Doom (1993)

Another one of my all time favourite FPS. I loved the chainsaw.
Good pick. ARGH. I knew it wouldn't last another round.
<crosses Doom off the list>

Meanwhile you dunderheads are picking archaic arcade games nobody's played in 20 years and Zelda Pt. 15 -- Zelda's Great Aunt Henrietta vs. the Snake Monsters.![]()
Okay...so at this point does Aleksander just win the draft for what I thought was a completely obvious Doom pick?

I think you mean Mario part 1000. As far as the old games go, the gameplay of certain older games like Tetris will never be surpassed and no one seems to even try; studios shoot for graphically intensive games, not games with awesome gameplay.
I am pretty sure there was a Mario Vs. Zelda game and it has already been selected.Well, note Tetris does not fit under my comment, as its obviously still played today, and probably still will be 100 years from now. And sorry, I got confused about the Zelda/Mario thing, althoguh if there was ever a Zelda vs. Mario NES game made, somebody tell me now so I can snap it up and join the party.![]()

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - 2003 - PC
Dipping into the Aurora toolset well again.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic - 2003 - PC
Wing Commander + The Secret Missions expansion Packs (1990) - PC
One of the best Space simulation game I have ever played. It was a big hit during its prime and has spawned many parts and a movie(Freddie Prinze Jr.). And it has cost me a bunch of keyboards too.![]()
Sorry for the time out...2 weddings in 2 days and the internet at the hotel I'm staying at lost connection for a day and a half. Anyway...Pick #6, and I'm sticking with my PC roots. My 2nd favorite game to play to Diablo II is this quirky, yet addicting turn based strategy game. The sequels have better animation, but no map editer or side quests so I'll stick with the version guaranteed to bring a smile to m face every time.
Pick #6 is
Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete Edition (PC) 2000
Includes: Heroes Chronicles, Restoration of Erathia, The Shadow of Death, and Armageddon's Blade

Great game design, and the map editer makes this game infinitely playable. Goals are variable to collect certain items, conquer your enemies, defeat specific monsters, etc. You have heroes who gather armies and recruits from towns. You build dwellings to recruit specific mercenary races to aid you, and you collect artifacts and resources to help your cause.

And the most infamously ridiculed video game quote of all time (at least on the internet):
"Do a barrel roll!"
Ahh I think I'll go with Mario Kart 64 - 1996 N64

Seemed like everyone I knew had this game and played it non stop back in the day

My next pick would probably have survived a few more rounds (or even the whole draft; not sure if anyone has played it) but I don't wanna take a chance. This is my favorite PC game I have ever played

Thief II: The Metal Age + Expansion (2000) - PC
The Thief series has a genre of its own...First Person Sneaker. You are a thief named Garrett, and your objectives are to break into some high security buildings (and similar things for the most part), hide in the shadows, and complete different objectives ranging from stealing priceless artifacts to eavesdropping on others, all the while stealing loot for some pocket money. Guards can kill you just as easily as you can kill them, so combat should be avoided. You are equipped with a sword, a blackjack, and a broad range of arrows (water arrows for dousing torches, moss arrows to make a carpet on loud surfaces, etc.)
The videos before each mission are great, and I really like the voiceover. I highly recommend playing it if you haven't. Playing the first one isn't necessary, but it would help a bit with the story I guess. A demo can be found here:

I have played this game but was never really hooked on it, but thought that the game was really cool, i just didn't have patience to go sneaking around. My brother loved it since he was a big fan of another game similar to this. That game was developed by the same studio who made the original Thief.
