Tropical Island Video Game Draft -- Pending playoffs

Win and become W.V.B.A. Champ
I find it absolutely hillarious that a fictitious boxing organization, vaguely referenced in the game is one of three highlights worthy of pointing out on the box art.

I'll say it again. Medal of Honor Heroes 2 and Metroid Prime 3 worked perfectly with the Wii remote and nunchuck. All new FPS's on the Wii are going to follow these formulas, like The Conduit.

I felt as comfortable with the accuracy and control like it was the mouse and keyboard (after placing the setting to advance and sensitivity to high). The nunchuck's analog stick provided more control than the keyboard could. The accuracy was not a problem (just don't play Red Steel, Ubisoft made the IR sensor too wavy and had no idea what they were doing). I guess my preference is like Warhawk though, I refuse to play FPS on with a standard control pad, probably why I don't have any on my PS3.

Agreed, the Wii's control for FPS rivals that of mouse+keyboard. I thought the scheme in MP3 was brilliant.

BLAST!

Chronno Trigger was the next pick on my list!

Not quite up to par with Secret of Mana/FF6 but still one of the greats.

Im thinking Im gonna need my whole 24 hours to pick now.

:/

You know, I had Chrono Trigger slotted for a little later, but looked at bdouble's and your list and thought there was no way it would survive past a four pick gauntlet of you two.

My strategic instincts are on fire. I may have to PM my next few picks and head to Vegas. ;)

Oy...I really don't want to make this pick, am not sure of this pick, dont really like this pick....

......But Im going to go with the grandfather of video games.

Pong --- Arcade --- 1972

Really what more needs to be said...It's the game that started it all, and began the video game boom.

Just the classic of all classics in the video game world...And I guess Im actually glad to have it in my corner.

Just remember...The 'IN ITS PRIME' rule!

The grandfather of the FPS genre.

Wolfenstein 3-D

I spent hours and hours playing this game when I was young.

Oh, you are KILLING me. I was hoping to get this one later.

How can you not go wrong with pixellated Nazis???? :D

OK, my turn again.

First selection - one of the few games I still can't stop playing. Infinitely replayable, and the first fully 3-D RTS in the C&C universe:

Command & Conquer: Generals (and the Zero Hour expansion Pack) - PC

The addition of the Generals Challenges with the Zero Hour expansion make this even more fun.

I've played most of the C&C games over the years, and this is the one that I just can't get away from. Highly rated, Nice visuals, and fun to play. Lots of maps to choose from and select the number and difficulty of computer opponents to get the game going.

My second choice is the FPS that I also keep dipping into when I want to frag someone.

Unreal Tournament 2004 Editor's Choice Edition - PC - with all the subsequently released free bonus map packs included

I loved UT and played the heck out of it. When UT2004 was released, I thought it was a little "off" at first, but additional playing revealed how much fun it was. The addition of vehicles and the veritable cornucopia of gameplay modes make this a no-brainer for this competition. Widely regarded as one of the best FPS multiplayer games ever. Nice thing about the multiplayer here is the great challenges posed by the bots and scalable skill levels to make the games competitive no matter what your skill level is.

Gameplay modes consist of:

Assault
Onslaught
DM
Team DM
Capture the Flag
Double Domination
Bombing Run
Mutant
Last Man Standing
Invasion

You just can't get bored of this game. Single player, multiplayer, team play - all in wonderful fast-paced FPS goodness here (with bots filling in if no humans available, and they listen to commands), and graphically the game was awesome at the release. In fact, that was one of the major complaints about this game - there are TOO MANY ways to play!

Man... I can't believe that ninety-one games have been taken, and so far, only four games I'd have had on my draft board + three other games that I would have even considered... And all four of the games that I would have had on my draft board went in the first round.

I suspect, without knowing, that at least in certain constituencies I may have several of yours lurking further out on my list.

Only one of the games I would have taken has been picked.

I'm pissed at myself for sitting this one out, frankly. I skipped it because the list I put together didn't leave me much wiggle room in case a bunch of mine had been taken. But considering that the one game on my list (would have been my #1) was taken in the 2nd or 3rd round, and that the rest of the games taken are SO far away from anything I would have picked, I may have even gotten all of my top 20.

You guys have some funny taste in games. My list has been getting ravaged, and 90% of every game picked so far is an all-time classic.

 Another one off my list. Great pick. I can't wait for the new Wolfenstein that they're cooking up. I saw some trailers and the game looks great.

using your movie draft as a template, would your video game list look something like this?

1) double dragon
2) ninja gaiden
3) karate champ
4) karateka
etc.

:p

I saw the trailer for it yesterday, and yeah it looks good

This draft is certainly moving slow..

Well, I got both my picks in within about 0.5 hour of the last posted pick prior to mine, and I wasn't PM'd. I did PM back for the next one right after my second pick....the later edit was a spelling edit.

Yeah that's cool, I was just comparing this to the IPod draft, which is 3 rounds ahead and started at the same time

Less than 2 hours until kingsfan916 times out...

If he does in fact time out, I will PM the next person to get this thing rolling again

Well...After much thought and deliberation I have decided to add some versatility to my list...The only racing game I ever spent any amount of time on...

Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec --- PS2 --- 2001

As I said, this is the only racing game to ever keep my attention for any amount of time. That alone is something to be said...However! This game has been heralded as one of the best racers of all time, and has received fantastic scores from practically all review sites! ... I still remember my very first car (Black Chrysler PT Cruiser) and how it earned me a beautiful unbelievably fast Indy Car by winning a key race! Which in turn led to other riches in the car world! Good times!

...And, again, as I said earlier...Versatility is a good thing when stranded on a desert island for the rest of your life!

Back into a corner and double barrel right to the face of the pink killer pig guys. Again and again. :D

Not sure why, but there was just something extremely satisfying about the gameplay of that one that makes it more fun than many of the far more graphically advanaced shooter sthat have followed. A shooter is a shooter -- they are like RTS's -- but I think there was a certain over the top big grin freedom to the slaughter in that game. No sneaking, no handful of super-tough opponents, just wave after wave of chaotic slaughter. What could be more fun? :p

For my next pick I select,

Lufa II - Rise of the Sinistrals [SNES]
Lufia_2_Boxart.jpg

Yet another RPG. Good story and some stupid hard bosses along the way. Complete with the requisite time wasting side quests.
