I read a post here a couple weeks ago addressing the benefits of a hard cap, etc, and the example given was how it would prevent the Lakers from signing Piece X, Y, or Z.
It's usually the small market teams that are killing the golden goose with these ASININE signings. What the hell... When we are staring at a season long lockout for lawyers to save these moronic owners and GMs from themselves, it's not going to be because of LA.
Mo Evans took a look at the free-agent market this summer and decided his $2.5 million salary in 2010-11 is the best deal for him.
Looks like Amare is getting close to signing a max deal with the Knicks.

I'm a little surprised that the Suns wouldn't try to get David Lee instead of blowing 10M/year on Frye and Warrick.
Lakers sign Steve Blake for 4/16M. Not too bad a value.

I suppose that means Mike Miller is not signing with them...
According to Portland fans he isnt that great. Strictly looking at stats I'd say he's solid, and an upgrade from Fish (who sucks until a game is on the line, then all of a sudden he turns into Robert Horry). I love how every team in the league has to overpay, but players give fLakers the discount. Friggin LA POS bandwagon team. Cant wait until Cuz eats Pau Gasol. /endrant
Also, re: Warrick on the Suns. Watch Nash turn him into a 20/10 big.
Farmar is definitely gone. I think Fisher depends solely on whether he's willing to come down from his 5 million/yr price range to about half that. He probably will.
Solid signing by the Lakers. Blake provides pretty much exactly what they lack at the PG position.
^Probably means Fisher or Farmar are gone too. Likely Farmar
Farmar is definitely gone.
On the other side of things, we ended up hating the size of Webber's and Bibby's deals, but boy were Kings fans relieved we didn't lose them in free agency at the time. We were especially sweating out the resigning of Webber. When its time to resign Evans, we'll be sweating out again, if he turns into the player we're hoping he'll be. Just like Cleveland fans right now.
Edit: Remember the only teams that can use the MLE or LLE(?) are teams that are over the salary cap.
if the lakers lose farmar and at the sametime shannon brown isnt resigned they will have a pretty old backcourt of fish and blake. its going to be difficult for both those guys in the long run and defensively will they be able to keep up..
RealGM said:There are rumors of three-way trade discussions among Golden State, Minnesota and New York, in which Al Jefferson would be sent to the Warriors, Lee to the Timberwolves, and Monta Ellis to the Knicks.
Lee visited Minnesota on Saturday but the team holds only $7 million of salary-cap space which means that Lee would be looking for a sign-and-trade to get him to the Wolves at a contract nearer to his market value.

Joe Johnson at $119 million for 6 years is confirmed. Atlanta better make their playoff run now because they're gonna be saddled with his bloated contract and declining production in a few years.
I like Johnson as a player and think he would be a nice 2nd or 3rd best player on a good team. But getting a max deal is a mistake IMO. He is not a player that can carry a team to a championship.
