No way, Marbury to Sacramento?

by Greg Pitsch

There are talks beginning to pop up about Stephon Marbury, the Knicks point guard being dealt to either the Kings, or Trail Blazers.

It seems more apparent that he would be traded to the Kings. Seeing how the Knicks are looking for more big guys. Brad Miller would be the lone trade, one for one. Seeing how the Kings are looking for more speed, this sounds possible.

There are also Rumors that they might be willing to dish out two forwards for Marbury. Theese two being Shareef Abdur-Rahim, and Kenny Thomas. Again hoping to build speed in the line-up.

I am unsure as to why you would put your eggs in the basket and hand it over to the Rookie Spencer Hawes, or even Mikki Moore, a first year player with the Kings, who at times looks as though he isn't familiar with the offense yet.

Marbury also comes with a contract looking like a price-tag; 2 years and 42 million dollars.

Watch for more news of this in the upcoming weeks.

pppaaahhhahahahahah My goodness, if this actually happened? I seriously just spilled my drink out of my mouth as i laughed uncontrollably. They looking to get all east coast on us now huh. I CANNOT STAND Marbury. Just listening to him talk is remarkably troubling for me.

Here's the bio for the writer:

Greg's Bio

Im am a 22 year old college writer, who will sooon be studying at UC Berkeley. I am a true fan to the Oakland Raiders, whom i follow with a passion. The Sacramento Kings, although im not happy with their play as of late. And a follower of baseball in general. Seemingly the Oakland Athletics. I was a high school football official for the past three years, and seem to have a great feel for the game at any level.

If this was deal of Starbury for SAR and Kenny, I would do it (if it works salary wise) if only to get more PT for some young guys that we actually have (Hawes, Williams and Watkins). I'm also pretty sure teams would like Stephon as an expiring after next year, if thats when his contract is up, which would be the same as Mikes if I'm not mistaken (could very well be).

Does not work moneywise. Brad may be PART of the deal (to help shave his salary of course), but he is not enough alone. In fact thankfully about the only way a Brad based deal could work is if we were throwing in one of turd forwards as well. Not sure what the hell the Knicks would do with Brad anyway. You already have Curry and Randolph and Lee -- although maybe Brad would be the way of detaching Lee from them. Also remember Brad once talking about how much he hated New York -- as a true hick the hustle and bustle was the anti-him.

There was a sophisticatred article in the NY Sun this morning about the Marbury to Kings (or Blazers) possiblities: http://www.nysun.com/article/66514

The auhor in the above understood the financials, and that any such trade would be made by the Kings or Blazers in order to dump more salary, and would likely be followed by a buyout.

I detest Marbury with a passion but we if we can dump some crappy contracts onto the knicks for a shorter one then..GET IT DONE PETRIE!!!

I'd hate to lose brad, but if we could lose Kenny AND/OR Mikki in the process...GET ER DONE!

Let's say it was Brad/Kenny/Mikki for Marbury/Randolph Morris/Filler(Wilson Chandler?):

Kings new roster

C: Spencer Hawes, Daryl Watkins, Randolph Morris
PF: Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Justin Williams
SF: Ron Artest, John Salmons, Wilson Chandler
SG: Kevin Martin, Francisco Garcia, Quincy Douby
PG: Stephon Marbury(waived?), Beno Udrih, Mike Bibby(traded?)

You can't pass that trade up. It's the ultimate rebuild in 2 years trade. Bibby probably gets dealt OR Marbury gets bought out.

Why would you hate to lose Miller? Just another bad contract as far as I'm concerned.

I'm sure if a trade like this were actually made it would primarily be about the knicks dumping their headache for someone they consider helpful (although I don't know why) in Miller; so I don't think they're willing to give up any young prospects along with taking on extra year contracts. They'd already be doing us a favor so I don't know why they'd give up even one of Morris and Chandler (who they like very much). I guess you never know though, Isiah could be that dumb.

Some combination like Brad + SAR + Ron works.

Why we do it: we unload a probable ender (Ron) and 2 guys whose contracts aren't up until 2010, in return for one guy whose contract is up in 2009. And that guy may be amenable to a buyout, if it comes to that. Overcongestion at SF goes away, logjam of aging bigs is reduced. Maybe we even help our lottery chances a bit.

Why they do it: Starbury is anathema to Isiah, who will probably unload him for almost anything which matches payroll. Isiah can say that he solved the problem, and even brought Artest to NY, possibly saving his job.

Why it won't happen: this starts the rebuild and cuts short the contract hell we've been consigned to, wasting years of precious work.

Brad Miller (3 yrs)
Ron Artest (option)
Kenny Thomas (3 yrs)

for

Starbury (2 yrs)
David Lee (2 yrs)
Fred Jones (expiring)
2008 first round unprotected pick

They obviously get things they want with Ron and Brad plus another PF. They get rid of the problem child (Marbury) they lose a youngster (Lee) and a throw in expiring (fred jones making room for Ron in that spot) with what they get back for their crap (except for Lee) I don't think they would have a problem giving the pick away. The Salaries work out as well.

And with Zeke desperate to save his job, one more roll fo the dice maybe for him.

Its a thoguht out plan. But we've had a number of those in the last year in particular, and they never bear any fruit. Wake up the next day to the same dull reality.

I would not want us to trade for Marbury, unless the intent was to buy him out and never let him wear a Kings jersey. Ugh.

I think we need brads rebounding right now, so unless we get a big in return, David Lee *cough*. I am very impressed with him so far over 9 games.

would you be impressed with him 2 years from now making 15 mil a year. Or would you rather get rid of him now while he has value.
