I mean if an artist records a 30 minute extended live version of a 3 minute song from their first album, those are two completely different songs.
Same title, same song.
What about when an artist re-imagines an earlier song with a new title, but its still basically the same song, just updated for modern times? But it has a new title, so its a new song, right?
Different title, different song.
(this one may be over ridden in extreme circumstances)
What about a band that does a live version of 2-3 songs rolled into one (happens quite a lot)... are all the originals off the table after that?
I see the value in allowing segue's/medley's, and actually thought about it a bit and how guidelines could be put forth. I ended up deciding that it would get too confusing and in a way deviates from the spirit of the thread. No segue's will be permitted, single tracks only please. I will add that one of my picks would have been a segue, if we allowed them.
If you pick such and such song from such and such concert one pick, then you can pick the next segue'd song next pick as long as noone else has picked any version of either song by the same artist. That is fair. 1 pick, 1 song, but voters will still consider it as a segue. This applies to live versions only, studio medleys are out.
Only three spots left!
