This Loss Means Nothing

A team of Bibby, House, Evans, Peja, Daniels, Songaila, and Thomas is not a playoff team. Before we go blaming the owners, coaching staff, players, etc., how about just realizing that injuries have once again slammed us hard? Out for tonight: Bobby Jackson, Cuttino Mobley, Corliss Williamson, Brian Skinner, Brad Miller.

I'm disappointed we don't gain on the Rockets or Grizz, but I certainly didn't expect to win this game, just as I don't expect the Kings to win a playoff series this year. Thank Geoff Petrie that this is what our rebuilding year looks like, and that we're already primed to be an elite team next year. That's an amazing job by management if you ask me.

I think 'primed to be an elite team' might be stretching it quite a bit. It all depends on what Petrie can pull out of his hat over the summer. Yes, Petrie is EXTREMELY gifted, but building an elite team is not an easy task. You can't go down to the local 7 11 and pick up a super star, or even a star. It takes a little luck to go with that skill (and someone has to be willing to be the next GM to deal with Geoff)

but wouldn't it be great if you could order one online? ;)

Well when you consider that the odds are about the same at winning a championship now as before, what does it really matter.

Actually, the odds AREN'T the same. Been to vegas lately?

They aren't even close. If Duncan is really hurt this time or gets hurt in/before the playoffs I'm really going to be pissed.

After this game a sorta agree wit ya. It wouldn't even be that bad if we never made it to the playoffs and got a lottery pick.

I don't know about everyone else but i REALLY miss Brad...woo boy

PLEASE FOR THE LOVE GOD EVERYONE GET HEALTHY!! PLEASE!!

We may not be going anywhere this season in the POs with all of our guys back or not but i would love to be able to see everyone back healthy and our full team play together, ya know?

I am sure we would have dominated with our starting SG on the IL for the rest of the season and our starting center with a broken leg. Webb and Darius would have carried us to a championship for sure.

Well, we'd have a lot better shot at getting a better seed and getting out of the first round so we could get those guys back and make a run STK.

We'll never know, will we?

At this point, it is all conjecture. We are a team of walking wounded, with fewer and fewer tricks left in the bag.

I mentioned it in another thread, but at this point I will be happy if they make it through the season alive. Anything better than that will be cause for dancing in the streets.

No, but you can get a Big Gulp and a Super Big Gulp. And you can mix 3/4ths Dr. Pepper with 1/4th Sprite and no one gives you any lip about it.

No, we certainly won't.

All we know is:

1) that the oddsmakers in Vegas have rapidly increased the odds on the Kings to win the title in the last 2 months.

2) that many, many fans are now grabbing at any little thing that takes place in a game to cite recent improvement

3) that the coach is saying that the team doesn't have the same talent that it used to have to overcome bad game stretches

4) that we have many more "it's just 1 of 82" posts here than ever before.

Expectations are lower in ALL camps, probably even with those that type here that our team is now better than it was earlier in the year.

With Duncan going down tonight, it's just one more thing that casts a different light on all that has happened to our team.

We are worse. No doubt. But we still have a chance. IMHO it's the kind of chance that most non-elite teams entering the playoffs have always had, and the one that historically does not come to fruition.

But that's why they play the games, so we shall see...and hope...and pray...

Yep. And it's the hope and the prayers that keep me from going outside in the middle of this storm (which makes the night you and KG brought me home look like clear skies, BTW) and waiting for lightning to strike me.

We love this team. It's in our blood and no matter how angry we get, we aren't going to stop this quickly.

GO KINGS!!!

I have been known to make myself that combo. Sprite is the best lemon lime bev on the market. There's basically 3 types of lemon limes: 7Uplike, Spritelike, and Squirtlike. Sprite's the best. It's pretty good with DDP in the right proportions.

Sprite n Dr Pepper Big Gulps all around! I'm buyin.

Bull hookey; Sierra Mist is the best lemon-lime beverage on the market.

Huh?

Are you aware that Squirt is not, in fact, a lemon-lime beverage, but is actually a grapefruit beverage?

DDP? You like to drink Sprite with Diamond Dallas Page?

more like you'd taint a perfectly good sprite with dr pepper YUCKO!!! :D

as for the kings, alcaron is right, this loss means nothing. sure the warriors were without their big kings killer, but we lost our size advatage in brad, we didn't have out 2nd hlaf CLUTCH performer in cuttino, we didn't have our back up SF and our super sub bobby J, who if he had been around for the past 2 months would for sure have taken the load off bibby, thus bibby would have been more effective with less minutes played coming into this game. no biggies.

i'm more embarassed then worried. it's the stinking warriors. the kings are better then them, they just weren't all there. a full healthy kings squad beats them. like i said in the game thread last thursday, you can have your win and your lottery pick, we'll be in the playoffs.

cursed, i knew i forgot something ;) i still don;'t get how he sprained both his thumbs, that jsut seems impossible to do. well, when in a kings uni... :D

I don't think one can put too much stock into what kind of team we are without Brad, Mobley, Bobby, Skinner, and Corliss. However, if Peja doesn't step it up, we are as good as done. It will be nice to go to the playoffs and get some experience there with some of the new faces, but I doubt we will go far with all the injuries and lack of time to right the ship. I'm stll holding out Petrie's masterplan.

You, obviously, don't go to 7/11 with me.

Make a concoction that nasty in my presence, and you'd get Angie-sized lip.

I used to be partial to a 1/2 cola (Pepsi or Coke), 1/4 Mountain Dew, 1/4 lemon lime (7UP or Sprite) mix myself, but that was when I was about 16.:p
