Welcome Donte DiVincenzo (Take Two)

From a Bucks fan in another forum:

A Bucks fan's introduction to Donte DiVincenzo aka Big Ragu

Donte is above average at a few things:

  • Off ball defense. this is his one elite skill. seriously, watch the video...he's excellent at it. Sometimes it feels like he knows what the other team's offense will do before they do.
  • Cutting/moving off ball on offense. you should be very excited to watch him play with Sabonis. match made in heaven offensively
  • being very athletic. he uses his athleticism well to get rebounds at a very high rate for a combo guard
He has shown promise in two other areas

  • passing. he makes flashy passes now and then but also makes dumb turnovers
  • 3 point shooting. he made big strides in his 3 point shooting last year, but has shot terribly since coming back this year. his history going back to Villanova is somewhat ambiguous as to whether or not he can actually be a good shooter.
He's not so good in a couple other areas:

  • on ball defense. jumps for pump fakes, doesn't have the lateral speed to stay in front of quick point guards. this was minimized with Giannis and Brook playing behind him on the Bucks but might be more noticeable on the Kings
  • rim finishing. he was somehow a great rim finisher his rookie year, but has been very bad since then.
He's one of those players that is fun to focus on and watch throughout the game because he has a great feel for the game and does all the little things right. BBIQ is his biggest asset on offense and defensive. He impacts the game without having the ball in his hands, which makes him a good fit on just about any team.

Good thing the Kings have an elite on-ball defender in Davion that they can use him with then like the Bucks sorta used he and Jrue.

Personally, I think this is McNair's replacement for Ty. a defensive 2-guard who also got some playmaking skills. Some areas, DDV is better but overall, when he's healthy, he can do a solid imitation of Haliburton.

Yeah, DDV is obviously not as gifted a passer or lead guard as Haliburton is (or a shooter) but he's very well suited for playing next to Fox as an off-ball mover and stronger defender. Probably never going to be a spectacular player and he certainly doesn't have Tyrese's upside but I'm amazed we were able to get him at all.

Yeah, and his off-ball cutting could become deadly now with Sabonis. If he can rebuild his 3pt, this one could be the biggest steal of the trades we've made.

Man, I am excited. Davion, DDV, and Holiday will be insane on defense. Imagine always having a stud Or two defending the wings at all times. Maybe this will get Fox to up his defense, something he is capable of doing when he wants.

I like the tenacity he’s gonna bring to this team. For a crappy team that can sometimes take their foot off the gas, you can never have too many of those guys.

Hopefully he can be like Iman Shumpert, but actually good at basketball!

Have we seen any sound bites or quotes from Donte after the trade? Anyone know if he’s playing tonight?

I saw some tweets a bit ago saying they are eligible to play today. Not sure if they are actually playing or not.
