Trade Idea: Trade for Billups

As the Knicks persue Tyson Chandler, it is clear they will need to clear out Chancy Billups salary... how about a swap like this to help them out:

I think Billups would be great in Sac; put Reke at the 2, but I am afraid the Kings would just be renting him...

I have been reading them; thought the idea deserved it's own thread. I know he will not be amnesitied, but with a trade, nothing is out of the question.

He will get the amnesty because any team that's far enough under the cap to take on his contract could get him for 50-75% of that price by bidding high for him under amnesty.

His agent is trying to scare teams off because Billups wants both his 14 million and another 5 from another team. Sorry, Billups. Enjoy going back to the T-wolves for a year.

Billups is old and overrated, most problematically by himself. Acquiring him would use the bulk of our caprrom unless it was amnesty. And if it was amnesty he has said repeatedly that he will **** you up if he doesn't end up on a contender. Ego writing checks and all that.

Billups is the past. Our team is the future. That's where we have to be in free agency. We've got thigns to do today wiht important pieces for our future. Not 1 yr rentals.

No way. Just wait for the Knicks to amnesty him and then put in a minimum-value bid so he can't go to the Lakers. He could be a useful piece for one year (or an empty bench slot, if he whines) for super cheap, but not at ~$8M over Garcia.
