, as well as shoulder a lot of the blame for how terrible that team was. I think JJ is going to do a lot better here, where he isnt the #1 guy. Going to be fun to see what he can do.

My main issue with the trade is that it might bump my boy JT down in the depth chart :p

Last seasons stats:

JT 23 mins 8.8 pts 6.1 boards
JJ 28 mins 13.8 pts 8.7 boards

could very well be a potent force for us the pair. 12th and 19th picks in the 08 draft respectively

Not a big JJ Hickson fan but he does seem pretty athletic so I guess it won't hurt seeing what he can do for this team.

The one thing I don't see most analysts talking about when analyzing this deal is how many big men in the NBA actually average double-doubles? Attitude aside, he's cheap, young and he averaged a double double in the last 20 games of the season. How much young PF's average double doubles period? And you got one for a player who really isn't very good and a lower first round pick?

No brainer, if you ask me.

Now if only we could undo the Salmons trade.....
