This is a interesting roster chemistry

Has anyone really thought about our roster "chemistry ", well we have Rahim ,bibby and bonzi .

Rahim and bibby played for couple of season in vancouver . They did very good together , but the rest of the team had no decent talent .

Rahim and bonzi played well in portland , but there was too much off court / on court issues that plagued and gave them the name "Jail Blazers ".

It is helpful that these "new " guys have played together , but it will take some time for the all 5 guys to mesh as previous kings teams.

rahim and bonzi never played together

Bonzi was traded to Memphis for Wesley Person a couple months before SAR and Theo Ratliff were sent to Portland for Rasheed Wallace

Over the years, it has been shown time and time again that no matter what problems might have existed for players on previous teams, they seem - with a few notable exceptions - to be able to find themselves here and really shine.

I don't expect this year to be any different at all. I love SAR's attitude and based on the perception of Wells so far, it's pretty clear he's aware of how big a second chance he's received. I think both players are going to work out very, very well.

If I have any doubts about any player, it isn't one of them. It would be Kenny Thomas and his stubborn refusal to consider being PART of the team first and a starter second. That could very well lead to problems, but I have no doubt it's already on the minds of those who would have to deal with it.

Well put, VF. I think both Wells and SAR know what kind of opportunity exists playing here - how the players like being here and seem to thrive. For SAR - a chance to win. For Wells - rehabilitation of his image (and a chance to win). I think they will fall into line and do well. I just hope KT recognizes what the others have seen and follow suit.

Sorry to raise a cloudy thought - but my chemistry fear lies with Bibby and the younger point guards playing behind him. I truly believe there will be times when their defensive exploits will leave him on the bench for long stretches. I even think it is possible that the team may periodically look better without him on the floor.

I'm not a Bibby basher, but with other options we may not have to rely on the screen and roll as our only option this year, and thus his weaknesses may be less tolerable.

I seriously doubt that will occur, primarily because - in spite of his "weaknesses" - Mike Bibby is still one of the premiere PGs in the NBA today.

The truth is, with someone at the 4 like SAR, who actually has post moves, we could be looking at a much more efficient Bibby than at the end of last season, when he was pretty much out there trying to do it all.

indeed

even if this kings team had acquired defensive minded players this off season, we'd still be an offensively oriented team, though with better defensive compliments than we've had in the past. hart may be a good defending PG, and thats gonna help the kings a lot at times, but bibby is still gonna get the bulk of the PG minutes. he's a stud. everybody knows it. its not gonna be like the jason williams situation.

and i'm also hoping having a post presence in reef will open things up a little more for bibby. he doesnt have to lead the team in points to be the team's leader. its not easy for a PG to carry the load, so i'm really stoked about our backup PG's, cuz bibby wont have to log 40+ minutes a night.

In order of concern or lack thereof chemistry wise:

1) KT -- perenially grumpy guy. How much of it is all about him? Can he play the good teammate if the team is doing well but his own numbers are down?

2) Bonzi -- history dictates caution. Hoping he is ok as long as he gets his minutes/shots. Will become more of a concern if Kevin steals some of his minutes. Also has shown in the past he reflects bad chemistry around him and feeds off it. If others have issues, increases chance of Bonzi going south too. Maybe contract year will hold him in line.

3) Peja -- if he is not getting his shots with so much competition, and in a contract year, will he pout?

4) Corliss/Skinner -- both seem to be good guys. But both are also vets who figure to receive far fewer minutes than they are used to. Will be hard to be happy unless we are doing very very well. So any issues may be related to our fortunes.

5) SAR -- nice guy or not, issues have tailed along after him at his stops. He had his issues with Bibby in their younger years, last year at this time he was demanding a trade from Portland if they did not use him the way he wanted to be used. Being on a winning team will hopefully help. Bigger concern would be if KT actually did start over him + take his minutes.

6) Sampson -- if he makes it. Has no stature to really complain, but has had problems in the past and fairly or unfairly been labeled as a bit of a questionable character.

7) Bibby/Brad -- forsee no problems with this pair, UNLESS we really got serious about defense and they began to be benched for stretches. Still doubtful though, and likely the core of whatever chemistry we have.

8) Martin/Cisco -- hard to forsee any issues here if for no other reason than they are young and may not feel they have the stature. Still, minutes will be scarce, Kevin may feel its his time, and Cisco is used to playing big minutes in college, so anything is possible I suspose.

9) Hart -- hard to imagine any problems here. His role/minutes are likely locked in, and he's a new guy who's not an established stud in the league and therefore is highly unlikley to feel he has the standing to say anything.

Word :)

Sampson's only blight that I know of had nothing to do with basketball. It was an argument with a roomate that ended up with Sampson pushing (his version) or attacking (his roomate's version) the guy.

Or have you heard about any other issues?
