[Game] [VSL Game 1] Kings vs Magic, 7/10/2025 4:30 Pacific 7:30 Eastern (NBATV)

So far it sounds good defensively in terms of strategy. The offense? eh, it's summer league so it'll be great sometimes followed by slop. We all know if this team has any chance to be something next season it comes down to what kind of defense the Kings play and unlike in 2021 when Bobby used the exact right system defensively only to watch them go 180 on pressure then play off and sag once the season started this might actually be a decent preview of what the Kings do IN SEASON because they're all on the same page coaching wise. We saw when Bobby Jackson coached the team to that SL title if you do what they say they want to do and hound the ball 94 feet and not just go for steals and blocks then you can win.

Did they say if Carter was going to play all the SL games or just the first one or two?

Hopefully he's playing in all of them since he didn't really look to be an established player last year who has nothing to prove in SL.

Coach Mistry said as far as he knows he'll be available for the whole thing. Yeah, this is literally his first SL experience, no reason to hold him out. Jones and Crawford maybe get the yank? but they should still play too.

Thanks that's good to hear. I don't think there's a single established NBA player on the team so it would make sense that they all played as much as possible.

I think the only guys who "should" be pulled in a SL game is where they're clearly already established in the rotation. Like Keegan, cup of coffee for him in the Cali classic, drop a quick 40+, and get out. None of our guys their this year are even close to established, so let's get as much a look at them as we can

The only thing I can think is if they still need to fill out rotation spots and are willing to do that with SL invites so they'll really look at them the last few games. This doesn't look like a team very deep on the backend to where they'll be filling roster spots with the 10th-12th men on a SL squad however. I just hope both Crawford and Jones show out and maybe become easy, quick solutions to some of the roster problems.

That was a great sequence by Carter. Breaks the press, gets to the paint, gets an easy look to Raynaud who's shooting FT's.

Exactly what we want to see with the PG skills!
