Welcome Hassan Whiteside!

It would make an absolutely beastly starting front court ...

PG - *Tyreke, Udrih
SG - Trade Landry, Garcia
SF - *Greene, *Casspi
PF - *Whiteside, Thompson
C - *Cousins, Dalembert

Replace Dalembert with a backup center and come up on a SG somehow and this could be our lineup in a couple years if everything goes according to plan !

* = I can see all of these players being all stars - although I realize it is unrealistic to expect it, but you gotta have faith !

This guy could be a great weak-side shot blocker. I'd really like to see him and Cousins play together, then put Greene at the 3 and you could have some major defensive potential down the line if they all keep their heads on straight. Great, great pick in the second round because you have so little to lose.

Yah I was thinking about this earlier... Cousins/Whiteside on the floor in a couple years would be killer.. Whiteside is awesome in the weak side D, and blocking shots from any little man trying to bring it in.. If the opposing team tries to go strong side they have Cousins to deal with.. How flipping awesome is that!! Then you got Evans outside guarding the perimeter with Greene? Yikes..

Mark this post.. In 2-3 years we will be among the top 5 in opponent field goal %.

Landry or Thompson for O.J. Mayo

I'll mark it, second it, and add to it. No reason why the Kings cant be the #1 defensive team in the league in 2-3 years. All those 7 foot wingspans and height...yikes...

Welcome Hassan!

Show the people out there that you would have deserved going in the 1st round, although I´m happy that you slipped all the way down to #33 :D

Welcome dude...just no more flip flops, k?

In all seriousness, I wanted to get him in the first round if we could finagle another late lottery pick, when I saw that he was on the board at 33, I was blown away, and pretty sure the Kings would take him (after all, he did work out twice for us).

This is a shocking miracle! Just WOW. How could Sacramento get so lucky! Whiteside at #33? Some fans even wants him for the Kings as high as #5!

I think god Neismith sent you here in Sacramento!

You are most welcome to the fans of Sacramento Whiteside!:)

PS.
It is really shocking. I was waiting for his name, slept, then woke up just now.....and then we also have Whiteside?

Banger and shotblocker on this draft!

Helleluja!:p

Did you pinch yourself as you saw the lottery results ? lol ...

A lot of people seem to think adding two "knuckleheads" without much veteran leadership is going to create a lot of problems and turn out a disaster for us ... how much truth is in these statements ? Are we really in desperate need of a veteran leader to help guide and teach our young guys what it takes to be successful, or being surrounded by a young team make them fit in better and catch on to the hard working mentality you need to succeed in the NBA ? I remember Tyreke said he believes a true veteran leader would be a big help in motivating people to take thing more seriously.

It really is such a great deal considering where we picked him. Top 10 upside with a second round pick is great pick efficiency and we were really lucky. I think a lot of teams just didn't feel they had the luxury of drafting such a raw player. Since we drafted Cousins, I'm sure we felt far more comfortable taking him, and if he can eventually become a starter with Cousins, that's a frontcourt to hang your hat on.

When I saw who we picked I couldn't believe it. I had forgotten about you, and couldn't believe that you were still available. Just a month ago you were talked about as a lottery pick. I'm sure you were disappointed to drop, but we're excited to have you.

Well sometimes you need a little luck along the way, and there's no doubt that the Kings just got lucky. Deserved luck in my opinion. Turns out that Whiteside has Attention Deficit problems and thats the reason he dropped. It explains his slow learning curve, but its something that can certainly be overcome. So even with this revelation, I'm still shocked he fell as far as he did. But happy!

It was mentioned by his coach this morning that this guy only has 3 years of organized basketball experience. I've heard by Westphal and Petrie that he's a good shooter now. His college basketball coach, who also coached Noah, was saying that Whiteside has greater talent than Noah (though is not there yet to where he has Noah's motor or work ethic). Petrie was extolling his great potential this morning. This guy could truly be an incredible diamond in the rough.

I read that article and it's just shocking, not because Whiteside dropped this far but teams didn't do their homework on something as simple as ADD. Not only is ADD not an issue, it's a plus! A big, big plus! I still get the feeling that people react to ADD like it is autism. They are two completely different conditions. I'm not a doctor but I've done many research on it.

I just want to say a few things that apply to persons with ADD; first, they are ultra competitive. These are the guys who can't stand losing and do whatever it takes to win. They tend to go all out on the court, tend to do too much, and the trick is to get them to calm down and play within themselves. But I'll say it again, these guys are super, super competitive.

They are very intelligent and learn things quickly. I've often heard ADD persons said, "Wow, my IQ is at a genius level but I have ADD, it's ironic isn't it?" Well, no, that statement describes 80% of the ADD persons. The reason they have ADD to begin with is because their brains works too fast, jumping from one thing to the next. The issue is their focus, not their intelligence. It's not that they can't focus, but it takes the right activity for them to do so. They've been known to hyper-focus on something they enjoy doing. An ADD person is someone who put off doing the laundry while rebuilding a car engine for over twelve hours straight, skipping lunch and dinner. Once that person zeroed in on a particular task, nothing can distract that person. A firefighter once found an ADD person typing away a term paper on her desk, unaware of the smoke alarm that had gone off, the fire engine and siren out the window, and smoke all around her.

Lastly, a director who likes to hire ADD persons once told me: a normal person has an easy time with the easy tasks and a tough time with the difficult tasks; an ADD person is the opposite. An ADD'er is someone who can single handedly rebuild the company's entire network system but can't seem to properly fill out a timesheet.

How does all that relates to basketball? I always thought that an ADD persons, because of their nature, would have advantage in a very competitive, dog-eat-dog, high pressure environment. Michael Phelps has ADD. And I'd say he succeeded because of it, not in spite of it. I suspect a lot of professional athletes have ADD, they just dont know it. I hope Whiteside succeed in the NBA but I know that if he fails, its not because of a lack of desire, work ethic, or competitiveness. If he loves basketball, he will work at it. It's in his nature.

And stay away from the ADD drugs. It turns someone from an ADD infected competitive SOB into a normal person. Whiteside has gotten this far with his condition, no reason to change it now. Although I'd like to add that there is varying degree of ADDness. Some are worse than others, imo, the smarter you are, the faster your brain goes, and the worse your condition. It's is one of ADD's biggest irony, but quite simple to overcome.

Oh I forgot to post this earlier. So when Whiteside gets a block, I think the Kings should play the sound clip from, I think it's the Bugs Bunny cartoon, Hassaaaan CHOP!

Welcome to Sacramento Hassan. I think he will like it here as this citys a bit "homey" and lowkey. he can relax and not be overwhelmed by his venture into the nba.

There was a lot of talk about trying to aquire thabeet. So my question is, who would you rather have out of the two?

There was a lot of talk about trying to aquire thabeet. So my question is, who would you rather have out of the two?

Thabeet was overall #2 pick and before draft projected very high in last years lottery. He also played at a major school in UCONN. Whiteside was projected mostly as a late first rounder this year after playing at mid-major Marshall Univ. - seen more as a project than Thabeet. Now it looks as if both are long-term projects since Thabeet spent large part of last season in the D-League. So, we probably know a bit more about Thabeet than Whiteside at this point. Thus, for me I can't answer the question until Whiteside at least has a go at Kings summer league, training camp, pre-season and at least a few games as a pro - even if they're more D-League minutes than NBA time on the floor.

I really get the feeling that Whiteside is going to be able to contribute more than people expect and earlier than expected. The fact that he can actually shoot the ball along with his physical gifts should allow him to make an impact, especially if hes guarding powerforwards instead of centers.

Oh well. Just here to check if I am not really dreaming and if truly we miraculously got this kid at #33.

Welcome again to Sacramento Whiteside!!!!!!
