Makes us look awfully thin at the guard positions. Not our only problem I know, but there it is.
Obviously we don't know. If the team was involved in the decision, and this is just a leak, I have no problem with it.
But I'm concerned about the wording: "Were bout to shut @thetyrekeevans down! It's 4 ya own good!"
"WE" are about to shut Tyreke Evans down?
Followed by: "Just got done having a talk wit my brother @thetyrekeevans. It's done! He's out for a while."
The implication is that Team Tyreke made the decision, and called down the order to Tyreke. Now that may not be what Doc Evans wanted to convey, but it seems to be the easiest reading. Anyway, the main concern on my end isn't that the news came from Team Tyreke, it's that the decision may have come from Team Tyreke without the consent of the team and team doctors. I don't know that. I'm just concerned that that may be what happened.
according to Jason Jones blog they dont.

The Kings say they don't know what the case is because Tyreke hasn't told them he's not going.
Here's what Kings president Geoff Petrie said:
"Whatever needs to be done needs to be done in the best fashion possible. We'll see what (Monday) morning brings. It really comes down to if the player says he can't go."
Well, that's kind of what I was afraid of.

People aren't making anywhere near a big enough deal of this now. When relatives of players announce player status (on Twitter, no less) and the GM really has no idea, that is the sign of a full-on crisis. The player and the GM are no longer talking to each other.
I don't get some of the comments on this board. Does anyone really think that the first person that Tyreke is going to discuss the matter with is Petrie? Of course he's going to discuss it with his family and friends before he discusses it with his employer. If you have an injury that is going to prevent you from doing your job, are you going to talk to your employer first, or your wife and family first? Of course, the former. And then when you're straight about whether you really want to take a break, then you discuss it with your employer.

This really.
People are again getting nutty. Tyreke's brother spoke out of turn. So what. Plantar fasciatis is a pain injury. The trainers might say no you can't go with something like a partially torn knee ligament because you might tear it the rest of the way. But with plantar fasciatis its up to the player, what can he endure. If the same thing had been announced today rather than leaked by his brother nobody would have said a peep. And you know what? 10 years ago it would have been. Heck even 5 years ago it would have been. Its the rise of the social media age, accompanied by everyone wanting to update you every time they pick their nose or fart, that is to explain for this "crisis". Guy talked it over with his family, decided to shut it down. Not such a crisis. We as fans just get inserted earlier in the decisionmaking timeline than we once would have. Today Tyreke will go in, tell the coach and GM that he can't go, they'll makie the official announcement, and everything will proceed as it always has. The only difference is Tyreke's family members having an instant gratification media outlet in Twitter to leak the news first.
I have to disagree. A player is planning to sit out games, meanwhile his employers are completely in the dark about it. Seems unacceptable to me. We're not talking about a cashier planning to take the weekend off because they have a cold without telling their employer. There's lots of money at stake here as well as the team's ever plummeting reputation. The guy is paid millions to do one thing, play basketball. Given that, I think it's reasonable to expect that if he's planning to take time off (paid time off, BTW) from playing basketball that the least you could expect is that he would the people playing him millions know ASAP.

I can think of only one thing the Kings could do to hurt ticket sales more than this: Announcing this is their last season here.
The lack of comments on this on sacbee can only indicate one of two things: Either people don't care, or sacbee's commenting system is broken. At this point, I'm tending to think it's the latter.
I have no reason to attend another Kings game this year. Was thinking about it, but not any more. They can keep their worthless scrap of paper.
There is now only one reason left to go to a Kings game, and that is to root for the opponent. Why bother?
Pretty much right when he made the decision, or was considering it serioulsy. That would be the time to let them know that you're thinking about taking some time off to rest/heal, not the day after they already find out about via your brother's twitter announcement. What is ASAP for you?
Tyreke isn't taking vacation days here. He's resting an injury.
And the team already KNOWS that he was likely going to need to rest that injury.
They obviously didn’t know that. If they had, they would have made the call to rest him by now.
I’m not trying to make this out to be the end of the world or anything, but I do think it’s a little concerning when you have a player who’s considering sitting out multiple games and his coach and GM are clueless about it.

People are again getting nutty. Tyreke's brother spoke out of turn. So what.
Do you seriously think this hasn't been discussed, ad nauseum, in and around the Kings for weeks?
The real reason is he's scared Kevin Martin is going to put up 40+ on him.
I wish we still had Kmart. Landry has turned out to be nearly useless when he isn't scoring, and he isn't scoring very often these days. I used to think Martin was a ballhog but Landry is more of a ballhog than Martin ever was. To watch Landry play you'd think that every assist he makes takes a week off his life.
In what I truly believe to be my least nutty frame of mind, it's not about Tyreke's brother speaking out of turn. It's about whether Tyreke's brother is unilaterally making decisions for Tyreke on team-related issues.
Here is my ideal flow chart of how this sort of thing should ideally go down, with the ultimate decision being made at the top:
--- Tyreke + Coaching Staff + Medical Staff + Front Office ---
^ |
| |
| V
--- Tyreke + Team Tyreke + Other Personal Counselors ---
Here's the (perhaps inaccurate) impression of how it seems to have gone down from Twitter accounts:
--- Team Tyreke ---
|
|
V
--- Tyreke ---
|
|
V
--- Kings Management ---
That's what I'm worried about, not whether Doc spoke out of turn.
No, Kevin had quit, COULD NOT WORK (see my 1000 posts on the history of 20pt/20pt backcourts in the NBA, let alone if the guy without the ball is in fact worthless when not shoting) anyway, was throwing a pile of bad cess over a young team a mile wide, and was chewing through his trade value at record pace. If anything we traded him 3 months, or maybe even 6 months, too late, not too early.Yes and its because Landry is used to being the 6th man who comes in and all he is asked to do is score. Also its his contract year so it has to be in his head to put up numbers.
The thing with Martin is that on hindsight the management should've gave it the rest of the season to see if they can gel.
