Tyrese Watch

I've seen many Pacer fans say they think Tyrese has let fame and notoriety take over his mindset, as opposed to being focused on his game. Hopefully that isn't true, but, his ability to go all world one minute, before completely disappearing the next, will continue to be concerning.

Been three weeks and haven't heard his name much except to clown him despite him having a huge game during this stretch. Like over on reddit they are making memes just pooping all over him.

Watching game now he has 4 points entering the 4th. On twitter right now he is getting roasted as the worst contract in the NBA.

Is this turning into a Ben Simmons situation? It can't be?

I wouldn't go that far yet. But I do think that Hali has regressed back to his mean, which would be closer to a 18 pts 9 assist type PG instead of the 27 pts, 12 asst PG (for 2 months last year) that landed him that super max contract.

I loved Hali when he was a King, but he has enjoyed the lime life a little too much since his sudden "stardom" last year. He needs to get back to focusing on basketball and not worry about being a podcast star and WWE shows during the year. I had my doubts that he could become a legit #1 option on offense (i.e. 24ppg scorer) and I think we are seeing that now. He's a pass first PG and secondary scorer.

His Home/Road shooting splits this season are eye-opening for sure. He had that insane stretch at the beginning of last year, but his counting stats outside of that are pretty consistent. I think he is a good player but not great when the contract says he's great. Expectations really alter the lens from which things are viewed and evaluated. Ultimately, I think the expectations have changed the most (outside of his shooting woes on the road this year).

I had always said the true comparison between Fox and Haliburton would come when Hali got paid. He got paid and it's ugly. Still rooting for the guy. Him triggering the Derrick Rose rule was a nightmare for a young team though.
Yup, Fox has proven he can be that Alpha dog scorer for a few seasons, Hali did it for 2 months and got paid like a superstar. That Derrick Rose rule contract is going to hog tie Indiana from getting that true Alpha number 1, they really need.

That 2 month stretch just 100% elevated everyone's expectation of him. There was literal talks if he could be the best player in the NBA and compete with Ant as a the "new face" of American basketball.

I'm very confident he's still an all-star (long-term, probably not this year with his start) and one of the best offensive hubs in basketball, but it's very clear everyone jumped the gun on him being next up.

Not for nothing we're also seeing what adding a real vet leader is doing for Fox and the extra Rose money Hali got comes basically at the expense of adding that piece especially since Pascal didn't take a discount like Domas did.

I remember him driving me crazy with his passivity at times. Very similar to Keegan in that way, but Hali straight up looks scared these days. It’s weird

I think they’ve found out that Pascal and Hali aren’t exactly the greatest fit either. I personally think we dodged a bullet there, though i like Siakam.
