Tropical Island Video Game Draft -- Pending playoffs

Fascinating; now well in to the seventh round, and my personal count hasn't changed. You guys and I really don't like the same kinds of games...

Ok. GoGoGadget is officially inserted in place of kingsfan916. Technically, you may make a pick right now since he timed out on his last turn. I don't know if you want to do that now, or just pick 2 in a row when your turn is up. Your decision

I'm certainly not going to be the dope to turn down an opportunity to make a pick. ;)

My 6th round (?) pick coming up, then.

tell you what Slim -- I tentatively have an idea for my next pick (or one of the next two) that if its NOT on your personal count, it should be. We'll see which. :p

Since I missed out on the gaming world's introduction to Kratos, I think it would be wise to start out by securing the sequel. My 6th (1st) pick:

God of War II -- PS2 (2007) -- There's nothing about this game that isn't good, as far as I'm concerned. And, by "good" I mean geek-tastically awesome. Story? One of the few where the movie rumors have made sense. Voice acting? Remarkably good. Graphics? Gorgeous. Gameplay? Fun, fun, fun. There are a lot of games that allow you to kill things, but few are quite as visceral as this -- rip the wings off harpies, mount a cyclops and rip out its eye, fight a friggin' kraken, all with a perfectly timed grunt and a jolt from the controller's rumble pack. Perfect for a lonely tropical island, too, as I know from experience that I could play this game all day long and not get bored.

Who this time?

May I suggest a little threat may be in order? A wise moderator once said "walk softly and carry a big stick...and then use it liberally to beat the living tar out of people." :p

Next timeout should get:

Edit: oh crap, just realized that the time out person is another mod! No problem -- all the more reason to make a bloody example out of him! Nobody is above the law! I'll back you. Really. :D

Nope. venom_7. You're probably thinking Warhawk because GGG was the last to pick, but that was a make-up pick after kingsfan916 timed out

Now that venom_7 has timed out, it's back to me. Time for a recent pick, which can (and probably will) be placed as a classic someday.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots (2008) - Playstation 3

Review

One of the best games available for the PS3 right now, if not the best. The last installment in the MGS series. This game has a ton of weapons and items that you can pick up. Snake has an Ipod which he can listen to, he can haul out a cigarette and light one up, and there are even Playboys to be found throughout some levels that Snake throws on the ground to distract enemies.

I thought that may be the case. I hadn't been up for a draft in about a week and got on late tonight and saw 2 messages for two other drafts....I was guessing I was up here too but saw I had 100% full.

My pick will be up probably by late tonight.

I sent Venom a PM but it was last night about 2am or so. I thought I had sent it earlier in the day but when I checked I didn't so I sent it late.

well it looks liek its time to take a very grat =game one that is illsurpassed by every other mario game. People like to say the originals are better just because they are originals but deny the fact that this ist he true, most innovative, most original, and most astounding platformer ever made

Super Mario Galaxy (2007) - Wii

The best platformer I've ever played.

edit: er...Hurrah! I have achieved a post value that exceeds one thousand!

I still tilt my head trying to make sense of which way is up, when playing this. Manipulating the pull of gravity to wrap around jump around orb like was fun. This is what I was talking about:

For my pick, I select
The Sims: Complete Collection for PC (includes the original Sims + all 7 of The Sims 1 expansions: Livin' Large, Hot Date, Vacation, Makin' Magic, Superstar, Unleashed, and House Party.)

I have always enjoyed the Sims as a one-player game... multiplayer really began to give me the creeps... but in it's pure, single player form, the Sims was a highly addictive and fun simulation game. I just remember if certain Sims bothered me, I would create a room with no doors and wall to wall pool... then let them swim until... well, anyway... brilliant game and I am surprised I was able to pick it up this late in the draft.

The Sims: Complete Collection

I left this one off my list because, despite an early addiction to this game, I haven't been even remotely tempted to play it in about four years, which I figure is an indication of how entertaining it would actually be on that lonely island.

Indeed a fun killing method, but the very best way to antagonize a pesky Sim was to kill off their family members, put the urns in their bedroom, and slowly drive them insane with nightly hauntings. Good times.

Probably the most original like you said, but I have to disagree that it's the best one. Of course this is only my opinion, but I think it's probably #4 in the Mario series (if you don't count SMRPG) after SM64, SMB3, and SMW.

Not a fan of simulation games, but this definitely seems like the way to go with a simulation pick

I am glad to see I am not the only sadistic Sims killer out there... some of the characters just bug the heck out of me and THEY MUST PAY!

Is it my turn yet? :o

This seems to be taking forever for those of us at the ends of the list.... My last pick was a week ago and we still have 7 people to choose before it comes back my way. Ugh. Come on, folks, make a selection and remember the PM's!
