Oh come on, there's no way I'm worthy to be compared to the all time Great One
It's not that such a comparison didn't get me grinning ear to ear. Because it did![]()
Sure. Higher draft pick.
Why can the Bucks be so lucky and can their coach but we have to stick it out with ours?
Having a new coach next year is a MUST so why not make the change now and start moving forward and allow that coach to get to know his team?
Which coach would that be?
Be a hwole new team next year anyway...
Which coach would that be?
The Bucks must have had Krystowiak in their pocket (as a former player also). But normally that would be a dumb move. MUCh better to wait until the offseason, and then have a full slate of guys, from experienced bigwigs to other team's assistants, to interview/consider. With a month to go like this, the only people you can get are inexperienced longshots. Unless you have somebody all lined up, might as well wait the 19 games. Be a hwole new team next year anyway, might as well start it off fresh with a new coach/system.
The term is "Interim Coach", I believe.
Send a message that you are actually concerned about how bad the team is playing so far, and let the fan base know that you plan on doing something about it.
You're right, though. Getting rid of Musselman now does us no good when it comes to improving the coaching situation (which should automatically improve the play of the team). There isn't a coach out there who will get us into the playoffs with a chance at making any noise. This year is done.
That having been said, any changes made should be with the view of improving for the future of the team, and convincing this confused and disappointed fan base that you - as ownership - are committed to rebuilding the team and having us at least contending in the division in the next two or three years.
The thing is, the Maloofs gave Kings fans the impression that they were going to at least put out a team that would be as good as last year's team, with the hope of it being better. That's the reason they didn't resign Rick Adelman, if I remember correctly. They went out and hired Eric Musselman - providing no reason to believe that he would coach the team any more effectively than Adelman did - and he has disappointed. Showed a symptom of poor decision-making before the season even started. And now, he's sitting on the sidelines making money for a job that he's evidently not qualified to do.
And I, as a die-hard fan, am left to sit here and wonder what the hell the team has planning to do to put a winning product back on the floor. Or if they're just planning to put the team in the back of a Mayflower truck and move in the middle of the night, ala the Baltimore Colts in 1984. It's frustrating as hell. It truly is.
And I, as a die-hard fan, would absolutely LOVE to see the Kings can Musselman's a** tomorrow, have an assistant coach the team into the lottery as good or better (which means worse, technically) as Musselman is doing right now. It would make me believe that the team isn't on auto-pilot, that they actually give a flying hell about their fans and winning again.
Might as well wait the rest of the season out, because we can't improve now. But we can be convinced. I know I need to be.
To Rick Adelman: Thanks for 395 wins, 8 consecutive postseason appearances, 34 playoff wins, and the best 8 seasons in Sacramento Kings history.
We've come a long way since last year when Muss bowled over the Maloofs with his job interview.I just got my ESPN mag in the mail today. On the NBA Insider page,,in the "3 Seconds" section was this tidbit (no source and there's no byline):
"Ron Artest isn't the only one walking a thin line in Sac-Town. The Maloof matriarch, Colleen, saved Eric Musselman from a midseason canning. She felt he deserved a a full season to prove himself."
Since there's no reporter name and no source for this tidbit, it would have to be called nothing more than a rumor. However, a coment of two from the Maloof bros. has been an indication of the bloom being off the rose for awhile now, anyway.

Well if the quality of the players on the team goes up that much, then how can you attribute that to the coach? All I can say is, give me a team with speed, a team with length, youth, and vitality, and then let's see what Muss will do then. His rebound stats will go way up, his defense will be better, there will be more fast breaks, and low and behold he might be in the running for Coach of the Year - again.

To me a good coach who gets the most out of the players he has available and he should be able to get his players to play as a team, no matter the quality of the players. Sorry, but I don't even see a glimmer of those qualities in Muss.
Unfortunately for Muss we had a coach just a year ago indirectly show him up by making a serious charge down the stretch with nearly exactly the same team.
