Goof Vibrations - Beach Boys - Good Vibrations

OK, that was easy for me as I picked Pet Sounds in album draft and Good Vibrations was not on it. From this point on, I have no idea where this draft will take me. No idea whatsoever. I must be the only person with an iPOD who doesn't listen to playlists, but whole albums at the time. I blame it on my OCD, but it could be that I am just retarded.

Did a little more work on my list this morning, and have to say I think I've changed my mind -- 25 is barely enough to even bring along a sample, but I think this music draft plays to my strengths more than the other did and even after people inevitably steal a lot of good stuff, I should be able to field a strong list.

So, going to start it off with a classic (as did Bozz):

[yt=The Beatles -- Let It Be]vwZJl7-0mWg[/yt]

Let it Be -- The Beatles -- Let It Be

One of the greatest songs by perhaps the greatest band, Let It Be is an absolute classic, and one of the most beautiful songs ever written IMO.

If anybody wants to know how to do the youtube trick, look at about the 6th or 7th post of this thread http://www.kingsfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25238

where I try to explain it.

I think it would be nifty to have youtube (or other legal streams) of all, or at least most, of the songs in this thread so anybody could listen to the selections. And youtube is so pervasive at this point, that almost any major song will have one or more vidoes over there set to it. If you can't figure out how to create the youtube window the way I just did, just leave it as a link and I can come along and turn it into a window for you (its really simple once you know how), and then you can edit your post and see the code I used and just copy it for your next song.

at least your music is on your ipod. i have a shuffle and have yet to load anything to it.

I only have one definite song in mind for this draft, the others may just be picked depending on what's playing on my yahoo launchcast at the time in order to get a better variety then i chose in the album draft.

For a singles draft, I will start with the ultimate party anthem:

[yt=Flashlight]uAlMi_3ls5s[/yt]

Parliament - Flashlight - 1977

I'm actually picking the extended version, but I was too pressed to time to see whether I could find a copy of that online.

And if they are not available in totality, maybe at least link to the album in Amazon.com or something where 30-second snippets or the like might be avaialble.

Strawberry Fields Forever - Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour

Strawberry Fields Forever" is a song recorded at the end of 1966 by The Beatles, and released at the beginning of 1967. Written by John Lennon, multiple critics have described it as one of the group's best recordings. It is one of the defining works of the psychedelic rock genre and has been covered numerous times.
The song gave its name to the Strawberry Fields memorial in New York City's Central Park, near the site of Lennon's murder at The Dakota apartment building.

I'm not sure where this song stands with everyone else, and it probably isn't even on your lists, but its my favorite song by my favorite band, so I'm taking it here.

It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'N' Roll) - AC/DC - T.N.T.

Classic Bon Scott. Not many people can make bagpipes sound so effective in a rock song as he did in this song. I'm not sure how to insert the video, so I'll just link the page.

Go into the edit of your post and take a look at the code I used and compare it to the youtube original you posted -- it really is pretty straight forward after you see how it works.

My first pick is

Blue Monday - New Order - original 12 inch version

This is the highest selling 12 inch of all time and spent months at # 1 on various different charts in America and the UK. I am grabbing it now because I know it is on bozzwell's list.

I cannot access youtube at work, I'll post a link later.
Well played. ;)

I've never once made a playlist on my iPod. I listen to full albums when I'm in the mood, but usually just put the whole damn thing on shuffle.

The randomness of shuffling would probably cause me to have a seizure. Before I had an iPOD, I had a 6-disc CD changer in my car. Even with that I decided that 6 albums is just too few, so burned 6 discs worth of my "history of Bozzwell's favorite music", starting in 60's then 70's, 80 and 90's with some 00's. I painstakingly "invented" alternative history and genesis of punk/post-punk/alternative from 60-music via glam-rock and so on. Somewhere along the way I placed Buzzcocks and Pistols in the wrong order and only realized when it was too late - I nearly drove off the road. Now, that's nothing to do with music, that's just something in my head not being able to accept things out of order even just a chronology of songs.

I love shuffle. From Marilyn Manson, to Nat King Cole, to The Mills Brothers, to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, to L7... It's delightfully schizophrenic.

As someone with a heap of my own adorable OCD quirks and tendencies, however, I admire your dedication.

I had a Rio Karma instead of an IPod, it had all kinds of advanced shuffling options and I thought it was amazing. Always generated these fantastic playlists, then some a-holes broke into my house and stole it and Rio had to go out of business. Still waiting for their technology to make it into a top of the line digital music player 5 years after its release.

Love shuffling my entire collection. I never get bored because it always changes...love the variety I get.

I just have to skip through all of the toddler music...

One of the greatest songs of all time, off of the best selling album of all time, by one of the greatest musicians of all time, no matter how creepy he may be.

For my first pick I choose....Thriller - Michael Jackson - Thriller

Everyone loves this song and its one of my personal favorites, even thoe im not the biggest "pop" enthusiast. Michael Jackson is the man (or the boy).

Nice pick Faithful. But the gravity of losing Good Vibrations is starting to catch up with me. Such a perfect island song........gah i hate you bozzwell.

By "these type" I meant classic songs and move away because I want the ones I've picked! :D I wasn't being sinister.

But, do they listen? No. lol And guess what VF, my top two picks are gone. Good Vibrations and Strawberry Fields Forever. I guess other people on this board share my bad musical taste.
you weren't getting Strawberry Fields with my pick before yours. :p It is my all time favorite Beatles song.

Living is easy with eyes closed
Misunderstanding all you see
Its getting hard to be someone, but it all works out
It doesnt matter much to me

It is just flat out one of the best recorded pieces of music in history. At least I got it in the album draft.

Ive never liked the beatles. They were influential and all, but compared to todays standards i think they are way overrated. Idk, im wierd like that. All my friends think im an idiot, but i just don't have a liking for english people sounding english singing about submarines and how yellow they are and what not...lol

hm, the problem there is for not liking them you cite one of their most infamously bad songs. Try some of their best out. I don't really want to name any for sake of the draft, but check out the albums by thenmdrafted in the album thread. Especially Sgt. Pepper's and Revolver. They probably are one of the most diverse bands ever so I'm sure they have a song or two out of their 500+ that you'd like.

Yeah, I admit they have a couple that I like, but yeah thats my point, they have like 500 songs and i only like about 5 of them..haha. I kind of compare them to like how queen has a bunch of random wierd songs and some stadium rock songs. Yeah some of them are catchy but I can't take them seriously and i think they suck.

You know, I let you attack the Beatles, but I draw the line at you going after Queen.

:p

If it's an iPod, there's a way to make certain songs unavailable to shuffle in the iTunes library. That was an important discovery after two seven hour road trips (down and back) during which I spent way too much time skipping through Christmas music and tracks from "Songs in the Key of Springfield."

EDIT: I'm too lazy to correct the grammatical atrocities in this post, but can't bear to think that someone might get the impression I wasn't aware of them.
