Any targets we should go after?

These guys look intriguing to invite to camp.

Zabian Dowdell
Ali Traore
Avis Wyatt
Ron Lewis
Marko Tomas
Kyle Visser

Oh Lewis definetly gets an invite. Apparently he really impressed us in hsi owrkout with us. Not sure he fills the need exactly but when we are talking about undrafted FA you want to pick up the most talented regardless of their position.

If the problem with the Kings is that the players at the end of bench weren't waving towels with enough enthusiasm, these guys will definitely help. Sorry to thread crap, I'm just pissed at Geoff Petrie for continuing what he's done so well for two years: Nothing.

this is crazy who cares who the undrafted players are we already got 2 ! how many good or even ok (noticed i didnt use great)teams have more than 2 ? someone needs to close this thread unless you guys wanna let go Price and Williams. after drafting Hawes and missing out on everyone else WORTH having why in the world would be go and get any more projects?

Why wouldn't you?!

If you can get yourself a good long term player from undrafted batch why wouldn't you do it?!

Ben Wallace was undrafted, so was Brad Miller and both have had fine careers and both have been All-Stars at some point in their career.

We have 9 guys currently under contract. Assuming Ronnie and Justin aren't lured away, and assuming we sign Hawes rather than otherwise dispose of him, that gives us 12, the minimum we're allowed to have. The maximum is 15, so I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be talking to Ron Lewis and Bobby Brown.

Not much interest in Visser, slow unathletic bigs who can't defend are something we already stocked up on.

Did you know that Portland bought the #24 pick off of Phoenix for $3M cash? I don't know why the **** we didn't do that. 26-30, for example, were Aaron Brooks, Aaron Afflalo, Tiago Splitter, Alando Tucker and Petteri Koponen, decent prospects all.

And this is my only gripe with our draft day!

Why is it that Portland buys a first wound pick for two years in a row and we can't do it in a draft that was deep on quality. Imagine how well we would have done had we given the Suns $3 million for #24 and drafted Tiago Splitter.

Splitter will obviously stay in Europe for one more year but we would instantly add 2 big man that complement each other and we would have some depth in our front court going into the long term future.

I got no problem with us drafting Hawes but not buying that pick was something that really disappointed me today!

I agree 100%. That really pissed me off too, I can't think of any other reason for not doing it other then the Maloofs must not be committed to really spending money and doing what needs to be done to make this franchise competitive again. There is no excuse for an ownership group that is talking about rebuilding as well as wanting more picks to pass up the opportunity to get one without giving up any players at all.

I have been saying this since they refused to re-sign Jim Jackson. It's been obvious - ever since Webber went down, the Maloofs made a decision that winning is not worth all costs. It's their money, I can't really complain. But this has been 4 years running now.

Paul Allen $$$ > Maloof $$

I just think they wanted to not trade it to a divisional rival for basically free, and who knows the Maloofs were probably unwilling to pony up 3 million to get better...they have been cheapskates of late.

I am more interested in things such as Indian trading a 2009 2nd round pick for Miami's #39 this year. then Kopennen, who we were rumored to like, gets picked at #30....but traded for the #42 pick and cash. Could we not have then, tradd OUR 2009 wnd rounder for Miami's pick and then traded the #39 for Kopenen (with a little cash thrown in?) I suspect we could. But we did none of that kind of maneuvering. Why does Geoff bother watching and working all those people out if we never manage to pull off even minor deals for the picks it would take to get them? Is he just hoping to catch somebody else who falls undrafted?

Maloofs can't?!

Allen is richer, and you can almost smell the go get 'em excitement up in Portland at this point. That whole franchise is all kinds of energized, and just sparing no expense, pursuing every angle. So what's one more extravagance when you are trying to create an incredibly young proto-dynasty?

THis year, OK, I can understand that but last year Blazers also bought a pick that got the Sergio!!!!

2 years in a row they buy a pick. Last year there wasn't that much excitement and they went on to buy the pick. Why can't we do that when they are players there that could really help us (ie Splitter)

Now that's a Freudian slip if I've ever seen one!:) They sure wounded me when they got that pick.

We really need to pick up Ron Lewis. The guy has an NBA ready body, he's a good athlete and has range on his shot. I can see why GP likes him. He would be a nice pickup and another exciting young piece for us to look forward to in the season, assuming he makes the team (which he might if we hadn't suck a cluster of wings - trades need to be made). He looks like a smart kid too.
Wyatt looks interesting also, as does Traore.
