We known what to do with the first 2 picks...

Just for fun, lets say the Kings recieved the third pick in the draft. What are everyone's thoughts on where we should go with this pick.

Take into account if Artest opts out, and if we try to resign Beno in your arguements.

I might be crazy, but I would take Mayo! We havent had a legit star in a while, and I think he can become a better agent zero, better because his defense will be. I like bayless too, but I think Mayo/Martin Combo is flat out scary! from the interviews I have heard coming out of usc, Oj is a leader, alot more mature, always trying to get better, a gym rat. I know I am the crazy kingsfan, but I think this would def help us out. I know we need a power forward. but....

Mayo I think can adapt to the point. likes the pressure, thats what i would do at 3.

I Like Brooke Lopez here. He has the size, tenacity, and smarts to be a long time fixture on the Kings front line, shoring up our most glaring weakness, post defense.

I'm thinking along these lines too. Lopez or Anthony Randolph. Basically the Kings biggest need is at the 4. I think if we pulled off a Lakers-style fleecing for Pau Gasol we would be in the playoff picture too. After the 4 spot, you need a point guard. We all know Beno can start in this league and he is very adaptable, but we need a PG that other PGs have to adapt to, like Ty Lawson. He's my second choice behind DJ Augustine for pgs in the draft.

I don't know if PF is the best position for Lopez, he could hack it but ultimately he's going to be lackng some athleticism to stick there. I wouldn't mind taking him because he offers a lot defensively that we lack. Bayless I wouldn't mind and Griffin I would seriously consider taking that high. Probably in the end I'd want us to trade down though, maybe to the nets and get their lotto + later first round pick too; I don't know if they'd do it but an idea like that.

I may have my biases, but Brook Lopez is plenty athletic. The only questions I have about Brook are about his maturity.

I'm not trying to say he isn't athletic, but he isn't quite athletic enough to stick at PF offensively, he can do it but I don't think it would best utilize his abilities. He's got good athleticism, but not great.

Lopez... Has to be Lopez if we get the #3. Lopez can play with Hawes on the front line and this would help with the D in the paint when we start Hawes. Lopez has been playing PF pretty much all year with Robin Lopez playing Center (although Brook does step into the C spot when Robin is benched).

As for Randolph.. No way in hell you use a 3rd pick on him. If you want a guy like Randolph you trade your #3 to NJ for #10 or #11 (wherever they draft) & #21 + a player, while hoping to dump a salary on NJ.

Let's say #3 and Brad Miller dump to NJ for the #10-#11, #21, and Marcus Williams. Then Sac drafts Either Love or Randolph with the #10 and Robin Lopez with the #21? :) :D

Well thats a big assumption that they will give us Marcus Williams. I say give them KT and Douby for Stromile Swift with the same pick exchange, draft Randolph at the 10 and get Westbrook or Collison with the 21. Or hope Augustine or Bayless falls.

Brook Lopez ...

Brook Lopez may seem a little too redundant with Hawes down low, both have solid low post games and decent range on their shots. Not to say I wouldn't love to have them both on my team, I think picking some pieces that compliment Hawes down low would seem like the most logical move.

IMO I would pair Hawes with a bruiser like Griffin.

I like Griffin's Carlos Boozer compairison, Hawes reminds me a Miller/Okur, I've always been a fan of that tandem. Unfortunatley, neither Boozer or Okur can block shots to save their lives.

Probably Mayo. He's built for the NBA and is a PG. Possible superstar. That's assuming he comes out.

As a side note, I'm really convinced Rose will be the best player out of this draft. His combination of size, amazing athletic ability and leadership skills are quite unbelievable for a 19 year old. He's poised and under control all the time and he's a fantastic passer. He'll be a complete star.

Definitely Brook Lopez. As Gary stated, he's played PF all year. He would have no trouble playing along side Hawes. Like Hawes, he can play away from the basket or under the basket. The only knock I have on him is that he's not that good a passer, but improved in that catagory this year. Defensively he would be a tremendous help, he's a great shot blocker.

I think "great" is a stretch, he is a good shot blocker, made better knowing he could take chances with Robin standing behind him. Besides, Robin averaged 2.3 to Brook's 2.1.

This isn't to say I couldn't work the same way with Hawes playing along side with him, but I doubt we would see the production at the NBA level.

I would still rather see a power player next to Hawes. I don't think Brook Lopez fits the bill.

Theres no way you could pass up Mayo or Bayless. Lopez does some nice things but as far as talent goes he can't compete with either Bayless or Mayo, in fact i don't think its even close in terms of their impact on the NBA. My personal preference would be Bayless by a narrow margin because i think he has better pg skills but landing either one would be fine by me.

On a side note Griffin has announced that he will return for his sophomore year so he shouldn't be part of this conversation.

Bayless isn't falling out of the top 5. Let alone falling all the way to 21.

I would take my draft sandwich with grilled shark but hold the mayo. O.J. is a 2 guard not a point. Beno will be our PG and we have Kevin. So O.J. is bad choice. DEFENSE, thats what Kings need, a defender in the body of a 3-4-5. Hawes is a few years from a good defender, if he becomes one. Mikki fouls too much but is OK at the 4. Shelden is unproven yet and may or may not make a really good defender. I'll do a summary of Mock Drafts laying on my lounge chair in Maui next week, sipping a Margarita with Buffett in my ear buds. Aloha!!

I have watched Brook play for two years and saw almost every game that was televised and I'm telling you he is a very good shot blocker. Spare me the stats. Robin played center on the team and was in the low post most of the time, therefore getting more opportunities to block shots. Brook played PF, and away from the basket a lot. He once blocked 12 shots in one game.

Golden rule number one is that if you have a choice between a good big man and a good small man, you always take the big man. Their a lot harder to come by.
