tonight's game

Garcia was less trigger happy than last game but he still likes to shoot no question. How much of that is attributed to his role though?????? He us usually on court with a 2nd until and he is probably the best scorer in the 2nd unit anyway. Maybe the coaching staff likes to to come off the bench and provide a bit of energy and a scoring punch off the bench

Maybe they are looking for B-Jax type of role for Garcia during the pre-season

Maybe Francisco Garcia should also practice on getting a rebound. He had ZERO rebounds for 16 minutes. Jason Hart played the same amount and he had 3 rebounds.

what I wonder is if you only have 1 foul by the 3rd quarter, why don't you try going a little more "all out," defensively in the 4th??? It would definately make the whole team more aggressive in defense.... even if it is just preseason. Just a thought.

I would not have a problem with Garcia shooting if he bothered to do anything else. He had 13 pts, but he had zero reb, zero asst, zero steal.....heck, his defense was nothing but committing fouls (he had 5).

I am glad that he can shoot, but I don't want to see any black holes out there. When he does anything for the team, besides score, I will be impressed.

No RA was not happy with Garcia over his shot selection out there. But he's not afraid, which is good. Hopefully better decisions start to flow.

I doubt KT was very happy. Playing with better players makes him better. But if he comes off the bench, I think he'll be playing with a very good point guard.

If KT comes off the bench, I hope he will accept his role. All I've heard so far is he wants to be the starter. I think Sharif should start instead of KT.

Oh, I definitely think Shareef should start. I just pray KT will understand how valuable he still can be, coming off the bench. Bobby made his rep that way. :D

Well its not like he shot a bad percentage.. So if he can hit the shots let him shoot. He just needs to work on picking his moments and not rushing. he's not really a Bobby Jackson type player, he's a playmaker ahead of a scorer.. Well thats what he was in college.

You want a player who does more than just score?

What the hell kind of Kings fan are you???

:p

Actually Garcia can do some of everything aside from scoring - block, steal, pass, even board. All at least nicely for him. That's what he's noted for, why Geoff picked him, and why he was so good for Louisville. He'll have to adjust to the NBA-level, but that doesn't take away his versatility and talent of course. Maybe they're experimenting on things with Garcia, which is all apart of pre-season. Garcia could also be wanting to show how he is as a shooter, which comes into play with the former sentence.

I may be wrong, but taking one game and labeling him as just a scorer is a weird assumption, IMO. While it wasn't quite NBA-level, he showed his versatility in the VSL.

Exactly, its nice to see he can score here, the rest of his game will come as he gets more comfortable...

Overall I thought that was a fairly good measuring stick. We still have a ways to go, but after this game there is pretty much no doubt in my head that Bibby, Bonzi, Peja, Reef, and Brad should be the starting lineup. They really got in going together in the third. You know, one thing I am really starting to like is how Bonzi and Reef really demand the double team when they post up! This could be an interesting situation.

Well not sure how big a measuring stick it is -- a Clippers team without Elton Brand, Chris Kaman, Shaun Livingston, and then Zeljko Rebraca after the first quarter isn't much of a foe even during the regular season, let along when playing Daniel Ewing, Bonifcace N'Dong, James Singleton and Jared Reiner against our much more seasoned players.

But I do agree that that third quarter was quite encouraging -- got on a roll and showed we can be very potent and multifaceted offensively. Was against a thrown together team with no size or defenders though, so I'm not going to jump for joy quite yet.

Positives from game in rough order:
1) we got our schwerve on in the third quarter, and the starters looked very potent there for a stretch
2) Bonzi did his job and really gave us a boost of inside play and boardwork
3) Jason Hart was very good and very solid on both ends of the court as our backup PG
4) Brian Skinner scrapped in there as a backup center, and he got the minutes to help. If he and Hart can do that in the regular season, and are given the minutes to do so, it wil help us. Again though, Clippers had no size at all, certainly no proiven NBA size, so it was Skinner against the whos?
5) Cisco struggled until blowing up in the last quarter offensively. But during that stretch he showed why he might be the logical SF backup -- we can run all of Peja's sets with him in there. He showed nice cutting ability, finished, has the three point shot. Still very much a question whether he can rebound or defend against NBA SFs though, as he did neither last night, and of course he was just gunning up too much quickshot crap. Hopefully just his mistaken attempt to impress the coaches the way many young players try to -- shoot more!

A dim spot (not bright) was the way the second team palyed. Although they did notnecesarly play tht well together as a team there weresome promising elements. Persoanly I LIKED the fact taht RA pulled Bard early whith SAR when Reef had foultroble beceause the COMBINATION of Skinner and Thomas is morecomplemetary than Kenny and Brad together even when Kenny is not doing much. Like others have said Garcia is still very rough but his ablity to score, and more importantly his hustel are very good signs. Once again Martin may not be ready for prime time but he is stronger and smoother and looks dam good at moments. Hart's controll and defense are great! All this and Corless still just filing in speaks well for the Kings benceh as these guys get more time toghter on the court.

I really do not worry about the starting 5 jelling, they are all professionals and looked better last night than they did against Dalls and I expect they will get better and better.

Listen to Adelman, he's not worried about the competition as much as he is our team getting some chemistry. SO for that I say it was a good measuring stick, our own that is.
