We need a bad guy.

I think if you wanted Brooks you have to keep HB.

More like he get's Sasha's money, or he takes a prove it minimum type deal - he'd be replacing TD kind of/sort of?

I suspect he's on the straight outs in Memphis because he's a bad locker room guy. We don't need that.
If that’s the case I agree. I think this might be more to do with him going way overboard with the villain role, making it too much about himself while also not playing well at all these playoffs. He seems to have really veered off these last few years in terms of this persona.

Look at Dray. Look at Kerr (who I am not kidding, I have lost all respect for) saying we don't care if he gets us wins he can do whatever he wants.

Fact is Brooks didn't get them wins with his antics and so they are scapegoating him.

Or maybe he is the root cause. Someone needs to figure it out.

I am not saying sign him. But I am highly suspect the problem in Memphis is Brooks alone and not Memphis itself. When I look at that tire fire the only thing I really think of is how mad I am that Vlade and crew didn't even bring JJJ in for a workout.

If I recall this started when he nailed GP2 in the playoffs. I remember giving him a pass because he didn’t have a reputation at the time as being dirty or having a bad attitude. He really stepped it up a notch after that lol

Wow, Memphis did Brooks dirty here. For an organization to stand by the public humilations and antics of Ja Morant and then throw Brooks under the bus in a very public way is just wrong. The dude is an impending free agent and you just tanked his chances of getting a fair deal from another team. If you are not going to re-sign the guy, then fine. No need to publiclly humilate the guy.

Besides his on court technicals and trash talk, you don't hear of any off court problems with Brooks like you do Ja. Maybe there is more to this story, but for Memphis to draw the line like this, Ja should be held responisble too.

Anyways, if Brooks can be had for a 1 or 2 year "prove me deal" (i.e. 1 or 2 years at 8-10 mil per), I would do it. He and Mitchell would create some real defensive havoc for this team. Could change the whole team defensive identity for this team to have an enforcer. Could you imagine him going toe to toe with Draymond!

I Believe this had to do with the hand injury. He changed the way he was shooting the ball, was not able to use the injured had to fight for position, could not use both hands to pursue the rebound.
Yes, but Sabonis was dealing with the hand injury all season without this issue.

It may have been due to the chest stomp though, maybe he had more pain and restriction due to chest pain than he let on.

I think it was ultimately the injuries and the matchup. Not necessarily Looney, but long rebounds + Looney + the rest of our team being out-hustled to the ball (when it mattered most in game 7)

Steven Adams is a guy who's tough as nails and no one in the league wants to **** with, without being dirty. He'd be perfect here if he was available, even if just to not have to face him twice per year
Steven Adams would not have escaped the GS series without getting called a dirty player. But a guy like him fits a hole in our roster precisely.

There must have been behind the scenes issues with the team. Probably got into with the GM. I wouldn't sign a guy like Brooks, when we have a good defensive wing in Kessler Edwards that we can develop and really find out what he's capable of. If he doesn't cut it, then look for someone else

I’d love a guy like Valanciunas if he can play alongside Domas. Do we know if they play together effectively on their national team? I believe a couple years ago there were rumors of our interest in him at the trade deadline but I could be wrong.

Well apparently in his post season exit interview he said he wants a larger role on offense.

I would take Brooks on a cheapish deal, Matt Barnes had a good season in Sac in terms of impact coming off the bench for a while in the season he was here. The guy plays hard despite being dumb and there is plenty worse SG/SF getting significant playing time imo.

I'm a fan of Brooks' attitude and defense but not a fan of his impact stats. They're anywhere from "meh" to bad, depending on where you look.

Dude can't even shoot 40% from the field and he wants a bigger role. So either he has no idea what efficiency is or he somehow thinks if he's able to shoot more, then his efficiency will go up. Massive red flag for a guy who obviously needs to be taking less shots, not more.

He needs to take some notes from PatBev on knowing his role.

So if I’ve been reading the comments over the last few days correctly, to complement Sabonis the Kings need an aggressive enforcer and lockdown defender who crashes the glass with reckless abandon, but is also a stretch 4 with range, able to both move without the ball and slash toward the basket, and the cold blood to hit 3s in crunch time.

Does this Charles Oakley / Robert Horry hybrid exist in this world?

Bobby Portis? :)

He would be a perfect fit in this team. With the bucks flaming out in the first round, I'm sure there will be changes made there. I didn't really watch the bucks/heat series closely to know if Portis was part of the problem or not, but seems like he's the type of peripheral piece they could try to move out.

The problem was Giannias was hurt, they missed a crap load of free throws, Bud's brother died in the middle of it and their two best perimeter players couldn't shoot.

Reportedly 6'11 with a 7'5" wingspan 18 year old James Nnaji is built like a true powerhouse, considered raw he's monstrously powerful already, suprisingly mobile, suprisingly good in a defensive stance and moves with a lot of force, hes an exceptional athelete. Started playing basketball in 2016. ESPN has him projected close to our 1st round selection at 24. If your looking for an enforcer this kid seems to be a good candidate.

Or I'd offer up Jaxson Hayes whos a Restricted Free Agent with the Pelicans but they didnt really seem to value him much this year in the last of his rookie contract.

He obviously had this incident with police kneeling on his neck and is on probation for it... so theres that.

and he's not some powerful enforcer type but he can certainly block weak layups to smithereens as he's ultra athletic, explosive and long armed
