Give me an NBA comp here. Is this like LeBron playing a D2 kid 1on1?
At ~$50,000,000 per fight, this is a pretty good deal for the influencers.this has got to stop with these influencers fighting pro boxers, making a mockery of the sweet science
Have you seen that game back in January 2019 where LaMelo's Spire Academy humiliated Julian Newman's Downey Christian team?Pretty good comp. Except the D2 Kid is entitled as hell, a major following, and gets whatever he wants.
Jake has *some* skills and could actually possibly rise the ranks if he did things right. But instead he fights washed up MMA guys, dudes in different weight classes, or washed up husks.
Before this happened he was scheduled he was supposed to fight another talented fighter in Gervonta Davis… but that fighter lives in the 128 pound weight class. lol

These people don't process shame in quite the same way as the average guy.
On the other hand, I think a lot of people would be ok with an exchange rate of 10 million bucks per punch
I don't think the sport of boxing has anything to lose; has the sport of boxing ever operated with genuine competitive integrity? Is there even a plausible fantasy where that could happen?sure, influencers make out like bandits but at what cost to the sport? the only legit fights that are being made are by Turki and Riyadh Season. Although Benn vs Conner was solid

As a "product", I think this was pretty successful. A lot of that is on the Pauls being excellent promoters. Regardless of competitive integrity, the sheer spectacle of seeing jerks get their faces punched in is always going to be a great draw.there is integrity to be had among certain fighters and then when you put WWE-like fights out there to promote a brand name or to increase viewership well you get the product you see here. the sport would be just fine without these type of fights

I think the audience that tunes in to watch a pro (eventually) beat up a semi-pro is fundamentally not really interested in high level boxing. Just because it gets more attention, doesn't mean it's stealing attention from serious competition.
