I think he'd be a good fit as a backup SF, but not really starting material on a great team, given the rest of our lineup.

I think the better question is, what does this team need from a small forward? Do we need consistent outside shooting? Do we need a slasher and rebounder? It's funny because the Kings have two 3's, and they are quite different. Casspi is a shooter, but he has been very streaky his first 2 years. Perhaps he will mellow with age and become the consistent outside threat we need. Greene has shown glimpses of being a triple threat, but his work ethic has proven to be very poor. Coming into camp out of shape smacks of Miller/Hawes syndrome. The Kings do not need players who dont take the game serious enough to not get fat during the summer and expect training camp to be their only summer workout. The NBA demands that you train year round to be a participant. So with those 2, do we really have a starting 3 between them? I like elements of both players. Casspi can be a better shooter and a hustle player. Greene, when he is on his game is a very effective player. But that being said, I still believe that one of the positions we must upgrade is the 3 spot when free agency opens to the Kings. Let Casspi and Greene fight it out over who stays in training camp as a bench player. The Kings need consistency from that 3 spot, preferably a scorer who can be that third threat that teams need to succeed.

both players are bubble starters and they are in their 2nd and 3rd years. I think we could do worse then wait for further development. After all neither are over the age of 23.

He got paid so now he just sucks. Pass.

Actually his numbers before signing a new contract are almost identical to his numbers after he signed a new contract. He was a below average 3 pt shooter before, and he's still a below average 3 pt shooter.

I honestly don't think that right now he's that much of an upgrade, if he is an upgrade, over Casspi. Casspi is a better 3 pt shooter, and rebounds just as well as Ariza. This is Casspi's second year in the league, and contrary to what was posted earlier, this is Ariza's 6th year in the league and he is 25 years old.

My point is, that I doubt Ariza is going to get much better than he is right now. Whereas Casspi still has upside left, and is as good as Ariza is right now. So why make the trade, unless your considering him as Casspi's backup in place of Green. I'd rather hang onto Greene, unless we can get a serious upgrade.
