Clooney and HBO tip off for new basketball series

George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh have been drafted into the NBA. According to Daily Variety, the pair's Section Eight production label has teamed up with NBA Entertainment and Maloof Television to produce an unscripted comedy series set in the world of hoops, which HBO is negotiating to pick up.

The new series will focus on the adventures of creating an expansion team in the NBA and will be told through the eyes of the team's coach, a veteran player, a up-and-coming rookie and a cheerleader. The episodes will follow the team and the key players as they struggle to find their place in the league. The untitled series will combine a mix of reality and fiction.

Although no deals are in place, former Dallas Mavericks coach Don Nelson is said to be negotiating to take the role of the coach, with former L.A. Lakers center Vlade Divac in talks to take on the role of the seasoned vet. Variety reports that the producers will have unprecedented access to the NBA during filming.

--Guess Vlade is a former Lakers center huh?

Um, dude. Check the date out on the press release and then go back in the archives...

;)

lol I know he's played for the Lakers(did you actually think I didn't?) but as a Kings fan I will always consider him the ex-Kings center since he had his best years here. Especially in an article that mentions the Maloofs. I get pissed off when he is referred to as an ex-laker, but I'm die hard like that, guess you don't understand.
Hey VF, What I'm not alllowed to miss a post ;) ?

As much as I care about Vlade, I think we all have to remember he started and finished his career as a Laker. So, to anyone NOT a Kings fan, that's probably what they're going to reference. (Probably because a lot of these writers don't have a clue about the NBA anyway...)

As far as missing a post goes, um...no. You're supposed to check in every single day and read every new thread.

;)

EDIT: If you look at the bar on the top of the page, you'll see a link titled "New posts" - If you click on it when you sign onto Kings fans, it will list all the posts made since your last visit. So you really have no excuse.

That all you have to say?

I had a question for you , since you seemed puzzled about the fact that they mention Vlade as a Laker. He did finish his career as part of the Lakers, so when people refer to him, they are going to say the ex-Laker.

I told you I wasn't puzzled, just pissed cuz I'm a die hard Kings fan. Get it yet?

VF21, sorry but I don't agree with you. I think of Vlade as King and I watched him in the NBA since day one. His best days were with Kings, he mattered the most when he was with the Kings...Oh, yeah! He's a KING.

I think Vlade would be a great choice. He's just funny. You have to laugh just by looking at him. I hope this really gets made...

By the way, does anyone here watch My Name Is Earl ?
Now that show is just killing me. What a great idea and it works...

But he went to the NBA Finals as a Laker. ;)
