Time to start the annual draft poll of who KingsFans think will fall to the Kings, this year at #10.

My two requirements.

1: Be over 6'7.

2: Have your versatility apply ONLY to the PF/C positions.

Namewise, I pray Brandon Wright somehow falls, but there's pretty much no chance there, so I like one of the two other bigs in (preferably) Yi Jianlian or Spencer Hawes...Who doesn't thrill me, but he's a need.

I chose Hawes because of the wording of the question. I don't think the others will be available at the 10.

Jeff Green is the one guy I'm confident it won't be because Petrie didn't work him out and he sounded pretty dead-set against drafting someone he hasn't worked out in that interview earlier in the offseason.

I don't think Hawes falls, I believe the rumors that Minny likes him at 7. I think it's Wright if Conley, BWright, or Yi don't fall to us.

Who I think: Julian Wright
Who I hope: Yi Jianlian

Just going by what I've read it doesn't look like we have really worked out any top 10 talent besides, Yi, J. Wright, Hawes, Brewer, and Thornton. So unless Petrie trades down or decides on breaking his rule of drafting a player that hasn't worked out for us, or the reports on who have worked out for us are simply wrong then it has to be one of those 5.

Either Boston takes Yi or he falls to us. This is my prediction.

But if a Wright brother (there are 2, don't know if they're really brothers) falls to us I desperately hope we take one of them.

Since I have no idea how the rest of the teams are going to draft, I really don't know. Obviously I would like it be be Yi, and when we go on the clock on Thursday and I see who's left on the baord I would be willing to run over here and guess who we'll take. But trying to figure out who we will evne an opportunity to nab makes this a crapshoot, at least for me.

I think Petrie will draft Al thornton because of his athleticism. It's off the charts. Aside from being only 6'7" , his other measurements are phenomenal. I don't think our starting sf will be here so why not?

Petrie will get someone that falls to him like Brandon Wright, Jeff Green, Mike Conley or Yi Jianlian...or take a total curveball and draft someone like Thad Young.

Because sub-superstar level SFs are largely irrelevant and we are in desperate need of bigs (who are not)?

But again, I only know who I'd draft, not how its actually going to go down.

^Yeah, ultimately I just can't see us drafting a SF, unless Brewer were to somehow fall to us. Even without Artest we still have Garcia and Salmons, and I think the organization is pretty high on Garcia's future.

But who knows.

I voted Yi mostly cause that's who I liked best on the list and from the Mocks I've seen he seems to be the most common pick for us at 10. On this board it doesn't sound like he'll fall to us but I'm still hoping. If its not him my guess would be J. Wright cause the others will probably be gone. I really like J. Green if none of the other big guys are there, then again I've heard conflicting reports as to whether or not he's really a PF or not.

lol Brandon Wright will be long gone as will Yi I suspect. I think we will take Julian Wright if not we will take Jason Smith.

Radio hear is saying boston takes green, almost no doubt, we'll see though
they are working him out AGAIN tomorrow with brewer and noah, and they say if green can take brewer off the dribble then its a no brainer for green, this will be the first time green has worked out against players.

There is just too much unpredictability before our pick to know who will be available there. If Yi is available at 10, I definetly see Petrie taking him. Hell if we were pickining 3rd in this draft I could see Petrie taking Yi because its his type of player ;)

If Minnesota keeps their pick, I could see them picking Hawes at 7 so I think he will also be off the table when its our turn. Considering that we haven't worked out Green, I don't think it will be him. Something tells me it will likely be Thornton or Julian Wright but if one of Yi, B. Wright (if we worked him our), Hawes, Brewer, or Conley drops down to 10, I think petrie will take them in that order of preference.

.... and leave us not forget who is our GM and the "predicticable" picks he makes. So far as I know every mock draft and every serious fan has come close to picking anyone GP has selected in the last 11 years. No one!!!

Remember Peja in 1996? We all wanted that slock from Syracuse, John something or other, who was out of the league in 2-3 years. Then Olivier Saint Jean from San Jose State in '97. Then JWill in '98 and no first rounder in 99. Then Turkoglu in 2000 followed by Gerald Wallace in '01, Dickau in 02 (at #30) and no picks at all in 2003. Then Martin, Cisco and Douby.

How many of us picked ANY of them?

So what ever the mocks say, history is against us. Will this year be the year the mocks get us one of the 5 in the poll??

Um, Kingsgurl picked Kevin Martin in the mock draft almost two weeks before the actual draft in 2004. And she's been right the whole time about him.

Just setting the record straight.

;)
