How long until everyone in the league knows them as the "Sucks" and Jennings demands a trade? I give it 2 seasons...

The team plays good D for Skiles if those boys can actually share the rock and Bogut comes back strong after that crazy injury I can see them a top 3-4 team in the East. But that's ALOT of If's.

If we can sit on our money this has the potential to work out very well for us after the new CBA goes down. Prior to the NHL lockout players were signing obscene deals and once the NHL re-wrote their cap star players were shipped off to small markets because teams couldn't afford them. Chris Pronger helped lead Edmonton to the Finals that year. Of course at some point we'll have to re-sign some stars of our own and make some tough decisions but it might net us 1 or 2 years of contention before our young guys fully hit their primes.

They were in the playoffs last year, they're certainly not worse than they were, and like you said, with Bogut coming back, they should be in contention for a playoff spot every year. But they're not winning a championship, won't even sniff the Finals. Not with that squad.

On paper, it's great, but has Gooden ever played a complete season? And we have all seen John Salmons play enough (Pass the ball, John, pass it!) to expect to much from him now that he got his big deal.

No kidding!! What in the HELL is Kahn doing giving Darko that kind of money?? Is he going to start him? Nice lineup of Bowen, Flynn, and Darko as starters...Al Jeff is probably drowning his sorrows eating a bucket of Prozac flavored Dryers right now. Poor guy...

What would be funny is if the Knicks have no choices left and have to give Lee a max contract or near max just to keep him. All that after lowballing him last year as RFA

Absolutely. Did they really think they couldn't just offer Gooden a 3year/15M deal? The guy signed a 1 year/4M just LAST YEAR. No need to lock him up until he joins AARP

Hahaha!! Then all they'd be talking about is 'Well, we REALLY just wanted to save our money to pursue Carmelo next year...'. Way to wait around and end up with nothing guys.:D

Mike Miller promises to benefit too. He will get a deal exceeding the mid-level exception -- perhaps $35 to $40 million too.

Well there goes Mike Miller thanks to all this crazy money being thrown around. You can probably scratch Morrow as well, GS might not pay but you can bet another team will that has probably been messed over with the quick JJ/Gay signings.

Brand is pretty bad, but Rashard is epic. 2nd highest paid player in the league this year - and I believe he will be for 3 MORE years.

At least Rashard has actually scored some buckets, and even made some plays in the ECF and Finals last year. Elton Brand hasn't even played a full season for the Sixers yet. Came off the actual bench for 20 games last year. I think I'm putting Brand ahead of Lewis in the "worst contract" competition.

Sweet Mother - probably my least favorite player in the league:

OMG hahah wow just wow.

I just hope that we don't get dumb ideas like going after Richard Jefferson - god forbid.

Patience is what we need.

I was at another board when I read about RJeff opting out and people were calling it stupid but looking at it now there might be a market for this guy to get paid right now.

Guys like him, Pierce and Miller will get a insane offer by the time this is all said and done. Clippers are supposedly guranteeing that they are gonna add a 'Dynamic SF' to their roster accoring to David Aldridge.

What sort of bazarro world are we living in when Richard Jefferson has a horrible season, can't average 10PPG in the playoffs, and opts out of 15 million dollars next year.

They are in big big trouble. The Wade/Bosh/LeBron group are too smart to go there, and the secondary options appear to be going elsewhere. They'll probly end up with at least Lee, Stoudemire or Boozer...but with who? The Rockets can switch picks with them next year, and get their pick the year after.

Its often said that the worst position is to be is a late lottery team, too goo to get higher, and not good enough for playoffs. Well what about a late lottery team that doesn't even have that pick?

I think we can now put the "Kings will rebuild by sweeping the FA market in 2010" idea to bed.

Rebuilding through the draft kicks butt, especially if you're in one of the smaller markets.

We got Dalembert, I expect us to follow up by signing a few cheap bench warmers. Anything more than that can wait.

Actually, yes. As reported by Rick Kamla, the Wolves are very, very high on Darko.

And the sad thing is, the Darko signing may turn out to be one of the best bargains in this crazy summer.

In a name

Gilbert Arenas

try to top that contract vs game played :)

What I don't get is how owners will be able negotiate lower salaries in the new CBA next year "because of the economy," when they are giving out contracts in these amounts right now. The owners may be shooting themselves in the foot for next year's negotiations.
