Oops...ok, guess that is not going to work. :p

Never tried to change a poll and basically runa nnew poll on the same thread before, but apparently the software isn't fooled by me jsut deleting the former votes and still knows who has voted and who has not. So I'll just send around a PM to everybody and you can all respond to me that way.

Justin Long was a close call. He was my alternate to this guy:

Jonah Hill

PS, what's on the go with the PM's lately? I've gotten them all (3) today when I logged on, but I'm not getting them sent to my email. A couple weeks ago it was the opposite.

Wasn't expecting him to be here at this stage, so I have to take him. The role might be a little small for him, but he will do a great job. Again, this is a historical epic (although the main theme is fictional), so I want it to come across real. The acting has to be powerful and emotional.

With my next pick, I'm taking:

Al Pacino

Capt. Factorial

I'm not particularly worried about my director going away, but he's the guy I had in mind to make my film the entire way and it's probably time to pick him up. The majority of his output is relatively unknown -- he had 30 directing credits in his first 20 years and I've seen a grand total of one, because I sought it out. However, he was living under the grips of the Iron Curtain at the time, so this is understandable. As the Cold War started to thaw, things became more accessible (not only in the sense of distribution, but also in the sense of funding).

After his Decalogue of 1989-90, a series of ten one-hour films made for Polish television, each a character study based loosely on one of the Ten Commandments, he went on to his first commercial success with The Double Life Of Veronique. The proceeds from that allowed him to make his masterpiece Trois Coleurs trilogy: Blue, White and Red. If you've seen these films, you probably understand why I've chosen him to film my drama. He had a knack for the script, an eye for the scene, and an ear for the soundtrack all at the same time, and he made incredibly powerful human dramas without being sappy or sentimental. Sadly, he died young in 1996 during an open-heart surgery, but this draft allows me to bring him back for one last film. My director: Krzysztof Kieslowski. (KSHISH-toff kesh-LOV-ski)

Are any of these guiys your lead? Or are you just stacking up Oscar winnign supporting staff?

The Nation proudly presents..

Steve Martin

A very diverse actor, but a master of comedy. A combo of Perry and Martin will be very comedic, and very classic. I have a very specific role in mind for Martin, but will not reveal it just yet.

Most Notable
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Pennies from Heaven
All of Me
¡Three Amigos!
Roxanne
Planes, Trains & Automobiles
Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
Parenthood
Father of the Bride
Father of the Bride II
Cheaper by the Dozen
Cheaper by the Dozen 2
The Pink Panther
The Pink Panther 2
Baby Mama
Traitor (Writer and Producer)

Unfortunately the last time he pulled so much as a smile from me was 1987 with Roxanne -- you were safe from me at least. But maybe he's just had crap tastes in roles...until your masterpiece of course. ;)

Thanks. :p

Yeah, I've never been too much a fan of his movies, more a fan of his comedic style more than anything else. I did like the "Father of the Brides," though.

Besides that, he was one of the ONLY men I could get for the role I have in mind for him though.

Well, my leading lady needs some more family -- as it stands right now Drew's only relative is her creepy uncle Hannibal. So I'm going to give her a dad as well:

Alec Baldwin

And as the chosen picture might indicate, not the young sleek sexy creepy version, but rather the funny older insensitive and inappropriate comic character actor Baldwin of 30 Rock, Outside Providence, Along Came Polly, etc. I need someone to tell it like it is without any shred of decency or concern for the other person's feelings and not even know or care that he is offending them.

The voting results on extending the draft were:

Bozzwell: 2
Lowenherz: 2 to 4 w/more specialists
Dime Dropper: 2 w/a specialist
venom_7: 4
Monty'sbiggestfan: 2
NME: 4
kingsnation: 0
VF21: 4
GGG: 4
Capt. Factorial: 0
SacKings7: 0
Jespher: 0 to 2

So a wide dispersal:

4 more rounds: 5 (counting me)
2 to 4 more rounds: 1
2 more rounds: 3
0 to 2 more rounds: 1
0 rounds: 3

Averages out to about + 2.5. :p

Here is my thought: seems to be pretty wide support for at least a couple more rounds. Also seems to be several people with extra specialists in mind. So how about either:

a) 2 more rounds, while upping the specialist limit to 2 (from 1) so that people who voted 0 and who don't need any more actors can just add writers or music or whatever; or
b) 4 more rounds, while upping the specialist limit to 3, so people with a full cast in mind get to take it, while those who don't need them can really fill out there support staff.

Hmm...VF21 was here and then ran off and stranded poor NME rather than posting her pick. I should ban her, but you have to be careful when doing that to a fellow mod in case they gfet reinstated and return the favor. :p

In retrospect, I wouldn't be opposed to this.

Could we use both specialists for music? And could they be used for specific songs and/or artists?

...and I'm back! For now. Nice pick 6th - you speak my mind. I'm sorry for not being on more; I didn't think the draft would move this quickly. I'm actually no longer in Patagonia, but I am about 2 days away from regular internet access. Although a Muppet is being considered, there are others who take precedent.

I'm guessing Gonzo :)

Sammy Squirrel, smiling as always, approaches the microphones of the assembled paparazzi, gestures for some restraint to the wild cheering and multitude of questions being hurled in his direction.

He pauses for dramatic effect and then, when the crowd has hushed, begins to speak:

"Forest Dweller Productions has already assembled a pretty impressive cast for their upcoming blockbuster. Although we have not started filming quite yet, we've been very excited about this whole project.

"Today, we received word that negotiations have been completed and another of our key character roles has been filled.

"Ladies and gentlemen, we are proud to announce the latest addition to our cast...`Danny DeVito."

DeVito springs into view, with a lady of the evening on each arm and a very tall drink in his hand, and grins broadly.

DeVito approaches the microphones, stumbles over his own foot, and nearly falls flat on his face. The ladies break his fall and Sammy quickly ushers him back into the waiting limousine.

"Hey, look!" Sammy yells. "It's Jon minus Kate plus 8!" He points, the ever-fickle paparazzi scurry for the TLC cash cows, and the limousine pulls away...

What? You're doing a western and you pick a former Carmel mayor? What's the matter with you? Clint Eastwood and westerns... pssssh.

MBF Studios signs...

Vivian Leigh - Supporting Actress

This phase of Ms. Leigh's career make her mooooooore than ideal for the part Mr. Ritchie envisioned her to play.
