This game doesn't work unless I can train the monkeys to play with me, but....

I can't count the number of hours I wasted in high school with friends playing this game. FPS Classic here.

Great pick! I never did get past the first mission with that multi-player.

I still have nightmares of well placed proximity mines in ever hallway I walk down!

:D

Great pick. I was debating between this and a few others for my next pick

We had Goldeneye tournaments in our dorm room in college. The Assistant Rector would "let himself in" our room to practice.

And this is where my out of touchness with the market becomes evident -- I did not even remember there was a game based on Goldeneye. If you had spotted me "this popular first person shooter for the Nintendo gaming platform was based on a Pierce Brosnan James Bond movie", there is a good chance I still would not have omce up with it.

Can we just hurry this up and get back to my pick please? I want to make my next picks and then sink back into irrelevancy.

Yeah this draft is moving really slow

Brick, I'm just not sure we can be friends anymore. I'm sorry. ;)

I was very much not a Nintendo girl growing up (I liked NES, but had Sega Genesis at my dad's house, so that's what I played), but I remember the Goldeneye game just because one of the multiplayer options was a slapping mode, which tickled me to no end. And also because the playable Grace Jones was delightfully creepy looking.

Gotta grab a Zelda game while I still can.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - 2006 - Wii

Losing Ocarina of Time still stings, but this is a comforting silver medal. Solid game play, storyline and puzzles as typical with Zelda. Cool twist of playing as Link and Wolf-link throughout, and creative addition of Midna.

A lot of the standard components of the Zelda universe are involved, althought the boss battles were slightly disappointing.

Still, even when I beat the game for the 10th time on the island, I can always take Link to the fishing pond for a few hours.

Think Bdoub got the silver medal in Zelda games with A Link to the Past, but this is a nice 40+ hour bronze medal. I think this game would have been available next round. Still a nice pick.

Bdoub I'm liking your first two picks (probably because we are from the same gaming generation).

Honestly, Link to the Past WAS my second pick ... but I can't go around chanting "YIPPIE, I got my third choice" now can I? :)

And after seeing Link to the Past snagged, I couldn't afford to gamble that a top shelf Zelda game would be available 20 picks from now.

Lousy Draft Randomizer.

EDIT: You know what though, I still ended up with a d*mn fine game. I think I can live with reaching a round for Twilight Princess.

Great picks for the first round. I was having a hard time taking this game for my second pick. I'm thinking that it is not really well known as some of the other games on my list, but still would not take the chance of letting it be taken away from me. So here it is, for my second pick......

Shenmue2.jpg

Shenmue II(2001) Sega Dreamcast

A great game, IMO. the graphics are very good, gameplay mode is like playing a cutscene. Great story(although it is not finished), great actors. I had a difficult time choosing between COD 4 and this game for my first pick but chose COD 4 because I think it was more popular than this game. It's a shame that Shenmue 3 has been shelved as already this game has started attracting followers after the XBOX realease. I still remember there was an online petition for Shenmue 3 to be developed(i know coz I signed up;)) but nothing came off it.

So, this draft is really going slow. It has been forever, and now I finally have a second pick. I better snag a Zelda before they're all taken. This was my third Zelda choice, but at the rate they're going, I'm lucky to snag this one. With my second choice I pick...

Legend of Zelda – Majora’s Mask

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (Nintendo 64)(2000).

Gotta love the ticking clock to the end of the world following you around as you race from place to place. And turning into a Deku, Goron, and Zora was very awesome too. The world map was expanded and included environments that wouldn't be around Hyrule (oceans, snowy mountains, haunted desert wastes...). This game is very replayable, and I would love to take it with me to my dark cave.

"Majora's Mask was generally well received by critics, who praised the improved graphics and deeper story compared to Ocarina of Time."

A DREAMCAST PICK!!! You are my hero! I LOVE the Dreamcast...

I can think of no game I have played more... so it MUST be on my list... are there more complex clones? Sure. Are any of them any better? NO! I have played many, many of the clones, and this one is still best... I even have the cheat codes memorized. I have spent days creating complex scenarios that are fun and challenging for me to beat... there really is no better RTS game I can think of... my selection is 1999's Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings (+ expansion) for the PC.

Play it, live it, war, peace, it is all there...

The Dreamcast was amazing. While I know that there were actually crappy games for it, it sure seemed like the ratio of good to bad was better than any other system I've ever owned and developers really took risks. I guess that's not surprising since EA refused to support it, I've never quite forgiven them for that.

Crap.

My list is too damn short to have people stealing from it.

Honestly, even the current systems do not have pixel-perfect arcade ports like the DC... and the fishing with the fishing rod controller on the DC is awesome. I put the DC on my big TV and have Fishing competitions at every party I throw! SO much fun...

I love the Dreamcast. It's kinda sad they discontinued making games for that console. The graphics was ahead of the other consoles at the time and I really love the controller, beats the hell out of PS, IMO. A lot of great games, and I still have a couple more on my list.

The Dreamcast had two things going against it from the start: Sega's horrible support of the Genesis CD-Rom, 32X and Saturn (which was actually a decent console, especially if you imported) and the PS2 hype machine. Throw in whatever stick EA had up their butts and it was doomed.

The controller was great, and I loved the VMU - it was great to be able to pick plays in sports games on the controller, or to get extra stats, etc. I wish current gen controllers offered this, even though the dominance of online negates the need for some of that functionality.

Zelda is a funny series. It has a clear cut #1 that about 90% of the gaming world agrees is not one of the best game ever, but literally the best.

The #2 however, is where the arguments begin. No one can really agree what exactly comes in after Ocarina. They are all so damn close. I believe my next pick to be the true #2, but I can see the arguments for LttP and Twilight Princess. In fact, is are about 1 left even after I draft this one that easily could be called the #2. The Zelda series is by far the deepest, and IMO best, gaming series ever.

Since Jespher ruthlessly (and quite sneakily) stole my pick here, I'll take my 3rd Zelda choice. Another underrated one.

The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (2003) - GameCube

Not my favorite Zelda, or my 2nd favorite, but still a great game. Another very unique Zelda in that it was cel-shaded. I quite liked the style. Many people loathed it and skipped over the game just because of it. Which is sad really because this is definitely the Zelda with the largest explorable world and the most interesting level designs. There are some very cool twists along the way culminating in another classic battle with Ganon in probably the craziest setting ever. Also one of the best final scenes in a Zelda game is featured in this one.

I feel disappointing in not getting Majora's Mask, but this is a great game all its own.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
(2000) - Nintendo 64

This game is soooooo underrated. It was doomed to be considered a let-down just because of the game it had to follow. However, looking back this game has several things here in there that I believe make it a more fun and definitely more replayable game than Ocarina of Time. Better? No. But damn close.

Its Back to the Future meets Zelda. What could be a better combination? With a very mysterious and dark, for Zelda, storyline. Alternate parallel universes. A bigger world. More items. And oh, the ever-present "this is how much time is left until the entire world is destroyed" clock at the bottom of your screen at all times.

I loved that you were always racing in this game. That things happened only on certain days at certain times. Oh, and who can forget the rediculously deep side quests in this game? Did anyone ever spy on the photographer dude and his secret girlfriend? I remember that being one of the hardest side quests to figure out.

I feel like I want to write about all the hidden mythology and the real story this game was trying to tell, but someone has already done that for me. If you got some time, this is a really interesting read. Check it out.

You might wanna check the draft board again...that game is taken

great....my fault for not checking the draft board but as a word of advice to Jespher since you're new to these things, if you aren't going to bold your pick and you aren't going to write a single word really about the game....at least put in a picture representing your pick. It makes it easier for people to see.

All I can say is, this sucks.

Yes, blame the victim.
(or at least the person not at fault)

Definitely the part where I said "my fault for not checking the draft board" and then the part where i said "a word of advice" surely means I'm pointing all the blame at Jespher. Good read there.

edit: actually, let's not argue. If you felt I've said something wrong, just PM me. Again I'm sorry for the re-pick.

Must have been a good pick, if I already have people vying for it...Don't blame me man, I've been at work all day, and can't attach images...I will bold the pick thou...

PS, Aren't we all new to these things? Slim just brought up the idea this summer. Are you a hardened veteran of the video game drafting world? I can see you were upset that I took your pick, but don't go calling me an amateur. That's just mean.
