This Loss Means Nothing

I used to be partial to a 1/2 cola (Pepsi or Coke), 1/4 Mountain Dew, 1/4 lemon lime (7UP or Sprite) mix myself, but that was when I was about 16.:p

But why??? shiver

I tried this mix again about a year ago and it showed me, without doubt, that teenagers don't know nuthin' about nuthin'. It was foul.

No offense to the teenagers on this board, by the way. When you get a little older, you will also realize how stupid you are right now when it comes to certain things.

Luckily, however, your road to knowledge won't involve Cross Colors, like it did for my generation.

Yep. And it's the hope and the prayers that keep me from going outside in the middle of this storm (which makes the night you and KG brought me home look like clear skies, BTW) and waiting for lightning to strike me.

We love this team. It's in our blood and no matter how angry we get, we aren't going to stop this quickly.

GO KINGS!!!

I aggree completely with you.

No, we certainly won't.

All we know is:

1) that the oddsmakers in Vegas have rapidly increased the odds on the Kings to win the title in the last 2 months.

2) that many, many fans are now grabbing at any little thing that takes place in a game to cite recent improvement

3) that the coach is saying that the team doesn't have the same talent that it used to have to overcome bad game stretches

4) that we have many more "it's just 1 of 82" posts here than ever before.

Expectations are lower in ALL camps, probably even with those that type here that our team is now better than it was earlier in the year.

With Duncan going down tonight, it's just one more thing that casts a different light on all that has happened to our team.

We are worse. No doubt. But we still have a chance. IMHO it's the kind of chance that most non-elite teams entering the playoffs have always had, and the one that historically does not come to fruition.

But that's why they play the games, so we shall see...and hope...and pray...
Oh yeah, and after all thats gone on, and I've kinda believed this over the last few years:

5) That the myth about Arco Arena being built on an old indian burial ground...just might be true, and that the Kings really are cursed to never win a championship, and always will have bad luck as a franchise.

Hell, I'll believe anything at this point. It's damn near sickening to think about, as Kings fans. 20 years of this, dammit...at least its not 86 like the Sox, but it could be, who knows, I'll be like 96 when the Kings finally do win one.*L*

:D Slim you should bring back the wrestling thread

Mountain Dew makes me heave just to think about it.

Slim, I've made myself clear that my wrassler idol is this dood. He's the only one worthy of a DP/Sprite.

I stopped drinking all soda about two years ago, and now I don't even have the desire for it so all those combinations sound gross... but I used to like Squirt the best.

My take on the team is yes, we gave up on this season with the Webber trade, but it will keep us competitive longer. With Webber, all our eggs were in one very expensive, fragile basket. Next year, after Petrie has acquired Elton Brand, we will be up there with the elite again. :D

Grapefruit is close enough to lemon lime, btw...

Well except for those few of us who just keep on getting younger and better looking with each passing year. :p

BTW, I have to second, "Cross Colors?" -- I even googled it and still don't think I've ever heard of it.

It's one of those young secrets. ;)

Nah, just kidding. I don't know what the hell that is either.

It was a popular clothing brand when I was in junior high....you have to spell color with a u in it...cross colours...you should be able to find it then...;)

Cross colours? Soda combo's? Feels like '92 or so all over again. Do you think sending Owens to GS for Richmond will work? Remember the expectations back then?

Cross Colours was a mid-90's clothing brand that was quite popular, despite the inclusion of big, baggy, bright orange jeans.

BRIGHT orange.

I have no idea whether we are better before. No matter which way you go. Its still a guess.. and one without any certainty.

Well Owens is refusing to play for us. And with what Tellem has said I dont want him here either. Bring in Mitch Richmond. We need a scorer.:p

Ive always liked Dr Pepper. One of the main ingredients is apple juice. I was watching a show on the food network which revealed that its mostly all juices from fruits. But there is no pepper. I believ the name came from a local dr in Waco where it began.

Mixing sodas can be dangerous.. Never know what could happen.;)

Nice to see an Iron Sheik picture. Been along time since ive seen him. I loved hating him as a kid. And is that Volkov? They both are in the HOF this year.

I like this thread... such diversity of topics..lol

I am sure we would have dominated with our starting SG on the IL for the rest of the season and our starting center with a broken leg. Webb and Darius would have carried us to a championship for sure.

No championship, but we probably would still be running an actual offense. The Kings have been out assisted in 10 of the last 11 games. The rebounding and defense were never going to be a strength, but at least the offense flowed. Now its all one one one with brief glimpses of the old passing.

Miller's injury directly caused most of this, but many fans don't realize how lucky the Kings were to have two of the best passing big men at the same time(And three last season). Power forwards/Centers that can come in and pass the ball like point guards are not common in the NBA. Hopefully Petrie will find a player next year that he can plug into the former system, or one of the new players will show the ability to fill that passing role. Otherwise, the Kings could be going through a large shift in their style of play for next season.

Webber was fragile, and the frontcourt as it was composed(Webber, Miller, Peja) was way too slow to defend anyone inside. The way he has been used in Philly has caused his recent struggles. Chris' morale after being traded, much like Doug Christie, is also way down. Getting three players that can contribute was a good move, but noone can say how Webber would have finished the season if her were still here.

Peja symbolizes the "on again/off again" Kings. He really needs to look inside himself and commit to becoming a better player. Even in the good game he had against the Clippers on Saturday he disappeared during the stretch run in the 4th and in OT.

Unless Peja can somehow surprise us all and really step it up when it matters in the playoffs, I think Petrie should look into trading him. As of right now, Peja just doesn't have what it takes deep down and isn't the kind of guy you want on your team. (since he's never took it back, he apparently still doesn't want to be here).

Perhaps one of the biggest things we'll get out of the playoffs is whether or not it's worth keeping Peja.

peja having hard time to make a shot.and evryone on a team paniking and start shoting and all we see is4 from12 ,5 from 15.i see only neptune seting screens for him and no onells. exept mybe songaila trying to set some for him and bibby. that dose not look anymore as a team it look like average nba players on a court. kings missing a REAL MAN in alocker room ,the one how will make accountabel for misstakes and the one how will bring team together somebody nedds to step up, someone BIG .someone how understands KINGS game not statistics pickers.someone how will make evryone on a court look better then they look right now
