Tiago Splitter revisted

I thought I would revisit the Tiago Splitter trade from a few months ago. Now that is obvious that Jefferson is not working out and the Spurs are looking for a defensive center. In this trade they would trade away some of their future for one more roll of the dice. If Charlotte make the DJ for Glen Davis trade Chandler will be completely superfluous. They would also save money next year, which is always big for Charlotte.

I have also determined that we will not be adding salary this year so this trade has to be salary neutral. Also our defensive young big is not currently available for trade in the NBA but he is available overseas. For those not familiar with him:

Now this does a few other things for us. We dump Nocioni and Beno's contracts for 11/12 and 12/13 and we combine Beno's, Nocioni's and Ime's minutes into one hopefully alleviating some of the minute crunch when Martin comes back. Also we can give Mahinmi a look who has more talent than Hilton Armstrong does.

SAC
->Beno + Nocioni + Ime + Hilton
<-Splitter + Jefferson + A. Law + Mahinmi

SA
->Splitter + Jefferson + Mason + Mahinmi
<-Chandler + Nocioni + Ime

CHA
->Chandler + A. Law
<-Beno + Hilton + Mason

Richard Jefferson would be a devastaitng acquisition for everything we are doing here. He's just an absolute no.

Splitter..heh,yeah, if he decided to come over before he's 40. But one unknown mythological character isn't worth squishing two younger better prospects we already have here in Omri and Donte. We really need to empty that SF position for them. Omri, Donte, and then maybe Cisco or Udoka as a SG/SF. Get rid of eveything else in their way. They are both the present and the future there.

I've read that Splitter's actually planning on coming this summer. He sat out for so long because doing so apparently frees you from the rookie salary scale, and he thinks he can make more than the few hundred $k that late first rounders get.

Still waiting for that guy to report to training camp. Any year now;)

From his Wiki page: Nicknames- Bodi Bond, "White Magic", Mr. MVP, God

God?!? Wow, isnt that saying a bit much there? God plays for the Kings!! Not much Laker fan can say to top that, eh??:D

edit: and he's only 36 yrs old now, sure that's good enough to still do some good...after all, wasnt Sabonis like 48 when he got to Portland??

I would want 0 part of Jefferson. However, if the Spurs wanted to do a smaller deal for a vet like Noc for an EC or 2 year contract and Splitter or Maihimi then I would be down.

Gee durrr.. I am glad you aren't the GM durrrrr...

On a serious note i had been able to scout him a bit (and I use that term loosely) and he was an interesting big.. Kind of weak, but that was a couple years ago. I am sure Petrie is all for giving big men that nobody else wants a try, but so far he has not been successful on one of them... So if Petrie actually wanted Splitter it would probably be safe to assume that he's not going to do much.
