That's why I started a separate thread to thank DC and honor him for the time he spent here. This thread, therefore, can be used to discuss the ramifications of the trade, etc.

We're all in varying degrees of shock. But as more times passes, I find myself able to view this a little more objectively. As I mentioned above, Petrie was right about not re-signing Vlade. He might well be right in doing this trade, too. He knows a lot more about the players than we do...

And it was clear something had to be done. Now it has been done. Whether or not it ends up being THE right thing is something we'll have all summer to talk about, one way or the other.

I don't see how so many people can not likew this trade. We now have the most potnet starting lineup in the league, are younger, and didn't lose much defensively.

Say what you want about Doug, but he's not even close to what he was defensively. This is a GREAT trade.

My god, I went into a movie at 4:30 and just got out... I was even listening to KHTK before I went in. I can't believe Dougs gonna be gone. This trade could go either way, I don't think anyone should be saying they know for sure if this is a good trade or bad trade yet. But a lot of people are getting what they want, and have been asking for. I will say this, I think this trade will hurt. I've been against giving up Doug and I still am. I think this trade will definately help Orlando who I will be watching a lot more. Piksi is right though .. this is just the begining. We will finally see if breaking up the team(Vlade and Doug) to pick up guys like Mobley was the right move or the wrong move. I only hope I've been wrong this whole time and the Kings will get better.

I skipped this thread earlier thinking it was another annoying speculation. I'm shocked, just shocked. The guy plays his heart out and gives whatever he has every night, hurt or not. No complaints, no drama (leave his marriage out of it!), no excuses.

Due to Sacramento and Orlando being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. Sacramento and Orlando had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Wow. So...many...mixed...feelings...

I don't know what to make of this one. As is evident from this forum tonight, DC is a well liked and much appreciated player - and he deserves all of it and then some. He was my favorite player/person on the team since Vlade left so I will really miss him. I wish him all the success in his professional life and all the best in his personal life. Somehow I think he will benefit in some ways from playing in the East as his career winds down. Who knows, on a team like Orlando (neither here not there kind of team) Petrie might just extended DC's playing days for a year or two.

On the other hand, we lend younger, more offensivce minded 2-guard. Mobly may be undersized and not as good a defender as DC is/was but he is definetly not poor/bad defensively.

If trading DC (because of injury/contract concerns) was a goal, Petrie could have done much worse then Mobly. As was mentioned before, Mobly could end up transforming his career and rep in the Kings uniform like so many players before him if he is willing to work within the system.

One thing I don't understand (yet - time will tell): With Mobly and Mike in the back-court we're going to have one smoking pair of guards not too dissimilar to what Houston had last season (boy do they miss it this year). I am of course talking about tempo, not just scoring/shooting. Does this equate to an improvement and was there a concern over DC's continuing ability in this respect too? Considering that Chris is no spring chicken anymore can we even go back to the "old" Kings' ball and score more in transition and by pushing the ball?

mmmmmmm....this post reeks of piksimism.

i'm still not sure what to make of this trade. the orlando fans seem pissed about it. the obvious upside that nobody can deny is that mobley is only 29 years old. we get younger in this trade, at the very least. we're gonna miss doug's passing, his defense, his hustle, and his locker room presence, but in the long run (which is VERY important), sacramento may really have gotten the better of this trade. it still remains to be seen, and im a bit pessimistic (or piksimistic, if you will), cuz im worried the maloofs are ready to shake this franchise to pieces. if there were guys on this team that i felt had the greatest job security, i would say, in this order, mike bibby, doug christie, and brad miller. now that christie's been traded, i feel like things could really start changing in sactown in the next coupla seasons. which is, of course, inevitable, but its still sad when ya look back at all the memories.

It’s a tough, tough day for me because Doug has been a big part of our success since he’s been here. It is going to leave a big void but sometimes you have to make deals to try and help the team. It came unexpected and I wish him well.

Cuttino gives us a lot of offense. He’s a great shooter, he can break defenses down, and he gives us something we don’t have on our team. Hopefully he’s able to fit into our system and we’ll be able to do things for him with the other players that we have that will help him.

Was he 1st or 2nd all defensive team the last 4 years? We'll see what happens, but saying we didn't lose any D isn't only disrespectful of Doug it's ignoring the truth. He's a good defender but he's not DC.

We are not really upset. More like shocked and sentimental here. We support Kings and appreciate when a player gives everything at all time.

Doug Christie really liked to play for Kings.

I think this is a good trade. Doug was a good player for the Kings, and he will certainly be missed, but I think this improves the basketball team now and in the future. Cuttino is a solid player, and I'm glad to have him on the squad.

For the record, Bradley was thrown in because they needed to make the numbers work. He's been on the IL twice this year already with hamstring problems so I doubt if the whole trade was centered around him.

One thought does occur, however...Did we have TWO roster slots open? Or will someone have to go *cough Bye, bye Erick cough* to make room for Bradley?
