What if the only merchandise we bought from this point on was the black jerseys that say "Honor"

eh, ironic, but pointless. Maloofs don't know what that word means anyway. Probably think we included him in the Webber trade or something.

Nice one. Made me laugh :)

I'm in.
I can't have my heart ripped out a 3rd time (4th if you include the 2002 **** job).
To make us think a deal is done and then a month later snatch it all away from us is unforgivable. This team has been in my heart my whole life. I can't keep going back with these scumbag running the show. It's just too painful.

I don't think people will quit using these business's. I'll just quit spending my money on maloof products and events.

I'm pretty much done with the Kings. I like the team and I've been cheering for them for like 15 years, but I'm disgusted with the way the Maloofs act. As long as there are no new owners, I'm done. Pretty disappointing!

Boycotting the absolute worst approach you could take here. I almost think its what the Maloofs want.

The support is what is keeping the team IN Sacramento right now. It is what KEPT the team in Sacramento last year. Even if the Maloofs file for relocation, Stern wants the team in Sacramento because of the support and because there are TWO potential owners lined up. The Maloofs WILL sell. They will. We just have to wait it out.

I firmly believe they are stuck here as long as the city wants them. If the city doesn't want them anymore its an easy out.

If no one goes to the games Stern and the NBA have no leverage. Why not move the team at that point?

I totally agree that there should not be a boycott. Ok, maybe there should be a "statement" boycott of one game, or a half, something that would get national attention, but not a continuous boycott. Look, we're in a war of attrition. It's going to be as much about will power as anything else. We've just got to wait these clowns out and make it very unpleasant for them. If you have an entire community against you, it's going to be pretty hard to stick around.

Stern said the Kings are scheduled to be here for the next two years. I don't think relocation will happen before then. My two cents is we have one season to starve the Maloofs out.

I really don't think the NBA wants to lose Sacramento. Ten years ago we where top three in gate receipts. Pretty good for a crappy cow town market.

Yes the Maloofs own the team. But the city has a stake in this too. Were not going to take it any more.

Please remember a year ago these companies were HEROES to all of us! Please don't attack these sponsors, they are the ones who STEPPED UP. Would be the wrong way to tackle this.

I'm pretty sure he just said they're scheduled at PBP through next season, not the next two.

I think a brown out would be more of a statement. Brown paper bags on our heads at the games. Maybe white tshirts with "maloof" surrounded by a circle with a line across would be good too.

Nobody commented on this, but I like it. I think t-shirts are about $5 each or so with a simple silkscreen. Anyone have a spare $5 * 18,000 = $90,000 ?

No boycott. That plays into Maloofs hand. Do just the opposite and shout your support of the Kings to the rafters. Refreshments, team store and parking is where the cash flows to the Maloofs. But be careful. We don"t know what financial problems they are suddenly faced with. Gavin and Joe have been 100% supporters of Sacramento all along. They are not the culprits here. George is the Chairman of the Board of the Palms in Las Vegas and as such probably holder of the purse strings for Gavin and Joe and the Kings. Something else is going on IMHO.

We should get a couple of things straight. First is to stop referring to the Maloof brothers as different entities. It makes no difference which brother is for or against Sacramento. It makes no difference which brother cries after a meeting or which one is double dealing behind the scenes. All that matters is the end result. The end result is the Maloofs put the city through the ringer again. The Maloofs as an organization are irrational and unreliable. How can they be trusted in any sort of partnership in the long run? The Maloofs want thier cake and eat it too. They want the city to build them an arena, give them all the control, most of the money and put lots of loopholes in the lease so they can leave when they want.

Second is the argument that the Maloofs will eventually sell. How can we assume this when the Maloofs have done nothing to show they will? Investors are practically knocking the door down but the Maloofs insist the team is not for sale. They just killed the deal that would increase the value of the team. Does staying at Arco increase the value? No! The only way they increase the value is in another city in another arena. So the choice is support the team and watch it die on a vine as the Maloofs run it into the ground or make a stand while we can.

Get people to start wasting money in Vegas, again. They can only do so much when faced with a huge decline in revenues.

George Shinn faced a similar problem to the Maloofs.....fortune in huge decline. Tried to hang on as long as possible. But, just like most wives, Sac fans are abandoning their "owners" when fortunes ebb. Well, guess what, most of those wives don't find someone better.

Seattle taxpayers had just finished paying for new football and baseball stadiums. Studies had shown virtually no positive return to taxpayers for this type investments...aside from a few low-paying service jobs. Also, Paul Allen had shafted teachers, police and other public employee pension funds when he put the Rose Garden into bankruptcy (in Portland, of course) and then bought it back himself. Those things leave a bad taste in the mouth of voters.

The problem for the Maloofs is a huge decline in their finances. They seemed pretty happy in Sacramento when they had more income. But, why don't you just jamb a stick in your own eyes. That will fix the problem. You won't have to watch.

From what you said you have empathy for the Maloofs and are against the Arena. The same argument the Maloofs are making at this time. You call yourself Mal. Is that short for Maloof? I see what your doing there. If the Maloofs want more income, they will have to become better buisinessmen. "Hanging on" is a poor buisiness decision IMO.

Mal isn't a Kings fan per se. He's a IT fan from Washington who joined KF when IT started to get playing time. No need to start calling people "Maloof" based on their user name. ;)

I haven't read the above because it's hard on the eyes. I have tickets to tomorrow's game and, even tjhough my son can't go, I'm going. My last game of the year.

I have no desire to punish anyone. I like my Kings in Sacramento but I know they won't stay unless their owners, whom I assume are practically broke in relative terms, unless their owners can survive financially here or can sell in the best way possible. So in my best interest I will go and I will not withdraw my season ticket deposit.

I may start a thread in a few days when we've had a chance to cool off seeking discussion of what is likely and what is unlikely to happen assuming all our parties are good guys. But not today.

This is a copy of what I posted on the "other" site.

You really need to read the thread. There are some good suggestions and a lot of heart-felt feelings from fellow Kings fans.

There are some good discussions ongoing in the New Arena forum, too.

Thanks. I'm sorry about "not reading" but it is getting harder and when I see three and four and five threads with 75 posts each I sonetimes can't get me to dive in. One is OK but how can you tell. Thanks, I'll hang in there.

I for one am thinking that a boycott of the games altogether is not the right way to go. If everyone stops going to games or whatever, then i think the maloofs have a solid case to relocate the team. If we continue to support the team, i think there is a solid chance that clay bennet and the rest of the owners wont allow the maloofs to move. KJ has proven that this city is behind the team 100% and that we deserve a them. From what ive read, everyone around the league wants the kings to stay put, except the maloofs. If we can just HOLD ON, i think we might have a shot here b/c if the maloofs are forced to stay, i think they will be forced to sell due to them being the most hated people in the city.

i was recently reminded by a friend that the clippers and lakers owners will do everything in their power to not let the team move to LA. I think they carry a lot more weight than the maloofs and i personally believe that the maloofs dont want to move anywhere but LA b/c thats where they can be "playboys" and thats where Samueli is going to give them a loan. I really doubt that they want to go to seattle or anywhere else. i think "rich" douche bags like that really only want to be in LA or Vegas.

i just wish there was a way to support the team without putting money in the maloofs pockets. Stop buying concessions? stop parking inside in arena area? i dont know but if there is a way to do this, i think thats the best option

I for one am boycotting anything owned or sold by a maloof. If that plays into their hands, so be it. They must play at bankrupt pavillian next year so if they can't sell any tickets they will hopefully go completely broke and have to sell. At any rate, they want to leave no matter if us country bumpkins go to the games or not. 25 years of fan loyalty mean squat to them. I won't even watch the game on comcast sports, I'll read about the game but that's it. If that's bad, so be it but those jerk aloof's won't ever get another dime from me.

Carmichael dave talked to George Maloof yesterday for 30 min. According to Dave, he asked George why they haven't spent more to improve the team. George came back with there is nothing wrong with team and 16 thousand people showing up on a Sunday afternoon to watch 2 non playoff teams proves that. Dave said he took from the interview that they really truely believe what they are saying through the media. George really thinks the product on the court is good. So, the more we show up to games as fans, the more the Maloofs see that everything is A ok. Reassuring isn't it? This is why I'm no longer supporting ANYTHING Maloofs. They're delusional!!!!!

It's the typical catch-22 mindset of anyone in an undeserved position of power, narcissistic sociopaths and supervillains. If everything is working it's proof of my genius. If it isn't working, why am I surrounded by all these morons?!

In the madness of King George: If people show up to the games it's because we are producing a worthwhile product and are competent businessmen. If people don't show up it's because Sacramento is a non-viable market and can't support professional sports and you can trust our assessment because we are competent business men.
